The Nedbank has grown in size and class then even just a few years ago.Willett was a blip last year as he won on debut which shows it can be done though historically a few goes were needed and that may be due in part to the altitude. The few with very solid,consistent course form seem to be Stenson.Westwood and Fisher.
Of the top GB and Ire runners (8) only Fisher and twice winner Westwood have played the course more than once,4 players are making their debut,not too enamoured with Westwoods current form but no doubting he plays well here.
8/1 EW Westwood top GB and Ire my golf bet this week.
The Hero has another stellar field,first time this is on this linksy course and with little to go on will leave it go a round or two.

So close last week lads,at least we made a profit with the place part of the bet coming up,going for three players against the field in the Nedbank,couldn't have any of the favourites,Stenson due to have a back operating next week,Grace might be burnt out after playing the last six events,and Charls looks shaky over the weekend,
1st selection Ross Fisher e/w 33/1,in his last three visits here he hasn't been outside the top 5, 2nd selection is Martin Kaymer,e/w 20/1a previous winner here,and he's slowly showing some of his old sparkle, 3rd selection is Andy Sullivan e/w 25/1,agree with everything callit has said about him, Now onto America were we have a brilliant line up aswell,as already said no course form,going for two against the field win only, 1st selection is my old pal Patrick Reed win 14/1,who has shown over the last couple of months that's he's been playing some super golf,he won't be far away this week if he has a solid four rounds, 2nd selection is Rickie Fowler win 12/1,will love this links style course,and will have no fear if the wind gets up,he's one of the top golf wind players around, Selections, Nedbank, Kaymer e/w 20/1, Sullivan e/w 25/1, Fisher e/w 33/1, Hero challenge Reed win 14/1, Fowler win 12/1, We it been a limited field in both events and you are getting four places I've permed the selections up and done small e/w doubles,best of luck this week lads, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The 25-1 on Andy Sullivan for the Nedbank is an absolute insult, and should be snaffled up. A busy week to wrap up the golfing year, and plenty of top names out to make the Christmas cash. Hoping for another good week to help on that front myself!!
My earlier post regarding the Ho Tram Open seems to have been scrubbed. For what reason, I have absolutely no idea. Apple put up that he thought Geoff Ogilvy was a good bet, I agreed with no mention od any firm. Odd. Anyway that 28-1 has since disappeared, but the 25-1 remaining is still a cracking bet IMO. Ogilvy put up a very good showing last week in a field that although was very weak apart from the 3 who finished 1,2,3 and a couple of others, it was still a deal better than this absolute fodder. Yes Sergio Garcia is a deserving favourite, but he certainly wont strike fear into his opponents the way a charging Spieth would. Ogilvys form last week came out of the blue, having had a string of missed cuts before that. Its possible it was a flash in the pan, and he could revert to type this week, bit his caddy was noted saying how good he thinks his man is hitting it. That suggests its more likely that he just found something, and is ready to contend again. He wont get many better chances of a win than he will this week, and certainly shouldn't be the price he is/was. The 9-2 on Sergio is (actually just gone!!), but was backable. The worry would be Garcia would sulk if he didn't get off to a good start, and unlike Scott and Charl last week, you couldn't be banking on the place part. I would much rather the 7-1 on Ogilvy to place than the 9-2 on Serg to win in any case. 1.3pts e.w Geoff Ogilvy 28-1 The Nedbank as Pa says has been growing in both numerically and player strength. It looks a very good field on paper this year, but when you go through the market leaders, they all seem to have a few too many live doubts to be taking relatively short odds. In another year, the 7-1 on Henrik Stenson would represent a decent e.w bet, but he just hasn't been himself of late, playing abysmally in his favourite haunt in Dubai last time out. All credit to Danny Willet for dragging another top performance out there, but you have to question what is left in the tank this week?? Similar with Brandon Grace, he has danced every dance but went home alone for the most part. He was some way off his best last week, and its hard to see where the motivation is going to come from this week. Charl Schwartzel was a comfortable winner, but I thought he played pretty poorly over the weekend, and wouldn't be keen on him this week. Louis Oost is still woefully inconsistent, and Matt Fitz has had a very long year. The 2 players I was initially interested in where Ross Fisher and Thonchai Jaidee. Both have been very busy of late themselves, but may have more motivation than those at the head of the market to put it all in again. Fisher arrives here in better form than he has when contending here before, and the layout quite clearly suits him very well. 33-1 was well worth a bet. I also took 33s on Jaidee, and am surprised he is now