Most horses miss the start because the jockey isnt as awake as he should be, times it incorrectly, or does it designedly.
Kevin Manning is incredibly adept at getting them away, even newcomers. Pat Smullen is even better at it if thats possible, but then you have donkeys like Shane Foley who invariably are slow away,and very often take them back even when they do break on terms.
Pat Smullem and Manning are always in the right places, nine times out of ten Foley is somewhere else.
