I have no shame in admitting that I am selfishly interested in the macroeconomic performance of the economy.

I admire Borneo's tenacity but there isn't any balance in how he presents his viewpoint and the inference that immigration has destroyed the UK's economy is factually incorrect.

My solution to this issue would be more radical and less politically correct but sadly Ireland's leaders are followers rather than innovators since CJ Haughey.(ignoring some minor transgressions)

I don't think immigration has destroyed the UKs economy,I think it has destroyed the fabric of UK society.

Immigration should be managed.

I doubt if The Roma are economic power houses for the UK economy.
I doubt the Jihadists are economic power houses either.

That's a slight moderation from you as you have definitely stated  on various threads over the years  that it has also destroyed the UK'S economy.

I think that you should highlight some of the economic benefits that it could bring if it was properly managed and not exclusively the doomsday scenario.

Also there is a level of hypocrisy attached to your criticisms of the Europe (it's governance is a shambles tbf) when your own particular industry have being one of the major benefactors. Do you not receive a CAP payment,what is your viewpoint on the grants that farmers receive for the lease of their land?

Subsidies suit the big farmer and don't suit the consumer.
The New Zealand farmer is profitable without subsidies.

If I was a big farmer receiving loads of grants from the EEC I could still criticise it,it wouldn't be hypocritical.

There are in excess of 2 million Poles living in Germany, there are approximately 100,000 Poles in Ireland.

I would completely reform the welfare system and would double it for 10 year contributors for an initial period of 3 months, the payment would then reduce by 10% for every subsequent month until it reached a basement level of €80. (more than sufficient with accommodation provided)

New entrants would start at the basement level but I would give them employment in SOE's which would operate in under invested sectors which would return a dividend to the exchequer.

Unemployment in 04/05 in Germany = 11-12 %, unemployment in 2015 = 5.5% (considered almost full employment)

Germans are obsessed/ fearful of inflation/hyper-inflation for obvious reasons and see this as an opportunity to enhance or at least consolidate future levels of competitiveness .

Update of Cologne: The police speaks of 1,000 arab attackers

"What women have experienced there were rapes," said a police officer on the incidents on New Year's Eve in front of the Cologne Central Station. Crowds of men had groped women, threatened, humiliated and robbed. Until Monday went to the police a 60 indicators, including rape. There were mainly stolen wallet and mobile phones. It is believed that many of the victims have not yet been reported.

Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker convened a crisis meeting. She called police and federal police to take action.

Even the Cologne CDU boss Bernd Petelkau demanded: "police, judiciary and the municipal clerk's office must work together to ensure that such abuses be stopped immediately and allowed to repeat never - even with regard to other major events such as the carnival," the Express , The newspaper published a photograph of the offender, which was taken by a cell phone of the victims.

Police said that the attacks had their starting point in a group of about 1,000 men. This reported the news agency DTS.

13/8 is money for jam but it's a novelty market, the numbers will dictate that it's the only viable option. You can ignore every utterance about possible coalitions/ election manifestos from leaders prior to the election as a result of the coalition we had to compromise.

Labour will be destroyed as every minor coalition party in the history of the state has been. It's hardly surprising given spoofers like Ciara Conway and the man child AK47. Lucky to reach double figures.

Lucinda Creighton has let herself down by initially hiring the Cork spoofer Eddie Hobbs and now by releasing an election manifesto that alienates her from potential voters. None of the parties manifestos will be mathematically possible so foolish to include cost reductions.

All she needed to do was bang on about political reform,a viable alternative and change. Political reform (ie changing to a list system) is the only way to get rid of these inarticulate County Councillor types and teachers running an 190 billion business. I could have doodled a more effective and eye-catching manifesto on my lunch break. She has been badly advised but has let her herself down by releasing it.

Far from it DJ, for FG/FF to go into government it takes M Martin to put the country(or vice versa) ahead of the party and you can have 50s on that. The polls say you're right but most people will vote for the candidates, not the partys.

Sinn Fein can't get over 30, even with a record vote, I think they'd only 40 candidates at the last election. If FF could get 50 (40max would be massive for them imo) this could be an alternative.

If the numbers say it can only be FF/FG it'll be a hung Dail and we go again.

the thing about pr is that sf will be killed(fraudian slip?!?) because of it.they would need a huge first preference vote to get 30 seats.id say if they get 22 it will be a good day for them.transfers are a huge problem for them.not many people will vote ff fg or lab and give them number 2s 3s 4s etc.  id still fancy fg/lab. a few points of an upward swing and they will get back in.im sure they have a few goodies and feel good announcements in the next few weeks to swing it..though i will agree 9/4 is stingy.
