why did Davy Russell feel the need to hit Space Cadet within 10 strides of the line when his chance has clearly gone. He hit the horse in the midriff unlike he strikes before the last which were in the correct place. Has Davy lost patience with the horse?
Paddy Mullins the same , just butchered the mare in the last 100 yards . Poor attendance , poor racing on a track that throws up very daunting ground |
By:
Davys ride was extraordinary imo, sitting quietly behind the winner for most of the way ,letting the giggy horse get first run, holding on for as long as he could ,probably trying to remember which way the betting had gone 6/4 to 11/4 then a bit of a plunge into 13/8 ,I think Davy got a little confused and thought near the finish that his orders were to win if you get my drift..
By:
WR backed Space Cadet @ 9/4 and didn’t see any impropriety with the ride. Horse is a complete camel and jumps slowly. Davy wanted to get a lead and horse was perfectly close enough at the second last if he was good enough. Ballooned that flight and was paceless from there. It was an illusion that he quickened late.
Desperate ride from Patrick in the bumper and unusually poor considering he prefers to keep it simple. |
By:
Didn't back the runner up in the Bumper but his error of being way too far back was compounded by delaying his effort until the winner had flown, the lad seems much better when in the vanguard throughout a race,he's overdone the waiting behind a few times now.

some nonsense wonks as usual horse is a rogue
By:
Exactly space cadet is a dog and it was there in black and white in the form book ffs
By:
Wouldn’t say Space Cadet is necessarily a dog. Rather I think he just just completely footless and gets caught out over hurdles due to his laboured hurdling technique. Fences and a longer trip could bring about much improvement. I’m sure he is exasperating connections alright as he shaped like a real good horse last year.

By:
The point is he's a STAYER , yet crawled around yesterday under Davy , this fellow needs to be ridden from the front and given a few backhanders to brighten up his ideas ,hes keeping a bit for himself of that there is no doubt , but is well capable of setting up a sequence if front running , watch this space...
By:
Wonks, go and have a lie down will ya, for jesus sake. Any winning he may do will coincide with him running on better ground, the horse cannot function on really testing ground, its a s simple as that.
By:
Just woke up Mincer ,who said anything about ground ? my point is he should be tried from the FRONT , simple .
By:
Well you should go back to sleep wonks then, its me who is saying it wants better ground, and if and when it does win races over obstacles, there will be no heavy in the description, and it wont have anything to do with changing its running style.

Gary just admitted after reviewing the race last night Patrick had rode a poor race...
