I'm not saying this horse was an eye-catcher or will even win a race, and it seems he hasn't been up to much so far over hurdles or on the Flat, but I did wonder what was going on with it on Friday night.

The horse in question is Noble King (Martin / JP), who was making a bit of laboured headway in the 8.05, with Berry just waving his whip at it, when suddenly he just stops riding, stands up in the saddle and eases the horse!

Anyone know if Berry gave a reason why he eased the horse?

Have a look at the horse coming out of the stalls. I can give you the real reason why he eased him but i’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out!

Wink

Also wondered what was going on with I Will Excel in the 6.05. Admittedly he was ridden by a 10lb claimer, but still unacceptable imo to wait until the race was virtually over before making an effort having sat way off the pace.

I backed it but knew my faith before hand and laid it in running for a loss. The horse is thrown in. Wasn't going to win but Berry eases up and horses head going up in the air was hilarious to witness.

The odd thing BWS is that i don’t know what they are waiting for. He can’t run off any lower of a mark on the AW. He was such an eyecatcher that they probably can’t go for him the next day either. Maybe drop him into a mile or 10f race next time.

That's true, he can't go any lower but he had just had his first outing of season over hurdles where he was also an eye catcher and they probably wanted to give him a sighter and go for him on his third start.   Don't know what Berry was at because I don't think he would have finished in the first three??
He seems to be settling much better than previously as well.

Kavvie they are only interested in going after the small guy!

Maybe he’s more forward than they realised. The call could have gone over the trainer’s head too. Generally not too hard to anticipate them over jumps but it’s another story trying to call the green and gold on the flat.

In the 7.05 buster dan dan was also given a "curious" ride for a front runer over hurdles.

Missed the break and didn't have d toe to get there. Looked all to sea on the surface.coming from running on heavy ground to poly track would be a shock to the system.

Liked Reckless Lads run there Friday, came from an impossible position, seems to like the place and though near a career high he  will be at least a "place" horse there for the coming weeks.

The op answered his own question. When you see "(Martin / JP)", the case is solved.

Noble King was reported by Berry to have hung right all the way

My old man used to say "the day you think they wouldn't have the balls to do it, is the day they will do it"

I remember him telling me to back Redundant pal for the ladbroke hurdle when only 7 days previous he was beaten in a 2 horse race by Firions law, I told him the men in the white coats will be here for you soon but as usual he had the last laugh.