as big as 44 on here. He has looked very dangerous of late, and he might just finish off his year in style here. I expected Andy Sullivan to be priced up about 12/14-1 and as such wouldn't of really had much interest. He has no course form, and is entitled to be on the wind down after a terrific campaign. But 25-1 on a proven winner, who on his last outing forced an on form Rory McIlroy go 13 under for the weekend to down him, was just madness IMO. There is no reason to think he wont take to the track, he is quite like Spieth in that everywhere seems to suit. Quite simply, he is just consistently under rated by the market. Barring Kaymer(whose confidence I think is shot to pieces at the moment anyway) I wouldn't back any of those ahead of Sully in the market at evens to beat him if they were level with 9 to play. I decided to add Keegan Bradley as a consequence of backing higher priced ones. He, like Sullivan, wasn't on the initial radar for here as he has no course experience. But Danny Willet proved it can be done last year, and Bradley has been on my mind for a few weeks now. I think he will strike soon. 40-1 that it is here looked a bit big. 1pt e.w Ross Fisher 33-1 1pt e.w Thongchai Jaidee 33-1 1.5pt e.w Andy Sullivan 25-1 .8p e.w Keegan Bradley 40-1 The Heroes World Challenge certainly offers the best field of the week, and if all are on their game it promises to be a cracker. Spieth rightly sits at the head of the market, but he said he was giving last week all he had, and quite honestly he along with Adam Scott were very disappointing. It was a field full of sh1te, and neither really got anything going. Jordans putting wasn't at its brilliant best, and that would be costly here. Birdies are going to flow. I am never backing Justin Rose at short prices again, as he annoys the boll*x out of me, so that rules him out!! Bubba could be a danger along with Ricky Fowler, but both are bogey men for me and I am happy to let them run. Everthing about the track layout and length screams Dustin Johnson. Is he, a weekend disaster, really value at 7-1 to win here?? Maybe there isn't much juice in his price, but the more I think about it the more I can see him carving this place up and being very very hard to beat. He will lope around the par 5s in around 15 under for the week. If he does much else right, he will win. His biggest danger may be Patrick Reed. Reed strikes me as the type that will always take Tigers event seriously, and last years debut third backs this up. Its a different venue this time around, but I cant see that as a disadvantage. Quite the opposite in fact. He is more than capable of winning events where 20 under may not even be low enough, his Hyundai of Champions success 11 months ago proving that. He may just bookend his year with W's. Backed Ogilivy after 2 days last week and he could have won by 3 or 4 the way he hit the irons,hopefully his putting yips were a once off as normally reliable putter agree worth decent each way at that price

Looking at the Ho Tram Open again, I feel I probably should have tried get on that 9-2 on Sergio.
But that ship has sailed, and for a second arrow I went with Darren Clarke. He played very well for large periods of last weeks Oz Open. He finished up with a very disappointing 76, and dropped to 30th, but at 100-1 he is worth chancing in a field of players who can mostly only dream of playing in a British Open. Thonchai Jaidee is worth of support at 13-8/2.64 on here in the 8.21am 3 ball.
Jaidee has performed well relative to his SP around here before, and though I have backed two debutants in the outright market it is certainly an advantage to have played this track before. His opponents Robert Streb and Scott Piercy both make their debuts, and Thursday is the best time to take them on. Streb has had a good year, but his form has started to taper off, and I don't see this as Piercys cup of tea. Walker had not started at the time.
He was other one I put up in preview despite his recent form as the track would hopefully suit and he has form at this time of year. Being a Texan, the winds are not an issue either and his form in Hawaii and the likes of Pebble Beach were also a positive. Although I had my doubts re Stensons fitness and state of game before the tournament, he really does look by the far the moist likely winner now. I have never been a fan of Leishman at a short price in contention. With Van Zyl also very weak in a finish, it makes more sense to back the Swede than lay Leish.
5pts Stenson 1.96 Bubba and Casey had superb rounds yesterday, but they are notoriously difficult to back up. And back them up they will need to do. Reed is the one most likely to take advantage if they do slip up. Speith seems slightly irritable of late, and although he retains the potential to shoot really low of course, say eight or nine under, somehow I have my doubts.
Chris Kirk on the other hand is also well placed but he must be the most boring golfer ever, even the commentators were alluding to this yesterday. Never really shows much emotion. Although I guess from a punting perspective you can use this to your advantage, as he will generally fly under the radar, as most punters will just ignore him. Whenever he's won he's always been a big price |
