Cause of Causes looks a massive price @ 25’s. Looks well treated off 142 and seems very adaptable trip wise. The Paddy Power run wasn’t bad. Speaking of that race, Gallant Oscar was surely one to take out of it. He rather looked to have found himself getting into the race (was in front of the eventual 1st and 2nd) with little effort when departing at the second last. Entered Sunday where the trip won’t suit but something like the Midlands National could be a target if not Cheltenham itself.

Keep your selections to yourself
.Easygold doesn't like free tips or anything prior to the race time but I think he was on UDS for the Arkle hence the reappearance of the Cheltenham thread. |

He'll be dining out on that one for a while to come!

Don’t forget that he was quite strong on Shannak on Sunday also, so much so that he made it known after the race despite no mention in his various posts before that race was run!

You must be feeling great with your odds on tip winning the other day DJ?
Snap keep at it, one day you might get that tipping line you dream about.... And subscribers first TTK. Don't worry easygold might throw a few crumbs out in the next few months. His tips really do take the world of beating! |

The problem is the handicapper.
He shouldn't give a mark to a horse that trots around last in a few maiden hurdles. |

Was talking to a mate of mine at Punchestown last Sat ,he came up with a novel idea around that subject , his suggestion was the handicapper should put them UP a couple of pounds if he thinks they are having a easy. Then drop them after a few runs if he finds that they are not capable of winning off revised mark .

I’m sure the “subscribers" were on long before Easy’s posts Roger.
Wouldn’t work in practice WR. All a trainer would have to do is produce a vets report saying the horse wasn’t right if the handicapper suspected skullduggery. The handicap system isn’t perfect but it’s what we have to work with. There’s a school of thought that the ratings system should be dropped in favour of classified races based on prize money. Basically level weight races on a sliding prize money scale (e.g All Class 4 races carry 15k pots and all Class 3 carry 25k pots). Horses work their way up and down the scale though their career. Think this ignores the fact that the huge operations with a lot of similar type horses could end up farming the lower tier races with horses that would be running in better races for other connections. I suppose you could apply fixed penalties (say five pounds) to previous winners turning up again in the grade in the same season. I must say I like the puzzle that is the handicap system. The JP element is one that there’s no easy solution to. |

I agree TTK, but a nice little idea all the same ,can't you just hear the screams from here . Handicapping a liars charter imo.

Pre Fat won't like that!! He berated Snap for complimenting me on a winner, when he had himself convinced(total proof he had I believe!!) that I was Snap. Wrong obviously. Now Roger and Easy is a different scenario. You never mentioned when I PM'd you about Beau Mome Rog? Never?!! I'm not one for making wrong factual statements but I pretty sure we all know ye are one and the same. Will i do anyway. |
