That photograph, you know the one,the one that made lots of sane people change their mind.

The story that surrounded this photograph was choreographed.

A desperate man fleeing war was forced to take a perilous sea journey with his wife and two kids, the boat sank and this poor man held on to his family but tragically one by one they slipped away.

This narrative caused Cameron to change his mind, caused Kenny to change his mind both started their craven capitulation with " as a father " followed by other emotional statements showing their feelings.

However it was quickly established he was living and working in Turkey,he wasn't a refugee at all.
That his wife was terrified of water ( her opinions didnt count ) and that he was a strong swimmer.

Its now been established that he was the smuggler,he was piloting the boat.
When it hit the wave he panicked and being the strong swimmer he just swam to shore.

The point he is making and i agree with it is that they where not fleeing a war, they where not refugees, they where fleeing Turkey as they didn't want to be there despite it being safe, despite they where getting money sent to them from a relative in Canada etc.........

It was absolutely horrific what happened to them kids and the mother and for me the blame lies solely with the father, it was he who put his family in danger by paying $3,000 to put them on this dingy and try and get them to Kos, they where in no danger at all in Turkey.

Am I getting through.

Ye have no trouble reading article after article all presenting the same opinion,no problem with programme after programme on TV promoting the Liberal agenda on this.

All I'm doing is a tiny attempt at rebalancing
Something for the younger forumites to remember when my warnings come true.

i read what the Dutch politician Wilders had to say on the crisis the other day, one the few pols. with the courage to challenge the mawkish sentimentality consensus on this. he rightly fears further Islamification of Holland.

The great irony here for me is that the 'mawkish sentimentality consensus' is firmly with the Anti Imigrant, Anti-Refugee Anti-Islam camp.  Walk into any backstreet boozer and everyone will tell you 'to send the c nuts home.

If anyone is rebalancing opinion it is the few media outlets, generally staffed by more affluent better educated people, who do not feel directly threatened by those arriving.  I would say most media outlets in the UK, espcecially those in print, are now telling their working class readers what they want to hear on these issues.

Perhaps Borneo's time would be better spend writing Letters to The Editors of the Irish Papers.  Also it is possible to comment online at the bottom of most articles.  Re-balance at what you see as the point of imbalance, rather than on here.

As for Borneo's so-called 'rebalancing' efforts on here, this forum is an online living, breathing back street boozer, he is by and large preaching to the converted.  With time, with the younger generation coming though we might turn it into a nice little Wine Bar BrasserieLove, but for now, the grumpy old men who spend their days propping up the bar, predominate.  The Liberal ELite are out working, paying tax, and realise that no amount of hot air on here changes anything.

I try not to comment on these type of threads as a rule...partly because i don't believe they have place on an Irish sports

forum.... but Wildman is quite right in taking a cynical view on the manipulative way this child's death has been portrayed.

Why are people surprised. Irish media is infested with trinity students union types or champagne socialists who never have to deal with the side effects of mass immigration.

Proper journalism doesn't exist anymore in the Irish media. It's professional trolling now a days with extreme views given on both sides of arguments (that's presuming both sides of an arguement are given which is rare). The opinion pieces are a disgrace, badly written and disgustingly impartial. Their websites are designed as click bait just to get advertising revenue.

The EU are useless and incapable of making proper decisions for the good of its people. The accession to the EU of Romania and Bulgaria should have shown this. Ireland is desperate for a UKIP equivalent, tragically the media won't allow it.

A year ago this very day.

The photograph is back but this time with the father who caused the death lecturing us.

The gentleman dishing out the lecture was the pilot of the boat that sank,he being a strong swimmer abandoned his family and calmly swam to shore.
He then lied through his teeth, the same teeth that caused the problem in the first place.
His reasons for leaving his job and heading to Europe was to avail of free dental treatment in Europe.

How do you know he calmly swam to shore -to me that comes under the heading lies and distortion -an attempt to dehumanise the man.
For the record I am against immigration in significant numbers.

Its a fair criticism.

I suppose I was trying to contrast his narrative where he claimed he held onto them one by one but they slipped into the sea.
It later turned out he was piloting the boat and he was a stong swimmer.
He did swim to shore but its probably unlikely he did it calmly.
