if this one runs up to lto then must go close now handicapping..if Cliffside park runs well in the race before that will help the form

Hi Tony, a bit worried about the form of the last race it won......... the pace was very sedate and the second horse is not a 2m4f horse and is only rated 100 and gave your selection 8lbs......

Tony I usually try and save you a few Euro on your selections and will do so again here. There are two huge negatives against your horse. The first, this is the horses second run after a long layoff. The second, this is its first handicap.  As has been pointed out before, there are only a handful of horses that win on their handicap debuts in Ireland. Most need a spin to get their eye in.
This is not like England where most of their handicaps are garbage. This horse should be double the price it is and it won't win.
A sporting selection would be Italian Riveria but taking a chance with a poor trainer.

I thought it was a convincing win and may be able to set a steady pace here. Not sure if the 2nd run after a layoff is that much of a negative and would look on it as more of a positive.
Very hard to be convinced with any of his rivals,i would tend to be for him and the 5/2 is a decent price imo.

The price is right @5/2 11/4.... but not value........ he may get an uncontested lead and that could enhanced his chance....... I have no bet in the race.... far too many question marks........
I`m sure there are stronger (more boxes ticked) 5/2 shots out there over the coming days

The price of 5/2 is most certainly not right. The horse should be 7/2+. Think you would want your head examined backing it. Best of luck though.

I think the price is right because of the uncontested lead?? if you want to give 7/2+ u need ur head examined??? The race is littered with question marks and this horse can easily make-all or could be beaten fair and square, it`s one of those one`s.......

Ur slection will travel and jump well on this sounder ground.... but worried about when push comes to shove with him.

Never had a chance.  2 Rules for ye boys.  Never back one first time in a handicap and dont back one second run off a layoff.  You wont go far wrong.  Horse should have been a lot bigger than 5/2.

Cloone River appears quite shrewd, did well in the recent competition too.  A shame we don't hear more from him.

That's racing, Tony.

Saw that Mick Winters gave his mare in the bumper a serious talking up but she was nowhere. Question lads, would we reckon that he actually really rates her, or was it just that these were new owners who had spent a lot of money to acquire this mare and he wanted to let on that she had ability with her second career in mind? Incidentally I thought she finished closer than it looked like she would.

Winters would typically be a pretty straight shooter I'd have found and his explanation for Rebel Fitz seemed pretty satisfactory. They'd gone too easy on him.

Few thoughts on the card (after the events I know), 4:15: Gallant Tipp's  was sloppy as hell, but the ride he got to a point and the heavy weight of money for him showed how wanted he was. His hurdles mark won't be surpassed but you'd think he'll pick another chase before the better winter horses come out. Didn't think I'lltakeitfromhere was mad busy and his form with OldCastletown from a while back looks good now. Mark Walsh finished like a train on the third who had the form to suggest he might do a little better than this as a young horse, needs this surface though obviously.

OC horse jumped as well as you could ever wish for in the 4:45 and that will stand to him particularly before the scopier winter horses come out. those today just couldn't live with it.

Bowenscourt wasn't wanted at all in the 2:35, form of race probably ain't worth much for all the winner travelled really well. The trainer seemed to think a lot of the winning mare Presenting Mahler declaring her better than "ordinary", said the mare of his that fell behind Perfect Woman yesterday when challenging was fancied. Presenting Mahler travelled particularly sweetly in the ground, so well that she probably needs it as trainer alluded to. Getting Late seemed to try.

Vintage Supreme travelled better than the result suggested in the 3:40, he might have felt the effects of 3 relatively quick runs. tried to give 12lb to Whiskey Galore a while back and that looks a better effort now. Winters said the winner needed the ground despite him being by Turtle Island and ATR man in studio saying he'd prefer cut after.

Mullins horse travelled into it well in the bumper and looked pretty professional, don't know how much more there is to come there. The winner was pretty exposed but found loads, more than looked likely even.

Thought Walsh was brilliant in an understated kind of way on Oldcastletown.

I will be interested to see how Blazes Peg runs next time.

The mother generally was ridden aggressively and found plenty for driving. This mare looked lazy and Maguire seemed to be bustling her up a bit for quite a lot of the race, but it was not hard driving. She was still quite a few lengths off the pace as they approached the turn in, but when he got more aggressive she seemed to start responding. He quickly dispensed with the hard pushing and let her come home in her own time.

I think she could have been quite a bit closer today if he had driven her out up the straight, but it is difficult to be certain. It is unlikely that she is a star, but there looks to be ability there and a big improvement next time would not be a surprise at all. Stepping up a little in trip would benefit her as well.

She was backed off the boards D V and was expected to win, obviously was showing a bit. I think you are right that she will improve and here will suit her more than Clonmel.
On the face of it she will have to find a bit with Glendine River(2nd +13L) and Cashelard Lady(4th +3L). On the book no but all in certainly possible to turn it around with them 2. Petuna had Glendine River 4L behind at Wexford and i think she should again hold her again.
Liked Earth Sister run, cracking debut where she cantered up and stayed very well and put a fair distance back to the rest of the field (maybe not the strongest field tbf).
Interesting to see how it is priced up

She isn't a worldbeater or anything WR but there was obviously a bit of hype with her on debut bumper and fair comments above with Neill D and Distant View regarding her. Might very well stay away from having a punt, but think it is an intriguing little race all the same.
