Had a go at a 5 selection multiple yesterday. Thought it be bit of interest to start a thread where others who may have done same can add.

Kilkenny Senior Hurling 2-5
Kerry Senior Football 6-4
Vautour King George 3-1
Man City Premiership 13-10
Judd Trump World Snooker 6-1

200 accum. Pays 45k.

Have Kilkenny, Kerry, and to a lesser extent City backed in doubles, treble already, and there may not be a huge amount of mileage left in their current prices, but I do expect all to win.

Always slightly biased towards the Cats, as my father is a Kilkenny man, but as Kelly says KK have been and done it so often, its hard to see where Galway are going to find the necessary improvement to topple them. Especially on the toughest stage of all. Tipp found out last year just how hard they are to beat in a final.

I have long been a fan of the current Dublin team, which as a Kildare man, is quite hard to admit!! But when the draw was made prior to the QF, it was clear Kerry were going to have the easier run to Sam. The irony in saying that is, that I feel Dublins hitherto soft passage will now count against them. I think the game with Mayo could go either way. Its a big step from beating poor Div 3 teams, to taking on serious contenders. I do hope Dublin come through, as I feel the final could be an absolute cracker.

Kerry have improved with each game so far, and though Kildare were truly awful against them, it was a display of sheer class and power that the Kingdom put up. If JOD is back for the final, I think they will edge the Dubs......if they get past Mayo.

Mayo obviously wont win the finalWink

I am not a huge fan of any Premiership team, but the current City squad are a level above anything else in it. If they can be kept happy, content and hungry, they will win it by a landslide.

Vautour is a machine!! Ruby is of the opinion he is a better horse than Kauto. That says it all really. All roads lead to the KG, prob take in Clonmel first. Coneygree had a huge season last year for a novice, but better GC winners than him have bounced the following year.

In any case, I don't see him having the speed to get near Vautour around Kempton. Yes he was impressive in the Feltham, but with Saphir du Rheu falling, he beat nought. Sil Conti is hardly improving, and he would need to.

I have always been a huge Ronnie fan, but signs are that the hunger may just not be there, and akin to Tiger when he does find himself in a heat of the battle in a big one.....the bottle might not be what it was.

Trump is a bit of a pup, but showed last year that he was maturing, and all the pieces may now be coming together. I think he will be a strong 4-1 fav by the time April comes around.

Hopefully I don't have to re load next week!!!

Best of luck anyone having a pop at something similar.

No value generally in accas, callit. Stick with the "big single" and be prepared to wait for your opportunity. Just on the hurling, I'd happily lay Kk at 2/5 if given the chance.

Ruby is of the opinion Vautour is better than Kauto?Wow that is some statement.
Report workrider August 18, 2015 6:43 PM BST
I wonder when he said that callit , K.S. was one of the all time greats , Vautor not fit to lace his boots just yet . Hes a horse full of potential but to say he's better than Kauto is madness imo..
Report callitasucit August 18, 2015 8:00 PM BST
Ruby is of the opinion Vautour 'will' prove better than Kauto. 'Is' is obviously wrong.

I done a double take myself Chelt.

Kauto is indeed an all time great WR. He needs to do plenty to be mentioned in the same breath. Ruby is obviously very confident he has what it takes if he can be kept right.

Reb, its not a serious wager, more something for a bit of fun, that could turn into more than that. If I wasn't to do it, and the first 3 came in, I be kicking myself!! Having been told by Ruby the intended targets for the 'Big 3' for Chelt last March in Galway of last year, and being a big fan of all 3 personally, telling all and sundry to do the treble when prices where first publish(9-2, 8s and 10s), and not doing it myself.......this is a pre emptive strike against the same anguishCry. I told a few on here....unfortunately they too missed out.

You will get better than the 2-5 on KK to lift the trophy, but the firm were top price on City and Trump, and the acca paid most there. You wont get much better mind. Its an outright bet, rather than the 70 mins.

I have to say I still watch the recording of the JLT and get goose bumps. It was absolutely unbelievable. I hope he proves as good as they think he might be, racing needs superstars, and in the aftermath of the Kauto and Denman era and with a dearth of opposition to the formidable Faugheen, it would be good if Vautour could light up the racing world.
Report workrider August 18, 2015 10:38 PM BST
I'd have my doubts about him staying the K.G distance even at Kempton Callit , he's such a speed horse , a nice little fun bet and I wish you well with it .
Report neill d August 19, 2015 12:10 AM BST
Kauto Star was the quickest stayer of all time surely and stayed extremely well too, he used to get racing miles out in the KG where Ruby would simply take the field apart 4 out and nobody could go with him. I'd be surprised if a horse as classy as Vautour didn't stay 3 miles. Mullins always preferred Vautour to Faugheen as he was professional, versatile and a horse "you could do anything with." Trainer has no doubts about stamina I'd say.

Neil d    After Arkle  Flyingbolt was the best n/hunt horse ever, Youtube and Wiki have plenty of Evidence of this,..No horse today would be allowed to try and repeat what this great grey achieved,.Kauto Star was indeed a special horse and left some great Memories, and some sad ones in the end.

Kempton is a track which seems to allow suspect stayers more chance of getting home.

Edredon Bleu took a KG, and Azertyuiop who was a pure 2mile speed ball threatened to take one too.

Class horses like Kauto, Kicking King, Azertyuiop, Edredon Bleu seem to be able to blow most of the field away from some way out around Kemptons 3 miles. Whether some really stayed or not, they had blown a hole in the opposition, who were then not around to pick up any potential pieces. Class usually outs in the Christmas highlight, and hopefully will again in December.

