Coolmore have been wrapping Gleneagles in cotton wool all season but then decide to run him on the dirt tonight!
Like all of Ballydoyles previous battalions in the classic he has absolutely zero chance. More likely to be pulled up after halfway than ever running a place.

Agree. Horse has zero chance of a place. It really is the greatest lay of the year. He is not likely to stay the trip and will be held up and in the kick back. How morons could contemplate backing this to place at 5/2 i don't know!

Does anyone have any stats of Galileo progeny on dirt?   I don't think the trip is a problem.

I wouldn't be a layer at double figures.

Ah you'll always have the o Brien mugs, ye know the type in the bookies they see his name they automatically back it,
O'brien has a dreadful record at the breeders cup, his horses will never win on the dirt, I'm pretty sure if you layer all his runners over the tease you'd be well up, that's nothing to do with his ability to train horses obviously, I don't get why they dint try go gate to wire with gleneagles so he'll avoid the kick back he's obviously gonna hate, more than likely will make no difference whatsoever but worth a try at least.

I wouldn't be a place layer.

I never liked Gleneagles as a two year old but he is a fast ground loving miler, the ground is fast,he is on an easy racecourse the 10 furlongs will be more like 9,if he acts on the dirt he cannot be unplaced.

He is also trained by a genius who can transform horses.

A fast ground loving miler is in a completely different world to running on dirt over a couple of furlongs more, he is not bred for the game, he has no chance, as I said, I'd have him more likely to be pulled up

Henrythenavigator ran on a synthetic surface, declaration of war was bred for the dirt, giants causeway too far back for me to recall,
Gleneagles should not be running on the dirt.

Missed this, Gleneagles was always a gillion. The one that they wanted won and Gleneagles was never going to shake that up even if they had wanted him to. he's a bloody pony. This excursion was a shot to nothing and totally disingenuous.

For the following.

Q. "Why didn't you run the horse all season?"

Coolmore A: "Because the ground wasn't right but don't worry he's a machine, the best miler we've had, we have every faith, he could do anything granted a surface."

Reality: He was a precocious 2yo that won the last 2yo race (he went off at 4/1 - 9/2 or something ffs, they didn't think he'd win), the 2000 Guineas and was basically "done" afterward , and then laboured at the Curragh against rubbish, even if the ground was wrong!

Q:"Why run the fastest miler you've ever had on dirt over 10f?"

Coolmore: "Because he is that good, and we have that much faith in him, he could do anything. We can't show you next year though, as the only true precocious miling son of Galileo, we need him on the farm"

Reality: We ran him at Ascot when we knew the ground was wrong so we would have an inbuilt excuse. He was actually shot to s hit. We ran him tonight as a disingenuous show of faith in the horse and on the off chance he might figure in some way, it would give the result a solid look for the one we actually wanted here, it was a garbage renewal.

O'Brien should be admired for running his star horses in the Classic. He could have 5 BC Mile's on his CV by now, instead the likes of Giants Causeway, Hawk Wing, George Washington * 2, Henrythenavigator ran in the Classic. Giants Causeway was very close and George Washington would've been a lot closer the first time round were it for being battered on the home turn by one of the American horses.

Cannot believe that Found is only joint second favourite -had a decent each way bet at 7/2.Nap of the meeting is a place lay of Limato at odds on -this will be a very different test to anything he has faced previously and I also have a serious doubt about the jockey.Cougar Mountain might be a place only bet at double figure odds.

Highland Reel swept to a wire-to-wire victory in the $4 million Turf at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, giving Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien an 11th Breeders' Cup victory but his first of 2016. Jockey Seamus Heffernan's bold ride paid off with a first Breeders' Cup victory ahead of Flintshire and defending champion Found.

The O'Brien-trained Found had beaten Highland Reel across the line at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last month, but it was her stablemate who found the going to his liking on the sunbaked turf course in California. Highland Reel led the field down the hill from the starting gate, notching a quick 48 seconds for the first half-mile.
The winner of the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot extended his lead on the backstretch, opening a gap of eight lengths that his rivals were finally unable to close.

"He's the type of horse that's brave in front," Heffernan said. "And when he wants to go, you let him go and he turns it on. "I thought there were a few horses that were going to come from the back and come quick. So if I was going, I wanted to go early."

Flintshire jockey Javier Castellano seemed to be taken by surprise. "He tried to steal the race and he stole it," said Castellano, whose mount was sent off as the 9-5 favorite but finished 1 3/4 lengths behind. "Usually you don't see the European horses run so aggressively, open up and carry their speed," Castellano added, "especially at 1 1/2 miles -- but it worked out great for him."
Flintshire trainer Chad Brown said there was nothing Castellano could have done on the day. "The course is very, very firm and when you have a classy horse (Highland Reel) like that alone on the lead, it's dangerous," Brown said. "We had no excuses."

Found, ridden by Ryan Moore, recovered well from an awkward start but even running well at the end never looked like challenging Highland Reel. Heffernan said Moore had told him before the race that it could well be Highland Reel's day. "Ryan Moore told me it was his best chance on this track the way the ground was," he said. "I wasn't sure if I was given the chance, I'd want it to be firm, but Ryan was right."
O'Brien's sixth Breeders' Cup Turf triumph was his 22nd Group or Grade One win in what has been a remarkable 2016 campaign.
