THE pressure on Golden Horn's price for Sunday's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe continued on Monday morning with the Investec Derby winner cut to 5-1 (from 6) in many places.
News that dry weather is expected in Paris for the week ahead resulted in Golden Horn being cut to to 6-1 (from 7-1) on Sunday to land the Group 1 contest at Longchamp and bookmakers shortened the three-year-old further on Monday.
Betfred, Totesport, bet365 and Coral all reduced Golden Horn's odds for victory to 5-1 (from 6) with William Hill going 11-2 (from 6). Other firms have held 6-1 but are now in the minority.
The going at Longchamp on Monday was described as soft, and trainer John Gosden has confirmed Golden Horn, winner of the Irish Champion Stakes on his latest start, will be supplemented for €120,000 on Thursday if conditions at Longchamp are good to soft or better, and that prospect increased following the latest bulletin from Meteo France on Sunday.
Official going on Arc day
John Gosden wants ground no worse than good to soft for Golden Horn, conditions he would have had in two of the last five years.

2012 - Heavy
2011 - Good
2010 - Very soft Can he beat Treve, ? i doubt it

Golden Horn wouldn't beat Treve if he started now,No matter what ground,I literally laughed out loud when i heard GH owner on ATR this evening sating his horse would beat Treve "easily" on good ground,The man must be on Drugs if he really believes that.
Im not one for backing odds on shots but i genuinely believe Treve is literally buying money,The Horse is an absolute freak,I mean if her turn of foot and how she travels in her races doesn't excite ye then your in the wrong game,I think she's even better than Zarkava and we all know how good she was.just a matter of how far she win's imo and i cannot wait to see her unleash that trademark blistering turn of foot at the 2 F marker.

The only thing I would say in Golden Horn's defence, that on ratings he is very close to Treve (ok that might not mean much)
most of her more impressive performances have been on rain softened ground, and it looks like the going will be drying up for Sunday, she ran very fast last time out, so she might bounce,
And perhaps most importantly of all, Frankie knows Treve, he knows her strengths and her weaknesses, having ridden her before. This might not mean much because as you say the chances are her main strength, her lightning turn of foot, will simply overwhelm Golden Horn and the rest in the straight.
But if it doesn't then this knowledge of her might prove crucial. I'm not convinced about Treve in a battle if Golden Horn can eyeball her, but she's probably so quick he won't get that chance.

Although the weather in the Paris environs was on Monday as perfect as one could dare hope for in autumn, Head-Maarek is confident conditions will not ride quick at Longchamp and pointed to the very wet grass around Les Aigles to support her claim.

Only question is , how did Golden Horn get beaten at York ? ( even allowing for ground conditions ) .
Given the change in going conditions between Leopardstown and yesterday , Golden Horn and Free Eagle ( bumped by Treve ) ran very close to what I would have expected yesterday , the form obviously sound . Make the most of the publicity Leopardstown . If we had had a better summer , Golden Horn might be being mentioned in despatches as up there with some of the best ever . Gosden is a brilliant trainer .
