Jim explained the reason behind the night: "It's a fundraising event for the player's holiday which will take place in early December, their off-season. We're going to try and bring them away as close to the equator as we can get to get some sunshine on those bones that have been working really hard during the year."
Gavin says for him, the players and the management team it's great to give something back for all the support they've received this year: And they try and pass it off as doing it for the fans, the admission price into Shelbourne is €20 for the night, the same as Derby Final Night. the biggest night of the year and double the normal price which is also the price for the Night Of Stars on November 14th, the 2nd biggest night of the year. Absolutely scandalous if ya ask me, please god they end up with a pathetic turn out. |

If I was a Dub I'd attend.
These young men gave up their time, provided a lot of people with entertainment, played in front of huge crowds and received nothing, you hardly begrudge them a holiday. |

I was one of those huge crowds for near all the games, paid good money to watch those games. I am not begrudging anybody a holiday but pay it out of your own pocket like the other 99.99999999999999999999999999999% of the people in the country.
Plus I severely doubt they received nothing, sure Bernard must be on a tidy little packet for the 66 advertisements he does for various companies |

How can you say your a Dub fan and begrudge these lads a holiday fundraiser?! It's a great idea for fans and players.

They should have a holiday but the GAA should pay for it, how many times did they fill Croke Park this year?
Typical GAA mongrels, the team that wins the All ireland should have a proper holiday in a proper place funded entirely by the GAA. The Dublin management should be in a position to say, if we are not looked after this year, then we wont play next year. |

Surely there is something in the AIG sponsorship that would reward success?
The deal is plenty large enough in the first place to accommodate a holiday if they won the All Ireland, but with the additional exposure in terms of live TV, Press articles on matches, player interviews etc, AIG gets plenty more brand exposure and the players and staff should be rewarded from within the contract. |

They'll get a fine holiday, don't worry about that. It's one of the few legal ways the players can get paid. They sponsors or "supporters clubs" always come up with this. Supermacs put in e20000 for the Galway hurlers. This is just a fundraiser, it'll obviously attract a lot more if they hang 'Players Holidays' out of it. When your main team is costing well over a million to run for the year, you need all the dough you can get.

What are you talking about ?. Costing well over a million a year to run my hole, the gates from Dublin games this year would be far in excess of 20 million.

Dublin
Income: €3,264,394 Expenditure: €3,105,613 Surplus: €158,781 A decent surplus, but their spend on inter-county preparation was still the highest by some distance, in excess of €1.6m, despite not being in an All-Ireland football final and their early exit in the hurling championship. That was 2013. I'm sure last year was higher, not saying it's right but that's what they're spending. |

Im not saying you are wrong at all, but what i am saying is that its an absolute disgrace that the best and most marketable team in the game have to go the dogs with their cap in hand.

It's inappropriate.
Privately, the player's attitude to this carry on is one of unease, embarrassment and bordering on resentment. But hey?they will get a good drink and night out of it and a holiday,so f**k it. |
