His Punchestown run was remarkable, never asked to get involved at any stage of the race, hands and heels lopped around in his own time.
Now lets turn to Leopardstown and yes I know it was over further,here we had a horse always involved and by heck the use of the whip between the last two was in sharp contrast to its Punchestown effort . Ah maybe its all in my mind but it does beg the question what was the ride at Punchestown all about ..

A bigger load off wank I haven't read in a long time.
He jumped poor enough over an inadequate 20F I the John Durkan. It was obvious that it was a pipe opener for Christmas. Blinkers applied he wasn't going to be ridden any other way last time. This horse isn't good enough to win a grade 1 but it's such a **** race it could well do that.

Thats the reason for the question BWS , why weren't they pulled in for the ride in the Durkan ?

Never forget The ladbroke hurdle winner Redundant pal getting beaten in a two horse race a week before the ladbroke hurdle at 2/5fav, Paddy Mullins was pulled in by the stewards and asked whats the story and he told them, he does not know what happened, week later my old man tells me "get on Redundant Pal today son, 28/1 a certainty, with a cheeky wink, I smiled and said to him, I am calling the men in the white coats for you Da, you are mad.
Horse jumps the last and sprints away from the field wins by 4L, I was in the pub with my mates and he was over the other side of the Bar with his friends, I looked over, he picked up his Guinness, winked at me and took a sup.

he used to say, those dopey english will they ever learn, ya need about two stone in hand to come over her and take the Ladbroke off the Irish,
He is passed away now but he was a character, he also would not shut up about Jet ski lady in the oaks for Bolger, sure you know the rest.

, Barnbrook another who was a good horse but just below top class as a hurdler , your Dad sounds like he knew his onions fair play to him R.I.P. Jet Ski Lady ,now that REALLY brings back memories , I had a 2yo and the trainer decided we had a chance in a nursary at Leopardstown and we should take our chance as it looked a easy enough race , well you'll never guess who won that race, and later went on to win the Oaks , yeah easy race alright...

What a fantastic day’s racing we’ve got at Leopardstown on Saturday where I kick-off aboard Pride Of The Braid in the mares handicap hurdle (1.25pm).
This will be only her second start over hurdles and although she won on her debut here last month, she is very much in at the deep end.
Barnahash Rose was less than a length behind us that day and gets a 2lb swing here too.
Whatever Pride Of The Braid does on Saturday, she is bound to improve for the run.
There may only be five runners in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle (1.55pm) but it looks a really good race with Willie’s [Mullins] Bellshill taking on Gordon’s [Elliott] Tombstone.
I’m firmly in the Tombstone camp and think he is a hell of a horse. I think he’ll win.
He wears a hood for the first time which may help remove some of the keenness he had the last day and obviously shows at home.
As for which Festival race he’ll turn up in, he’s got that perfect mix of speed and stamina which makes him the ideal type for the Supreme.
That said, his ability to stay means he could head to the Neptune if connections wanted to. We’ll know a lot more after the race.
I ride Zabana for Andrew Lynch in the Flogas Novice Chase (2.30pm) and he delighted me when I popped him over a few fences on Tuesday.
He gave me a similar feel to some of the really top-class horses I’ve ridden in the past.
Having said that, tomorrow is a huge step up and we’ll know more about him and potential Cheltenham Festival aspirations afterwards.
I see there has been a bit of a gamble on him for the JLT at the Festival this week. Just a word of warning that punters may be jumping the gun here as his target won’t be decided until after the Flogas.
I was a bit surprised that so many stood their ground for the Irish Gold Cup (3.40pm).
My mount First Lieutenant needs no introduction and comes here on the back of a brilliant run in the Lexus at Christmas.
He has been so consistent this campaign and I’d be delighted if he ran a similar sort of race.
Saturday will be a real test and Road To Riches is unquestionably the one we all have to beat. It won’t be a walkover for him though.
Fuzzy Cheltenham picture becoming clearer
It was only a week or so ago that everyone was saying that this year’s Cheltenham Festival was simply going to be the Willie Mullins show.
Well, Yanworth and Barters Hill produced two performances for the home team at Cheltenham last weekend that make the pair the two horses to beat in their respective races come March.
Yanworth oozed class and will take some beating in the Neptune, while Barters Hill fools you into thinking you can pass when he is simply not for passing. He looks the ideal Albert Bartlett type.
The picture is becoming that little bit clearer now and will be even more so after Saturday’s informative day.
