Didn't know the man personally but apparently he was a very nice and decent guy,
a thorough gentleman. He was a racing journalist for years and did a good bit of work for the injured jockeys fund. Singlehandedly raised over 130,000 for them in one year.
Was talking to a friend of mine who attended his funeral last weekend ,I said to him that there had to have been a good turn out of jockeys at it . He said there was "zero".
Lovely bunch of people, the wild man is right . It really is a good cause.

He used to write a column in the Irish Daily Star and tip bundles of winners on it (retired some time back from it), sad news to hear of his death and even worse news to hear that none of the munchkins bothered to turn up, considering all he did for them...
The next time I will donate to the injured jockeys fund is if I'm allowed urinate into one of their mouths. That would be worth a fiver of anyone's money.

The jockeys are in a no win situation over pally with journalists makes their bosses suspicious,they now have to beware of these inside information rules.

Poor enough, even aside from his work for the IJF (which I wasn't aware of) he was very prominent in Irish Racing. Was often interviewed on RTE back in the time they had a few more days. I remember him being mad strong on Mastercraftsman in the Irish 2000, basically saying the opposition had no chance. RIP.

Walter thats rich coming from you, a clown who wants to write about issues concerning immigrants, gay marriage and other sewage that you write about on an IRISH SPORTS FORUM, go write a letter to the Irish Times or Irish Independant to air your views about things that get on your goat, most of what you write has nothing to do what so ever with sports of any description, as i have already stated on here you are a fantasist craving attention
