The Turkish Airlines Open is just three years old. Played at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal, a par 72 (7,133-yds) with five par fives and five par threes in the golf resort town of Belek. Players have their eyes on more than one target this week as they are also concerned with maintaining or gaining their place in the Race To Dubai's Top 60 which will earn a place in the final event of the season, the DP World Tour Championship. Both Dubuisson and Koepka were first-time European Tour winners when they lifted this trophy so maybe Lucas will be the third.

Danny Willett 22/1 Currently second in the Race to Dubai and will want that top spot more than most - and for the related sponsorship bonuses that come with it (as his manager Chubby Chandler told Golf International magazine this month). Fourth here 12 months ago.
Andy Sullivan 22/1 won in Portugal two weeks ago by nine shots to secure his third win of the season - the only three-time winner on the Euro Tour this season. His first visit to Belek last year was a fourth placed finish that might have been better but for a poor second round (67-75-66-67).
Poulter is the danger-man as he loves this course - broken 70 in seven of his eight rounds - 2nd last year and 5th in 2013 and this is his time of year although it's three years since he last won.

In KL, Kuala Lumpur G&CC plays to a par of 72, a mere 6,985 yards. The Classic does not feature a cut so POD will surely get 4 rounds in this week. Course history doesn’t stop with Ryan Moore's victories in 2013 and 2014 CIMB Classics. It also includes each Maybank Malaysian Open since 2010.

Gary Woodland 40/1 is almost as good as Ryan Moore on this track as the bomber has back-to-back runner-up finishes behind him in this event.
Brendon De Jonge 66/1 - shot 70,73,65,71 for T13 last year.
Kevin Chappell 80/1 - faded to a T13 last year with 69,68,70,72.
Anirban Lahiri may be a danger-man while his CIMB record isn’t all that good at KL G&CC, Lahiri won the most recent Maybank Malaysian Open and bagged a top 10 in 2014 and is T2-T7 in his last two starts leading up to this week.

Two decent events this week, just a shame the CIMB is on at such an unsociable hour for viewers.

In Malaysia, Henrik Stenson looks a standout.

OK, 7-1 on a serial runner up may not scream value, but he without doubt arrives as the best player and most in form player in the field. He went mighty close to lifting the Fed Ex cup again a few weeks ago, only for an inspired Jordan Spieth to produce a putting display that could only be described as ridiculous. It broke Henriks heart, but he was in sublime form all week and this course looks tailor made for his tee to green prowess to shine.

Whoever beats him will win, and in the limited field playing e.w at 7-1 seems an excellent bet to me.

Danny Lee also finished last season in tremendous form. His win a few months ago has transformed him from a nearly man seemingly wasting his talent, into a player who should now be feared wherever he plays. He may have won more than once, but for a slightly wayward putter. That aspect though has been improving and with soft conditions forecast, I can see him throwing his darts closer than most others this week.

Paul Casey too threatened a win at the tail end of the season, and though never one to trust implicitly in a battle, he does seem more adept at getting the job done on far flung shores. The course set up is tailor made for this long and accurate hitter, and he should be right in the hunt come the early hours of Sunday morning.

Another player who will relish the soft conditions is Scott Piercy. A birdie machine when given the right conditions, Piercy found some form in the last 6 weeks and its easy to see him make birdies aplenty this week.

Morgan Hoffman was very poor in contention last Sunday, and that need  forgiving. But them opening 6 holes apart, its obvious he is in cracking form, and it wouldn't be the first time a maiden threw away a winning chance one week,  before bouncing right back to win the next. 100-1 represents a decent bet, as does the 80-1 for FRL.

The above comments could be said about Justin Thomas too, but this future star just seems a bit short this week. If he had a win under his belt, he may have been of interest even at the price, but with a alight doubt about the suitability of the venue and his bottle, I will leave him alone.

