Doubtful there will be anywhere near the interest on here for these as there was in Irish Open last week, but The Memorial is a top class event, and one of my favorites.
Not putting Kjeldsen up here pre tournament here last week means I need a good week to get back in profit, and there certainly seem a few good betting opportunities, some at very big odds at Jacks Place.
Jordan Spieth was tempting. He is so damn consistent, it seems like he is going to contend every week. True he is yet to contend around here, but he had an improved showing last year, and its similarities to Augusta suggest it wont be long before he tames it. But during his hot spell, it was a sizzling putter that done most of the damage, and that though still an asset is not quite as hot.
I dont really think this is Dustin Johnsons ideal track. He looked set to win last week, but threw in a needless and costly 8. He holed nothing after that, and his iron and wedge play was very hit and miss. It will need to be a deal better this week to contend.
Justin Rose looks much better value IMO.
A past winner here, he seems to have become more of a big stage player of late. He is appearing on more and more leaderboards in the ones that matter of late, and this is one that will be close to his heart. The last 4 times he has mad the cut here, the worst he has finished is 8th. True he has missed 3 cuts in that period, and on the face of it his form has tapered off since his win in the Zurich.
But he performed well at the matchplay, and Sawgrass and Wenworth are not ideal set ups for the Masters runner up. His accurate approach play will be a huge asset here, and he should go very close.
Jim Furyk is part of the furniture here, and though like Rose he appears to have gone slightly off the boil since the matchplay, his two weeks off will have set him up nicely for an event which he will have had as his main target since his win at the RBC Heritage.
That win meant an awful lot to the veteran, and will give him huge confidence when he is in contention again. Contention will be the least he expects this week. Winner here in 2002, he has been involved on Sunday on quite a few occasions here since. Most notably when only an absolute vintage display form Tiger took him down in 2009. At 28-1, and now bigger on here, he looks worth backing to find his second win here.
Chris Kirk comes here off the back of a win, and if still operating at the level which he has for the past few weeks, then he has to have a serious chance of gaining successive victories. A 74 on Saturday here last year ultimately cost him victory, but that performance showed he has the tools to tame the track, and there is no reason in his current form to believe that he wont give it another right good attempt.
It has been good to see Jason Dufner finally start to show something approaching his best. He still has a way to go to get back to his major winning form, but he ceratinly now seems on the right track. At 66-1 he is just about worthy of inclusion. It may take another few weeks before he hits full throttle, but by then he may be starting at 28-1 for events like this.
In a limited 120 man field, PP paying 6 places is quite generous, and 3 I liked with them at big prices were Bo Van Pelt, Kenny Perry and Jonathon Byrd.
Van Pelt has finished all but top 20 here the last 5 years. True he arrived in better, but sometimes only slightly better, form in those years. But he also started at only a fraction of the price in some of those. In a limited field where plenty of the fancied players have form/course/injury worries, BVP at 200-1 looks well worth an investment.
Kenny Perry has been hugely successful around here in the past. Yes, that is a few years ago now, but he looked in fine nick last week, the putter looked hot, and at 400-1 there is bound to be the odd negative! He probably wont win, but he will plot his way around, and that plotting could certainly see him finish top 20, and hopefully even top 6 if he has a great week with the flat stick. There are worse bets out there.
Jon Byrd has been putting very poorly. What makes him of interest here is the amount of times he is stiffing his approaches the past few months. Yes he has missed plenty of the ensuing 4 footers, but his accurate approach play will be of huge benefit around here. He also has 3 top 7 finishes in his last 5 visits here, so that previous may just inspire a better week on the greens. Again he is 400-1, so there are certainly enough positives there to be backing him.

The Nordea is not quite so appetising.
It was only the presence of Eddie Pepperel and the large chunk of the market taken by Henrik Stenson that encouraged me to have a look.
Pepperell was superb in defeat last week. I have long been a fan, and when he does win one of these, I expect him to win plenty. He didn't look afraid of the winning line on Sunday and at 40-1 on a track he could have won at last year, he looks the best value in this relatively poor field.
Last years winner Thongchai Jaidee is in such good form that it seems very likely that he is going to contend once again. At 20-1, he is worth backing.
Home boy Robert Karlsson may perform best of the Swedes and at 66-1 is better value than most of them. He is having trouble backing up some great opening rounds, but maybe home support can see him put 4 rounds together.

Nordea Masters.
Stenson is a deserved fav. but I can leave him win at 9/2. Kiridech Aphibarnrat is still available @ 66/1 on SB here. Since his win in China he has had a few iffy tournaments. RCD and Mauritious were not going to suit his sometimes wayward driving. He did post a respectable T30 in Wentworth in between. Back on a more open course like PGA National should bring him back in the fold. 33/1 - 40/1 was my thinking so 66/1 looks very generous. Alex Levy is another that caught the eye. Memorial Bill Haas 33/1 2 T10s last couple of years. Harris English 100/1 Lack of course experience is a worry but his game is looking very good atm. Rory Sabbatini 100/1 went close here a couple of years ago and has been playing well last couple of months, dare I say it with a more carefree attitude. GL all. |

Think Jaidee a good bet in Stensons 3 ball tomorrow. Kjeldsen will surely struggle to re produce last weeks effort so quickly, under vastly different cicumstances. And Stenson has been slow to warm up of late, even in the tournaments he has done well in. The 370 on BVP on here is feckin massive. |

Another great week ahead in America,first selection is Dustin Johnson who seem a very fair price at 14/1,dustin been playing some super golf this year,was right in the hunt last week til an 8 killed his challenge,will be very surprised if he's not up challenging come Sunday evening,
Second selection is the great man TIger Woods,how could you not back him e/w 28/1 6 places on a course that he knows like the back of his hand,slightly bigger elsewhere but only paying 5 places,on another note about TIger it was good to see his old caddie Williams saying the rumours about TIger taking performance enhancing drugs is complete rubbish, Now onto the Noren open were I've backed A Noran at 20/1, Selection, D Johnson 14/1 e/w T Woods 28/1e/w Europe A Noren 20/1 e/w, Also done small permed e/w doubles |

Excellent fare this week in the states, on of the best tournaments on tour.
Justin Rose 20/1 Rose looks a fairly obvious pick this week. Excellent form at the course as callit states, already won this year and should be refreshed after a couple weeks of a break. Billy Horschel 50/1 GIR crucial at this course and that will suit Horschel to a tee. Hints of a return to form last couple of weeks. Russell Henley 66/1 Streaky player in decent form last few weeks and suited by course wit a T6 here 2 years ago. Ben Martin 80/1 Another man who excels with irons when on form and could go close if hits top form. Matt Jones 150/1 In good form earlier in the year before a few disappointments but market has over reacted a bit imo. Finished T6 here only a few years ago. GL. |

Wanted to back Tiger myself padlock, but just cant see him making few enough errors to contend this week. Hopefully he does show some sparkle though, and give hope for US Open.

Disappointing finish from Jason Dufner.
Misses 4ft bird on 17 and DB on 18 .Matsuyama was absolutely clinical today. One thing to cling to is he got a bit antsy after shots that were not bad late on, and unusually left a mid range putt short. Grasping at straws as a non backer maybe, but...... |

The golf all ways a good read on the irish forum, I played mr love at 1000 for a fiver [dont laugh] david Lingmerth is worth a bet at 260/1 here, but henrik stenson is a stand out at 30/1 great value, good luck with your bets lads. Frank also 'been a fan' too  |
