I've gone for 3 selections in the Barclays:

Jordan Spieth 11/2
Phenomenal player who looks like winning nearly every time he goes on the course. Can often start slowly which makes life difficult in these birdie fests but if he breaks well, he'll surely go close.

Brandt Snedeker 40/1
Excellent record @ these Donald Ross designed courses. Needs to be forgiven for last week's effort as form was good before that.

Nick Watney 125/1
Nice sighter @ Wyndham last week and seems to reserve best form for the fed-ex cup play-offs highlighted by win in this event couple of years ago and T10 here in 2011.

Best of luck.

This weeks picks.

Czech Masters - Snap from last week.

Saw enough to suggest I was on the right track last week. Lipsky especially looks primed for a good finish.

David Lipsky 50/1 Stanjames 2pt EW
Kevin Phelan 80/1 Stanjames 1.2pt EW

The Barclays - Playoffs

Course will not play like 2011 and I am looking towards recent form for my selections.

Off the top of the betting Justin Rose stands out. Plays these technical courses very well but @ 12/1 he is passed over.

Settled on 2 players coming coming to the boil.

Charl Schwartzel 60/1 Bet365 4pts EW - We have seen his form turnaround since the US Open. Following him on shottracker last week he played very solid. Driving it well, GIR stats excellent, scrambling always is top notch...only putting let him down. Had a negative in his strokes gained putting but only need a small percentage shift and he would have won last week. Need to move into Top 70 to qualify for next week. Incentive is there.

Matt Kuchar 34/1 EW 6 places Betbright 2.8pts EW - Another on his way back to form. Canadian Open, WGC and PGA Champ were all good performances. He is trending in the  right direction and unlike Charl,  Kuchar is a very consistent putter. 2nd here in 2011 has played well here in the past. I've said I am more concerned with recent form but course form is not a negative either.

Small win only bets on exchange; Will Wilcox 180, Ian Poultar 240, Paul Casey 50, Henrik Stenson 32

Peter Uilein 40/1 e/w,

Also done very small e/w permed doubles aswell,

Also backed David Lingmerth first round leader in America e/w 60/1,

Great to see the big names out again this week, really think there isn't much between Speith/Rose and Day except a bad/lucky break, the 3 are playing very well,as Newsapproach says Spieth is up there week in week out and just looks so solid each time.
Paddy Harrington has two 2nds and a win at the Barclays and at 450ish exch just a token on him.
Czech is dire but glad to see a couple mentioned above in Phelan and Uihleim, also added Eddie Pepperell as he has been playing well.

ew dbs for starters;

Spieth 11/2 with Pepperill 18/1,Uihleim 40/1,Phelan 66/1.

Best of luck to ye.

Only one bet this week and for no particular reason really. Adam Scott has not been playing well but at 40/1 i think i'll throw a few quid on him this week. Has won here before.

Adam Scott 40/1

The first week of the 4 where the rich get richer and someone gets very rich indeed.

Over the past few years, players who have found form in the Playoffs usually hold it right through til the Finale. Not worth much this week, but worth bearing in mind.

Jordan Spieth is justifiably favourite this week, and though he is someone who tries and expects to win every week he tees it up, he is also well aware that he will just have to win the Tour Championship to lift the loot. I sense he may gear towards that, and may not have returned to a peak after the PGA just yet.

Someone who will be very keen to get a Win on the board after a series of top class performances but no W to show is Justin Rose. His long game is in absolute tip top condition. He mentioned making a slight tweak to his swing during the Bridgesone, which has given him even extra length off the tee to go with his unerring accuracy. That new technique did stumble somewhat under pressure that Sunday, but was much more assured in the heat of battle the following week. With ten days to have perfected it, and put in some work on the putting green, all looks in place for Rose to gain the win his play of recent weeks has promised.

6th here in 2011, the course promises to suit his game even better this year. It will be much firmer and faster, and that allied with the more penal rough will place more of a premium on accuracy. If he putts even halfway decent, Rose should bloom in such circumstances.

