Punchestown and getting to the course from Dublin

Like the cuckoo, the corncrake and suchlike and indeed Punchestown races, I’m back here again to warn people regarding the situation as regards bus public transport from Dublin city to Punchestown Races. According to the Punchestown website, Marathon Travel are running a shuttle bus service from Dublin city centre. Look up the Punchestown website, and there’s also a service running from Naas to the racecourse; also I gather services from Sallins train station.
THERE IS NO ‘SPECIAL’ BUS SERVICE RUN BY BUS EIREANN FROM BUSARUS TO PUNCHESTOWN RACES; NONE.
The Racing Post on Tuesday claimed in their edition on Tuesday (p53) on how to get there, this is written under ‘bus’: is the following:  ‘Regular service from Bus Eireann and private bus  services to Naas. Special bus available from Busarus (Dublin Central Bus Station) during festival.’
Now lets look at this: if there is (well there is) a ‘regular bus service’ to Naas you still have to get to the course, two to three miles outside Naas. Who runs this ‘regular bus service’? It has to be in the main Bus Eireann, as a ‘private bus service’ would in breach of the law if they ran a ‘regular’ bus service to Naas from Dublin. Now the next sentence: this is wrong, it’s two to three years now since there was any ‘special’ bus service to Punchestown from Busarus – the paper has years to correct this. There is NO service. The service when Bus Eireann did run it was awful.

I’ve spoken to someone in the Racing Post this afternoon, they say the Punchestown racecourse people should have liased with them about this, the Punchestown racecard comes to them set up and typeset from London.
