Unusually for a Footstepsinthesand this gelding acts on heavy ground,is a front runner and drawn 2,he has won over 10 furlongs and a mile, think he won't be headed.
Plenty of the sires best progeny have performed well on soft ground.
Good luck with this one but I don't know how people entertain such races with the racing coming for the rest of the week.

Versalia Gal is the only other one to act on that ground that springs to mind.
Cash Or Casuality missed the break but he is a gutsy sort, fought all the way up the straight only got nutted on the line.

Steinbeck won a group race on soft and Stack's horse that won the Lincoln this year on heavy is by the sire. Arnold Lane and Quick Jack are two more that handle it off the top of my head. I think all three of Footsteps races were with give also. He has been a solid sire all in all.
He ran very well and couldn't have done much more is right.

I laid it Dan, and i consider myself extremely lucky not to be paying out. You are right , if it had broke well , they wouldnt have caught it. It actually tried to charge the lids and just mistimed it, a bit like greyhounds do sometimes. Out of interest tell the king, what racing during the week should we be keeping our powder dry for ?

Cracking racing in York this week Mincer with some nice other English cards over the weekend. The Killarney entries are looking strong and there’s two good cards in the Curragh at the weekend.
The way I look at racing is that tonights card in the lowest of the low. There is hardly a horse running tonight where a bad run from them would surprise. That won’t be the case at several other meetings this week. Solidity is the first thing I look for when lining one up and it’s in short enough supply in sligo. If you can make it pay in the long run getting involved in those dirt cards your a better man than me.

You make some good points there in fairness, and yes youd have to say that solidity is very sparse at Sligo this evening. Most certainly you would have to tread with caution tonight, but its a case of each to their own. I gave up on the English flat years ago, couldnt follow it as theres too much of it, and then the stories about how crookked it is, which are undoubtedly true. Not much of a Killarney fan either, particularly on the flat.

Just going through the results for the jumping races and the form horses did indeed seem to run their races. This isn’t unusual I suppose in that complete tramps of horses tend not to win over obstacles. On the level is a different story though, the low level stuff is full of horses that would rather lie down than run forward.
I’d agree to an extent on Killarney, especially on the Flat. When the ground is at either extreme it’s a bit of a lottery. It should be fine for this meeting though.
Good competitive English racing is probably the best punting medium in these isles, markets not as tight as here. The lower tier is basically flapping on screen though.

Maybe trainer should have spoken to clerk of course Lorcan Wyer before racing who suggested to Mick Halford that there was a 'better strip of ground up the stand rails'.