4pts e.w Henrik Stenson 7-1
1.2pt e.w Danny Lee 28-1
1.2pt e.w Paul Casey 28-1
.6pt e.w Scott Piercy 55-1
.3pt e.w Morgan Hoffman 100-1

.2pt e.w Hoffman FRL 80-1

The Turkish Airlines Open sees the next step on the road to recovery for Rory McIlroy. I think Rory is very close to winning, and on a course with 5 par 5s he was tempting this week.

But I think he is short of a bit of confidence at the moment, a combination of the sublime play in recent months of Jason Day and Jordan Spieth, and also his recent putting woes. I would prefer to back him off the back of a win, or a good putting week. He win a few on the trot when the confidence returns.

Shane Lowry himself has had some putting woes in his two recent outings. But his tee to green play has been incredible. Shane can often can putt poorly, and miss too many short ones, but it comes good on occasion too. If he has a good putting week over the next month, he will win one, and at the prices I will be with him until then.

Andy Sullivan doesn't get the credit he deserves. A 3 time winner this year, he has no qualms about converting winning opportunities. His win in the Portugal Masters was superb. If Rory had won in such fashion, the media and golfing world would still be drooling at the way he did it. Sullivan will have his sights set on winning the RTD and if he continues in that vein of form it will take a mighty effort to stop him.

I hate backing the little runt, but Ian Poulter brings outstanding credentials this week, and had to be included. Always dangerous at this time of year, he obviously likes the track, and played very well in far from ideal circumstances last week.

2pts e.w Shane Lowry 16-1
1.5pt e.w Andy Sullivan 22-1
1.2pt e.w Ian Poulter 25-1

With the limited fields, but still 5 places this week, the e.w doubles looked well worth doing.

3 x .5pt e.w Doubles
Stenson x Lowry/Sullivan/Poulter
12 x .2pt e.w Doubles
Casey/Lee/Piercy/Hoffman x Lowry/Sullivan/Poulter

Best of Luck all.

A very flaky bunch ahead of him, he will be very disappointed if he doesn't get the job done this weekend.

Double champion Ryan Moore is on the fringes of contention in the CIMB, and looks sure to put in yet another decent 18 holes tonight. 13-10 represents a decent bet that he accounts for Jim Herman and Keegan Bradley.

Thomas looked like having a commanding lead going into today, but threw in a few nervy shots when 4 clear.

The last was very frustrating from a Scott Piercy backers point of view. He went to the tee -19 on the leaderboard, they proceeded to change that to -18, then he makes an absolute boll*x out of the hole and takes DB.

I wouldnt be keen to lay JT on his own at 3.5, as in effect I would be having quite a large portion of my stake on Na and Steele. I would trust neither.

So have laid the 3 of them at 1.43 combined. Them playing in a 3 ball may be a bonus, rather than having one of them with someone else. If they get off to an edgy start, they might drag each other into the mire.

7pt Lay Thomas, Na & Steele @ 1.43 (potential loss 3pts)
Report callitasucit October 31, 2015 10:21 PM GMT
Cameron Tringale also looks a good bet in his 3 ball. In fine form of late, he can usually be relied upon to produce a decent Sunday performance from a position such as he is in now.

Neither Alex Cjeka or Stewart Cink inspire confidence these days when the dollars are being handed out.

For those snookerpunter's on here...
John Higgins looked back to his brilliant best when taking his 28th ranking tournament in China last weekend. He was majestic in all of his matches; never looking in doubt en-route to the final (which he won by 10 frames to 5). Defeating Dave Gilbert in the final, he also accounted for Mark Selby (9-4) in the semi-finals and whitewashed Shaun Murphy 6-0 in the third round.
Given his display, and the fact that so many of the established name players are performing dreadfully, I think his 16/1 price (Billie Hills, Wetfred and other select firms) for the UK Championships is massive. It starts November 24th so get in early before the price goes! (with tks to Distant View's buddy on © BS). Devil