David Lingmerth has been playing some superb golf of late. As always, these runs of consistency will end sometime, but until that happens I am most certainly going to keep him on side. Especially as the market continues to ignore him. I got a few quid matched at 140 early on Monday. Crazy price. The bookies never went above 66s, but him being 140 doesn't make the 66s a bad price. Its not. He is a player going places, and the tougher it plays this week, the better. And all indications are it will be low teens winning score. The type of winning score that usually sees Lingmerth rank pretty highly come Sunday evening.

I have never really been a big Ricky Fowler fan. I have come around to him more this year, his win at Sawgrass was simply superb, one of the highlights of the year. I may not have included him this week, but his opening show of 33-1 was just fundamentally wrong and had to be taken. He had a disappointing PGA, but his starting price there of 22-1 says it all about the form he was in prior to that.

Once they finished the final round last Sunday, I put Jonas Blixt on the team sheet for this week. He felt the pressure coming down the stretch in the Wyndham, no doubt about that, and it may have cost him the win. His immediate career was on the line, and given how good shape his game was in last week, and how much freer he may feel this week, its quite possible he will get that win he left behind him last Sunday. Very unlucky with several putts early in the round, he then got a very unlucky bounce out of bounds on the par 5 15th. That ended his challenge, but he had the mental strength to hole 12ft bogey putt there. That putt keeps him in full time employment on the PGA Tour. He can go close this week.

Matt Kuchar was second here in 2011, and after an untypically quiet spell, his game is certainly heading in the right direction the last 6 weeks. When he finds a bit of consistency he usually reels off top ten after top ten. A good week on the greens may turn this week into something better. Looks sure to contend.

Danny Lee just missed out, so is probably a certainty!!

2pts Justin Rose @ 15.5/2pts Place Rose @ 4
1pt e.w Ricky Fowler 33-1
1pt e.w Matt Kuchar 30-1 (6 places)
.5pt e.w David Lingmerth 66-1 (6 places), .2pt Win @ 140
.3pt e.w Jonas Blixt 150-1

Best of Luck all.

Kids back to school next week, so will have more time on my hands....will update P&L. Im sure it seems like I'm skirting it as its in the negative.

One 3 ball bet which leaps off the page is Matt Kuchar at 5-4 to beat Scott Piercy and Chris Kirk.

As said above, Kuchar looks to be striking form. Consistency is his middle name when he finds his A game, and that is a valuable asset to have in a 3 ball candidate. He obviously likes the venue, and has no real negative.

His opponents on the other hand do, to varying degrees.

Firstly, Kirk returns after a 9 week absence caused by a hand injury. It was only 3 weeks ago that he tweeted the his hand was healing, but he was still a few weeks away from hitting balls. Its a massive ask for him to be competition ready by tomorrow.

Piercy won the Barbasol when the games elite where in St Andrews. There was a reason he wasn't at the home of golf. He wasn't playing well enough. He missed the weekend on 5 of his 8 previous starts, and hasn't dome much since. He has always been at his best on wet birdie fest layouts, where you can bomb a drive and throw a dart. This week is promised dry, certainly tomorrow. I doubt he will be contending.

3 balls obviously aren't an exact science, any player can beat any two others on any given day. But given these set of circumstances, on this course, I would expect Kuchar to emerge on top in at least 6, if not 7 out of ten times against his two opponents. That makes 5-4 a cracking bet in my mind.

6pts Kuchar 2 ball 5-4

Thanks be to Jaysus that Woods is not there. We won't have to watch him playing to the exclusion of those in contention.
Report callitasucit August 27, 2015 11:14 AM BST
Charl Schwartzel also looks a good bet at 6-4 in his 3 ball.

3pts Schwartzel 6-4.

Small Trixie done with Kuchar, Charl and Donald.

Well DP, how are ya!

Think Jason Day is a good bet at 2.82 tonight. Bubba hit and miss under the cosh, cant fancy Moon Bae or Palmer. Stenson wont hole enough important putts. Leaves Zach.

Think Zach will beat Henrik on the greens and as such I believe he will master him in the 2 ball. Laid Stenson at 2.06.

5pts Jason Day 2.82
4pts Lay Henrik Stenson @ 2.06 in 2 ball (potential liability 4.24pts)
