I agree Wildman.Maybe splitting with O Connell was the turning point for him.Seems much improved lately.Fair play to the kid.

I would have seen Danny as a negative for a long time but he has certainly improved in recent months. For a start he's riding a lot deeper. I expect riding less on the Flat has also been a help.

A confidence game and he's definitely improved from March onwards last year,(Felix Yonger at Punch was a fine ride)

If his surname wasn't Mullins, he wouldn't have got a first chance let alone a second one.

Apart from, Des McDonagh the majority of his winners have been from his parents or his uncle(who wouldn't look good on Willies?)

Early days and would be still wary going forward yet.

He has improved , most certainly he has, but its not before time.
Whether he takes the next step is another thing, and my guess is he wont.

He has always been a good rider, as a kid he was a top class showjumper and top rider on the pony racing circuit.
He lost his claim in no time on the flat and when his weight brought about the switch to jumps, at 19 ,he had to gain experience without the claim, which is far from easy ( jack kennedy, david mullins etc started over jumps claimimg 7)
The critisism of him by some on here has been way o.t.t......one race that springs to mind was the stick he got for giving vautour a soft lead  when second on the tullow tank...it was all danny's fault

Speaking of The Tullow Tank, it’s almost two years since Danny gave that horse one of the worst winning rides I have ever seen in his maiden hurdle victory. He’s riding with far more of a brain these days.

What way would you have ridden The Tullow Tank, TTK? What did he do wrong?

I thought is was a very good ride to beat the odds on favourite.

He got tapped for toe, going to the last, over an inadequate trip, and got boxed in. He brought the horse wide jumped the last and ran on strongly to win easily, hands and heels, without having to use his whip. I thought he was ice cool under the circumstances.

He did his best to get a certainty beat. Had him unsighted at most of the hurdles when it mattered and didn’t concern himself with getting out until was almost too late. Horse wasn’t caught flat footed, he got hit by another rival and lost ground. Danny had to dramatically pull out after which the horse took off any got him out of trouble. It should have been an on the bridle job.

I’d say you would argue black was white Gotchee. However, even you have refrained from posting again on the other thread. I presume this is in the hope that it quietly slips away. No-one will ever forget that Galileo statement, don’t you worry about that.

TTk/dj876, as I told you before, you are out of your depth when it comes to bloodstock and matters on breeding.  Similarly, you appear to have a poor level of understanding when it comes to race reading.Cool

He has improved lately but he was starting from a very low base.  His presentation of horses over fences is still poor and style wise he looks awful both over hurdles and fences.  Wouldnt be in the top 20 riders NH in the country.
