He has actually put on weight by the looks of it the last two months. Was on Second Captains a few months back, and he had lost a lot. Is certainly heavier now. It didn't bother him today. Super fit athletes like Day and Garcia are falling down around him....keep supping Shane!!

Brilliant win for Shane  , didn't see the last 2 days . Strangely enough for the first time before the WGC started I read some stuff about his reaction re his younger brothers win in the Mullingar Scratch cup , which has been  a huge event in Irish amateur golf for a long time . Shane was 200 before the start , and 220 after the first round . He wont be those sort of prices for a long time .

Followed him around a bit at the Irish Open , TV must add quite a few pounds , he was not carrying nearly as much weight as the pictures indicate . Strange though that he is now taking a 6 week break from golf after missing the cut in the USPGA .  Beards OK with me , he just looks like a sailor playing golf .

WINNER OF THE 2019 ABU DHABI HSBC CHAMPIONSHIP.....sounds offaly nice Devil

'Delira and Excira', as SHANE LOWRY becomes the first player in European Tour history to make 11 birdie twos in a tournament and just the third Irishman to win wire-to-wire on Tour in the last 16 years.

President of Ireland - “My congratulations to Shane Lowry on winning the Abu Dhabi Championship in Dubai - a great feat of sportsmanship of which not only everyone in the Midlands but those all over Ireland will be very proud.”

WHAT THE 148th OPEN WINNER GETS.....

• The Claret Jug (‘Golf Champion Trophy’) custody for a year. Though winners must hand back the permanent Claret Jug, they do receive a full-size replica to keep and can order up to three smaller replicas. There is a typo on the jug. The engraver who put in the 1947 entry for Fred Daly mistakenly wrote Hoylake as ‘Holylake’.
• A Golf Medal (as Champion Golfer of the Year 2019).
• €1,725,000 Million Euro ($1,935,000).
• OPEN Championship exemption until age 60. God willing, he plays it 27 more times in front of his daughter Iris.
• 10 Year Exempt Status on European Tour.
• 5 Year Exempt Status on PGA.
• 5 Year Exemptions to The Masters, US Open, PGA & Players Championships.
• Ryder Cup call from Paddy Harrington
• Honorary Member of the Golfing Union of Ireland.
• Free drinks anywhere on Irish soil.
• Mortgage paid by Bank of Ireland sponsor.
• Global Mobility Tax Solutions sorted by Immedis Sponsor
• Gold card from Copper Face Jacks.
• Bulmers Cider on tap at home in Clara.
• Ireland’s 2020 Eurovision Entry singing The Fields of Athenry.
• Offaly Man of the Year award, including bonus prize of a lorry of turf.
• 'Bog of Allen' to be re-named in his honour, to ‘Lowry’s Bog’.
• BBC Sports Personality of the Year can wait with apologies to Ireland’s Eoin Morgan
• “Legend” Status for life in the Emerald Isle. (and in the golfing world).
