Legendary actress Maureen O'Hara, best known for her roles in "Miracle on 34th Street" and films by John Ford, died Saturday of natural causes, her family said.

O'Hara, 95, passed away in her sleep at home in Boise, Idaho.

I lived on Beechwood Avenue for a while in the early 80s. Wasn't aware, until reading this thread, that she lived there and was also a Shamrock Rovers fan (through her Dad) - she didn't have too far to go to Milltown.

By coincidence I was watching her favourite film, The Quiet Man, on More 4 around Sat lunchtime with a friend.

Most of the stars of the golden era of movies have left us Reb,.. Olivia de Havilland will be a 100years next birthday and Kirk Douglas will be 99years old in Dec are still knocking around.

Yes frank, they've certainly left us physically but live on in their films at least.

By further coincidence, I was talking with another friend this afternoon about my favourite Kirk Douglas film when he played Vincent Van Gogh in "Lust For Life".
