He looks yet another Elliot improver, after 3 runs to get handicapped on soft ground over 2 miles. He was a real eyecather on his handicap debut behind stable mate Cape Glory at Roscommon over 2 mile 4f, he subsequently routed that opponent and 15 others in a decent 25k handicap at Gowran (3 miles). He carries a 7lbs penalty here over an intermediate trip but in a distinctly average looking 6k handicap. He looks a real genuine sort who should suit Dickie's style and can see him outstaying this lot.
19.00 Curragh - Eshtiaal - 5/2 - 3.7 points win
This 5yo Dynaformer gelding was decent on the flat when "trained" by Brian Meehan and we all know about his exploits over hurdles this Summer, you can be sure Elliot has him primed to land a decent pot here. It's difficult to quantify how much Jack Kennedy (4) is worth in the context of this race but it's significant particularly in relation to his chief market rival
Formerly trained by the retiring Noel Quinlan, I don't think anyone missed his eyecatching run on 1000 Guineas day over C+D, Lordan (8-9) retains the ride and is of just a 3lbs higher mark. Supreme Medici is a notable runner for WPM with Pat Smullen taking the ride.
On a side note Brian Cooper is still riding deplorably, completely outridden in finishes by Brian Hayes and Jack Kennedy in tight finishes in the last week, considering how Davy Russell has performed since Cooper got the gig, it looks a poor decision. Cooper's confidence is shot to pieces and it shows even in this Division 3 Summer league stuff.