One reservation I would have about Vautour re Kempton, is his Wow Factor performances have come left handed. He has twice been un impressive at Punchestown. This is a very small sample size though, and not something to be unduly worried about until he proves otherwise.

slick has all the answers.we never hear them tho!!  best of luck callit
Report slickster August 19, 2015 2:47 PM BST
Okay. The wager is a deuce 5-fold accum. Brave or stupid?
By the law of averages, 2 or 3 will win. You would have to say Kilkenny should win.
Man City, dare I say it, already look home and hosed. Different gravy this year.
Then it gets tricky. Kerry? Not this year for me, but would hardly be a surprise if they triumphed.
Vautour. King George. A spectacular animal, no doubt. But taking 3's ante-post about an event over 4 months away is total and utter lunacy, unless you have a crystal ball. You have no idea of ground, stable form or even if he runs!!!
Judd. World Snooker. No doubting his immense talent, but will need to mature mentally by 10-15% before he wins a World.

Having said all that, the very best of luck to you. Let's hope you at least get a run.
Report callitasucit August 19, 2015 3:27 PM BST
Cheers Slick.

As said, its not a serious wager, or something someone should be doing every day. Its a bet consisting of selections I all fancy over a variety of sports over the coming months. If they all click, I would like to be compensated!!

I doubt Vautour will start above 5-4 btw.
Report kavvie August 19, 2015 4:54 PM BST
id imagine callit the vautour part of it is the dodgiest(tho ur getting 3s for the risk)  at least all the other are certain runners.
Report tony57 August 19, 2015 7:29 PM BST
good luck callit..not my type of bet, probably why I never win big? lol
Report callitasucit August 19, 2015 10:42 PM BST
Well Trump is 6s, so I would imagine he is riskier than  the 3-1 shot. Obviously I suppose I am bound to get a run for my money out of Judd, whereas Vautour could flop before the KG and not go. Though there is no scope for Trump to start as Vautour may end up being.

I done the other 4 without Trump aswell, coz they are all certs.....HaLaugh

Joking aside, its a bit of a buzz having a stab at one long term. I intend on doing one around this time every year, but usually forget. I did click a nice treble about 10/11 years ago. Azertyuiop for the Arkle at 7-1, Moscow Flyer for CC at 4-1, and Best Mate for the GC at 4-1.

They went off about evens, and  two 13-8s or thereabouts, and all won. Its was a great thrill, even during the year, as they plotted their paths to glory.

I thought Best Mate was an absolute steering job for his second GC, and still thought he a big price on the day. My brother kept at me to lay off, as it was quite a bit of money at the time. I really didn't want to, but he had a valid argument, so I used his Betfair account to lay off a chunk on Best Mate at 2.8. It didn't sit right with me though, and in the minutes before the race, he was paying 2.9 on the Tote....I couldn't resist putting what cash I had on me on him. He told me I was a right fu**in idiot win or lose!!

The rest as they say....

Nice story callit ,have done a £5 yankee on the footie , Chelsea, Burnley , Wigan ,Leyton . Pays around 32,000 if they all win , not loking good at the minute though..

callit, just because a bet wins does not mean it was a good bet. Similarly, just because a bet loses does not mean it was a bad bet. Your brother gave you good advice but I think you know that already.

I am a Galway backer.

Unlike 2012 they look like they have prepared for August / September this time around and are peaking at the right time rather than being at concert pitch in July.

They were very impressive last weekend and easily the better side. Despite sucker punch after sucker punch, they shook it off and came at Tipp again.

It is a big turnaround to sort out from the Leinster final, but this still looks a Kilkenny side that is a long way from their best  over the past number of years and any side that finds a place for Walter Walsh deserves a token bet against them.

I have taken the 2/1 to lift trophy on Galway and will take the handicap on them from the norm down to -2 or -3 on the day.

No doubt callit will be sitting pretty with the first leg up while I am ringing Attheraces for the old Ocean Finance or Purple Loans numbers!

Absolutely Reb.

That would be a lesson a lot could learn. Backing one at patently the wrong price, yet thinking you were right just coz it won. Over time, that's the poor house.

Hopefully its as good a game as the semi DV.

Its a small step, but they cant all win if the first one gets beat.

With Liam McCarthy safely on his way home, I hope Sam follows suit.

An interesting enough bet Callit now but for the life of me couldn't put the most difficult part as the last leg in such a bet.

Would you not prefer to have nearly 6k going on one of Willies hot pots for Cheltenham next year?

Ronnie has looked disinterested recently but I am surprised you have stuck Trump in as your last leg (hopefully), is he not a bit of a bridle ponce rather than the winning mentality you admire ie Kilkenny,Spieth,Tiger,WPM.

Best of luck anyway and you can always do some gardening if it cam to it (ROS could be a NR)
Report callitasucit September 6, 2015 9:44 PM BST
Think Trump will have a big year dj, and be quite a bit shorter come tournament time.

Also, as you say he is a bridle ponce, and after two strolls through to the QFs, he will have convinced most that this is the year and have become very over bet.

I would expect City to have the premiership very much done and dusted by then, and lay off a bit on Trump pre tournie, and more before QFS.

As stated above, I done the other 4 in an acca aswell, so hopefully Kerry get the job done as I am particularly sweet on Vautour for his Stephens Day assignment.

If I was to back one of Willies for Chelt at this stage it would be Long Dog for the Albert Bartlett.
