Haunting video footage of the devastation in Kobani City, Syria.

I'll let the images speak for themselves.

no thread for the travellers Ozy?? NIMBYism

I have the feeling that 'whatabouterry' is tattooed on your soul.  It's your dumb, default response to everything.
Report freddiek October 22, 2015 9:27 PM BST
did the Traveller tragedy even register with you?

i think you have tunnel-vision from constantly promoting Islamic immigration to Ireland
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 9:36 PM BST
I rang up Boylesp0rts the other day.

"Hello I'm Freddie, how can I help you?" (at least I think that's what he said....in that awful undecipherable Dundalk drawl)

It couldn't be, could it?  One of my groupies manning the phones at B0yles, could it?

With a speed of wit and imagination which impressed even Moi, I replied;

"Id like you to price up a double for me, please"

"Certainly, Sir"

" First Leg:  Liverpool to never win the Premiership in my lifetime.  Second Leg:  No United Ireland in my lifetime"

The line went dead. Gotcha, Freddie!

Ozymandius was at the funeral,he actually gave the eulogy.

'twas hard to understand betwixt the snivelling and crying, surely it would have been better for some less emotional type to bestride the altar.

Only 6 pairs of eyeballs, Borneo, we deserve more.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:04 PM BST
We'll give it a whirl anyway.

What do you want? An Ireland with its heart and borders closed to mercy? Or an Ireland with its heart open?
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 10:12 PM BST
An Ireland with its heart open to its own.

An Ireland that can house its own people.

An Ireland not governed by emotionalism accompanied by gesture politics.

An Ireland governed by reason not on the Elite feeling good about themselves.
Report freddiek October 22, 2015 10:14 PM BST
stop preaching to us from abroad Ozy.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:19 PM BST
My heart doesn't know national boundaries.

My head knows there is no them, only us.

My soul knows real suffering on an unimaginable scale when it sees it.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:20 PM BST
Sorry, Freddie, you know I don't see you, when Borneo walks in the room.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 10:26 PM BST
A heart that doesn't know national boundaries isint a heart at all,it definitely isint an Irish heart.

I also don't believe your heart doesn't know boundaries,it certainly knew them during some recent rugby matches

You may think there is no them only us but when the religion of peace gets hold they will certainly view you as a them.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:32 PM BST
A heart that is constrained by national boundaries isn't a heart at all, definitely not an Irish heart.

We're better than that.

No religion is about to get hold of me anytime soon, thankfully.  Blessings are not just for those who kneel.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 10:35 PM BST
That heart wasn't beating faster when Ireland got within three points of Argentina for nothing.

I'd say you hate the groups that agree with you,the Greens and the extreme left.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:43 PM BST
Not sure why you think national pride at a sporting event equates to a heart that is closed to the suffering captured above.

Issues on this scale transcend traditional political differences.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 10:51 PM BST
National pride is innate.

The Elite need to break this to force through their European super state.

The corpulent Peter Sutherland has taken to preaching this from altars.

Your heart doesn't have to be closed to suffering for you to want to preserve your nation state.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:55 PM BST
Preserving the nation state is not mutually exclusive from helping the people of Kobani.

To suggest that it is, is pathetic scaremongering.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 10:59 PM BST
Nigel is on QT btw.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 11:04 PM BST
Question Time starts an hour later on the BBC here.

Transporting the people of Kobani half way across the globe is bad for them and disastrous for Europe.

There was secular governments in the Middle East but some lunatics couldn't wait to interfere and now they are reaping the whirlwind.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 11:18 PM BST
It is far from halfway across the globe, they are on Europe's doorstep.

You can debate the root cause of the problems in the Middle East all night but it doesn't change the plight and the suffering of the people of Kobani.  We have a moral duty to help in whatever way we can.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 11:24 PM BST
Its half way across the globe to Ireland.

Does help in whatever way we can have to mean importing them into Ireland.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 11:31 PM BST
My globe is bigger than yours, literally and figuratively.

They need and deserve to be rehoused somewhere safe, we should take our share as part of an integrated European plan.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 22, 2015 11:40 PM BST
I accept your globe is bigger than mine although I did a Phileas Fogg impression earlier this year.
Report Ozymandius October 22, 2015 11:45 PM BST
Indeed.

I hadn't realised that the distance from the North Pole to the Equator was exactly 10,000Kms.

When the metric system was set up, the meter was defined so that the distance from the equator to the pole so that it would be exactly ten million meters or 10,000 kilometers, making the circumference 40,000 kilometers.

One must be delighted with the harmony shown to their brothers on Kos,by refugees from Pakistan, Afgan, Iran, towards one another.Multicurtlrism  my arse, they hate one another, yet we have the likes of Ozy etc telling us how wonderful it is. Take a peek at those people in HARMONY .Laugh
Report Ozymandius October 23, 2015 2:26 PM BST
That's all distracting noise, Wonks.

The bottom line here is that there are people in Syria in urgent need.  Their religion, their harmony or otherwise, the difficulties of multiculturalism are all secondary issues and only the weak and the unprincipled hide behind them.
Report workrider October 23, 2015 3:33 PM BST
So we agree then ,most of those fighting to get ahead of them on the q don't give a **** about their BROTHERS ,so HOW do we help,  in your eyes, REAL REFUGEES , if we don't first seperate the rouges and filter the Syrians through . This multiculturalism you champion is nothing but a veil. It always amazes me how whole scale violence is acceptable to you when committed  by ANY of these groups , yet someone DARE call one of yours a rude name and you go ballistic. Sadly it seems you have what I would call a confused mind ,you fail to see whats really going on here , lets seperate the wheat from the chaff and maybe those people you're so worried about might be better looked after , btw I'm getting the impression you're of the David camp, boyfriend a Syrian lad maybe ?
Report Ozymandius October 23, 2015 3:52 PM BST
Is there really any need for crass homophobia in a serious conversation abut human suffering?

You are a fool and have no place in any serious conversation.  This childlike habit of inventing peoples views (for example in the above post; 1. wholescale violence is acceptable to me and 2.  I champion multiculturalism)...Where do you get these ideas from?

Last week you were calling me a leftie?!?!

You really are completely clueless.  Please leave the serious topics to the adults.

In the meantime, here are some straightforward, easy to follow books to introduce you to the terms and labels you throw around wily nily (mainly because The Commander has used them) without knowing what they mean;

Please stop embarrassing yourself.

Talking about the million are so heading to Germany it is proven only 20%ish are genuine "refugees", in reality the correct name for them is "economic migrants". Workrider is right.

Tribal Pa, we have been through this several times.

The thread title is Kobani City; that's the first clue. The discussion refers to those people displacedy this conflict, namely Syrian refugees.  If you wish to reread each of my posts on this thread, that will become clear to you.
