He has to be commended for his ingenuity, endeavour and ability to evolve.

He is certainly not afraid to break the mould and has amassed a massive €750,000 from 250 runs over the last 90 days.

Whether it be Estihaal winning a flat handicap at York, multiple successful trips to Perth, running up sequences in handicap hurdles with young flat bred horses or identifying the find of the season in Jack Kennedy.

It's as if there is a snobbery involved with other leading Irish trainers in terms of trips to lesser grade UK meetings or indeed summer jump cards at home. Yes many of them would have to change their stock to act on Summer ground but there are also many under-utilised potential dual purpose horses. Many of these establishment trainers will moan about WPM's dominance at the winter festivals but Elliot is showing them up massively.

Where is big Noel?

He has had a dozen runners since the start of June and won one handicap. Less than 30k in prize money for the former flat trainer. Lazyness/incompetence

There are other leading trainers who have barely had any live runners since Punchestown. One of them will have a decent Galway as he has being hiding them under bushes but is he content with forever being completely dependent on being a stroke trainer, he has effectively being banned from the Uk festivals.

Gordon Elliot is no angel and plays the handicapping system as well as any of them but kudos for innovation and an ability to maximise the opportunities available.

Has become a great trainer, learned plenty from his time in Somerset.

Look at how much these horses cost,he is picking them up for half nothing.

He used to have a few dodgy owners but they seem to have been replaced.

ironic that Estihaal failed to deliver the time is was punted off the boards and is rated 30lb better now. A rare miss for them, but agreed a fantastic trainer and placer of horses.

The above from Tony Keenan highlights what an extraordinary trainer he is.

His second in command is a shrewd lad. Smashing outfit. He got a right good grounding with Harvey.

Great trainer though plays the numbers game well - once saw him buy a horse that was quite badly lame at the sales for circa 3,500, horse won a novice handicap eventually but last ran in a claimer on the flat.

That sounds dubious as opposed to great training, Princesse d'Anjou.

Sorry that was my point Oceanfinance - he buys plenty of horses and gets wins out of most of them but it doesn't always work out with them running up 3 or 4 on the spin flat and jumps.

I see, agree entirely.
