Northern Trust PGA Golf

Adam Scott may not be on everyone’s list, nor could he be classed as very much in form. What he is, is an absolute quality ball striker, coming to a venue that is made for him, where he has proved successful before. He has only played once in the last two months, but that is a positive. He is best fresh, and always arrives at his 'targets' off a break. This will be one of them. 40-1(bigger on here) is an insult to a player of his calibre.

I wasn't keen on him last week, I never am at a short price, but Charl Schwartzel makes plenty of appeal this week.
He finished the job in some style, and arrives here humming about the state of his game. I backed him at the same price 2 years ago, when he didn't arrive in the same vein, but managed to finish 5th. It’s a course which sets up very well for him, and it’s hard to see him out of the mix.

Another player high on confidence and fresh of a win is Hideki Matsuyama.

He fanned about on a few putts during the last two rounds, but when his back was against the wall he showed his mettle and sent them home with aplomb. When the job was nearly done, he was again tentative over the winning putt, but that win and the way he done it could be a platform to a great year. Riviera will suit just as well, and he should surely be a whole lot shorter than the likes of Dustin Johnson.

DJs course credentials are excellent, but they were last week two. And yet again, he was not surprisingly rubbish.

Keegan Bradley and Paul Casey will both be very much looking forward to getting back here.

Two horses for courses, both are much bigger than expected in the market, and can repay e.w support.

With Scott and Schwartzel on the team I probably shouldn't be adding a third of questionable bottle, but Sergio Garcia has a cracking chance here.

He probably should have won here last year, when not at the peak of his powers. His tee to green prowess will go a long way here, and if he manages to hole the odd putt, he could well be holding the trophy come Sunday night.

I couldn't ignore the 80-1 on Andy Sullivan.

A debutante here, but too good a player to ever be that price in the form he is in.

Haven't backed CHARL this week so this thread must be some kind of omen this week with Callit on at 33's 7 places with Poor Paddy

Hideki Matsuyama only played nine holes in the pro-am before calling it quits due to flu-like symptoms, putting his status for the week in question. The youngster will be a popular pick this week, making his first start since his victory at the WM Phoenix Open. Don't hit the panic button yet and monitor this situation closely for any further news. Charl Schwartzel (69.5), Dustin Johnson and Hideki (69.75) rank in the top 5 scoring avg's all time here. He just went bogey, double bogey, birdie on 4, 5 & 6 to remain at -1 thru17 holes.

Huds, see were both on LOUIS O this week. Also did a few cross accums in all the other tournaments. BOL

BUBBA posts 5-under-par 32-34=66 to grab a share of the early lead - Watson opened with a bogey at the tricky par-4 10th hole and was visibly frustrated throughout his outward nine, but the flat stick came to the rescue starting with a 23'11" birdie bomb on the par-3 14th hole then added birdies at the par-5 17th and par-4 18th holes. The bomber got in a groove from there, as he cruised into the clubhouse with four birdies and just one bogey on the final nine holes. He was uncharacteristically hot with the flat stick today, gaining 2.930 strokes putting.

Pod wins the 3 ball and Bubba leads early, sweet.

Would have expected SPIETH to birdie the 1st (par 5), will feel like a dropped shot.

World No. 1 Lydia Ko is four shots back after a second-round 70, still nicely poised after what she regarded as a "tough day'' on the course. Ko, the defending champion, said the breezy conditions made it tough to decide whether to attack or play safe. "Either way it was playing really tough but I see there are some lower scores out there so they must have played some pretty superb golf."
