His horses continue to run like drains and they have been for ages. Now Oxx surely hasnt turned into a bad trainer overnight, he has won races that not many could ever even dream of, but his star has fallen dramatically and there looks no sign of it continuing to do so.
He has obviously lost the Aga Khan horses which is a huge blow, but even so the fall from grace is to say the least seismic. The first thing he needs to do is rid himself of McDonagh because therein lies part of the problem, a jockey who will never ever win any race hes not more than entitled to,and is invariably incorrectly positioned during his races. He also looks ungainly and as for whoever gave him the title of the enforcer must surely be having a laugh. He should use the best available because if he rides them himself, he wouldnt be much worse.
Hopefully Oxx does turn it around because in a game full of bluffers, conmen and absolute vermin, he is a complete exception, he seems like a genuine gentleman.

You would have thought after the way he handled sea the stars that everyone would have wanted horses with him yet it was the opposite seemingly. It's sad to see but I hope it turns around for him.

Great trainser, there are parts of his CV weld would give his eye teeth for, and will never get, anis profile now. Weld is a hell of a trainer.

Agree re he jock, goes without saying almost, but quality is a massive issue now. Not sure he'd have had that filly tonight back in in years gone by, sadly he needs her for his profile now. Ger Lyons doesn't have  maidens this seasonas many middle-distance horses, Colin Keane should be tried on Oxx's is the staying maidens this season.

typos galore, stick colin keane on your staying types and get on the line to Qatar & Al Shaqab. Pity STS wasn't for someone like Godolphin or Qatar, they'd have supported Oxx. Is there the residue of that bug from few seasons ago?

A great trainer no doubt. Trained 2 gr 1 winners on arc day 2009 and hasnt had one since. Sad to see.The problem is not the jock, its a severe strain of a virus which wont seem to go away. Lots of trainers get it, some are flying again after 6 months while some take years to get out of it. Dessie Hughes went through 8-10 years of pure hell back in the 80s/90s when everything ran like goats. It comes and goes without warning.Lots of smaller trainers have been completely wiped out and can't get going again. John Oxx's long-standing reputation in the game will see him bounce back, the sooner the better.

Like you its sad to see Johns yard go downhill. Given the right horse there are few better.

Hard to fault STS campaign.

Nice mention of his other winner on ARC day, remember it well, ALANDI (without looking), one hell of a stayer in particular on soft ground, few would beat that horse over a distance when the mud was flying.

GL to John, I'm sure all will work out for him, as long as hes happy!
