Start of a couple of real tough tracks, were will be surprising if anyone can get to double figures either here or at the Honda next week.
Real ball strikers course, with the average of greens found in regulation for the field was just over 50%. Should suit Justin Rose but bit short for my liking for a guy who wins but not not very often.
Would take Jordan over Rory on this track and hiscfinal round last week at Pebble Beach shows he's about to strike again soon. Couple of top 15's in 2 starts here also shows his liking for here.
Bubba has yet to get into a groove yet this season but he's streaky and battered the field a few years back with a couple of brilliant 66's. At the price he's worth chancing.
Adam Scott may not be on everyone’s list, nor could he be classed as very much in form. What he is, is an absolute quality ball striker, coming to a venue that is made for him, where he has proved successful before. He has only played once in the last two months, but that is a positive. He is best fresh, and always arrives at his 'targets' off a break. This will be one of them. 40-1(bigger on here) is an insult to a player of his calibre.
I wasn't keen on him last week, I never am at a short price, but Charl Schwartzel makes plenty of appeal this week. He finished the job in some style, and arrives here humming about the state of his game. I backed him at the same price 2 years ago, when he didn't arrive in the same vein, but managed to finish 5th. It’s a course which sets up very well for him, and it’s hard to see him out of the mix.

Another player high on confidence and fresh of a win is Hideki Matsuyama.
He fanned about on a few putts during the last two rounds, but when his back was against the wall he showed his mettle and sent them home with aplomb. When the job was nearly done, he was again tentative over the winning putt, but that win and the way he done it could be a platform to a great year. Riviera will suit just as well, and he should surely be a whole lot shorter than the likes of Dustin Johnson.
DJs course credentials are excellent, but they were last week two. And yet again, he was not surprisingly rubbish.

Keegan Bradley and Paul Casey will both be very much looking forward to getting back here.
Two horses for courses, both are much bigger than expected in the market, and can repay e.w support.

With Scott and Schwartzel on the team I probably shouldn't be adding a third of questionable bottle, but Sergio Garcia has a cracking chance here.
He probably should have won here last year, when not at the peak of his powers. His tee to green prowess will go a long way here, and if he manages to hole the odd putt, he could well be holding the trophy come Sunday night.
I couldn't ignore the 80-1 on Andy Sullivan.

Hideki Matsuyama only played nine holes in the pro-am before calling it quits due to flu-like symptoms, putting his status for the week in question. The youngster will be a popular pick this week, making his first start since his victory at the WM Phoenix Open. Don't hit the panic button yet and monitor this situation closely for any further news. Charl Schwartzel (69.5), Dustin Johnson and Hideki (69.75) rank in the top 5 scoring avg's all time here. He just went bogey, double bogey, birdie on 4, 5 & 6 to remain at -1 thru17 holes.

BUBBA posts 5-under-par 32-34=66 to grab a share of the early lead - Watson opened with a bogey at the tricky par-4 10th hole and was visibly frustrated throughout his outward nine, but the flat stick came to the rescue starting with a 23'11" birdie bomb on the par-3 14th hole then added birdies at the par-5 17th and par-4 18th holes. The bomber got in a groove from there, as he cruised into the clubhouse with four birdies and just one bogey on the final nine holes. He was uncharacteristically hot with the flat stick today, gaining 2.930 strokes putting.

That forecast for a windy afternoon did not materialise. Looks like RORY could 'eat it up and spit it out' with it's 'soft like conditions' this morning.

Of course you cannot get your head around it, Pa. You worked a Pnuematic Drill in the UK all your life, how on earth could you be expected to cultivate a Rolodex of contacts in the Sport of Kings (and Cattle men in Charles's case)?
If you could only drop the bitterness, we might even cut you in now and again, help to keep your head above water.

World No. 1 Lydia Ko is four shots back after a second-round 70, still nicely poised after what she regarded as a "tough day'' on the course. Ko, the defending champion, said the breezy conditions made it tough to decide whether to attack or play safe. "Either way it was playing really tough but I see there are some lower scores out there so they must have played some pretty superb golf."
Our man LOUIS at -5 has his work cut out (8 shots back from Aussie PGA Champ Nathan HOLMAN). Willett @ -8 has a better chance of winning.

WATCH OUT FOR THE MASTERS WINNER during this tourney as it's no coincidence that those inside the T10 here WILL SHOW UP well again at Augusta !
Remember last year, James Hahn winning the 3way playoff from PAUL CASEY and DUSTIN JOHNSON - both T6 in the MASTERS ! Also last year, the T4 here was Hideki (5th in the MASTERS) and JORDAN SPIETH - Your Masters Champion !
Augusta is less than 50 days away so backed RORY 7/1.

Can't have him winning. There will a few tournament destructing doubles over the weekend. Just not playing consistently well enough to avoid them.
Nearly pink button time for Dusty again. Can't have him winning. There will a few tournament destructing doubles over the weekend. Just not playing consistently well enough to avoid them.
Some BIG names to have missed-the-cut in Kuala Lumpur include Martin KAYMER #36 in OWGR and Chris WOOD #6RTD & #42 in OWGR.
It has already proved costly for Thorbjørn OLESEN #11RTD (& #57OWGR) and Grégory BOURDY #12RTD as the Top 10 from Race to Dubai (RTD) next Monday qualify for the valuable WGC-CADILLAC CHAMPIONSHIP @ Trump National Doral (Blue Monster Course) on March 3rd-6th. Thomas PIETERS #9RTD has an anxious wait to know his fate. Also missing the cut were Matthew FITZPATRICK #45OWGR and Kiradech APHIBARNRAT #44OWGR who must remain inside the Top 50 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) on Feb. 29th. The Top 10 in Fed-Ex-Cup Points on Feb. 29th also qualify.

He holed the putts when it mattered. Scott didn't.
Bubba has to be a massive factor in a few weeks. He obviously doesn't take too well to being defending champ. I would have him second in the market.
Scott will b fancying his chances now too
What a prospect.
DJ can continue to be laid until he starts practising.

Doubt we'll see any 70s on Scott for the rest of the season.
Bubba showed the full repertoire out there. Worthy winner.
Runner up too weeks in a row.Not good for me as I am mostly a Win only punter.Doubt we'll see any 70s on Scott for the rest of the season.Bubba showed the full repertoire out there. Worthy winner.
Too kind all, Bubba different beast now with age, reliable under pressure. Won't be about this week till later on, Honda picks are:
Patrick Reed Phil Mickelson Padraig Harrington (Not at current 85's Huddys! Will expect at least 220's available by weds evening)
Best of luck all.
