The most horrendous NH program I think I have ever seen...held in a track that has zero going for it.... Third world facilities .... I think they said it's going left handed soon.... What they should do is build 500 houses on it.....
Wexford won't bother you wonks.... You will be too busy laying winners at Aintree.... Didn't notice you were laying on the fringe until it was too late ...although in fairness you have given us plenty notice that Don Cossack can't win ...and for that I thank you....

Were you classed as special needs in school or dd that term not exist back then?
All I can say is God Help You. Its a miracle that you have made it through life.

Wexford is a delightful country course, they have made some improvements since I was last there.
It used to have two very tight bends to finish but they extended the course a fair bit.
Its due to run the other way but think the Turf Club are blocking it for now.

One very interesting runner in Wexford today at least.
Cairde Aris was pure stopped at Mallow last time, the only thing that can beat this lad is a repeat performance.

It will be a trier alright, how much was hidden that day is the question and that is like saying how long is a piece of string. Think it would want to have been a bit for the reason of Isabellesprincess last run,the glaring thing with that is One Cool Princess was a bit behind(7Lth).Think she will be dangerous for Cairde backers. A must tune in today all the same.

Cairde Aris started off on the wide outside in last position,he was supposed to be well down the field.
I think 7/2 is the price of the week, surely they will punt the bejaysus out of this fellow, all saw what happened in Mallow.

A trap that many punters fall into with these eyecatchers is overestimating their likely ability. This is going to be a case study for these scenarios.
It shouldn't be forgotten how awful that race the last day was. If Cairde Aris can be laid at 5/2 or so then it's time to load up the pink.

Cairde Aris is the lay of the week. Horse is useless. Was let down after the last and still couldnt win. Mug punters will be getting stuck i but the truth of the matter is these types rarely win after a performance such as in Cork. Even though he has a useless jockey on board Pack The Punch is an infinitely better bet at 9/2-5/1. Running in decent races all season and better ground will help.

Bigwillystyle how can you say the horse is useless, when he was let down after the last he made up some ground.
I would have preferred a more galloping track but still think its a good thing.

Well the best of luck to you Wildman but a horse like him who finished second in a brutal maiden after a long break, probably gave himself a hard enough race(Even though it didnt look like it) on bad ground and is now running on good ground and is a 5/2 shot. Well you would need locking up to back it!!! I will be laying it and place laying aswell.

Surprised you are not at Aintree, Wonks, or did it clash with dole collection day?

Wexford is a beautiful racecourse. Just after five o'clock I noticed the beautiful view, gorse in bloom, the course itself looking like the thirteenth green in Augusta, the centre of the course looked like eight fairway, even those houses I used to object to got a Tudor look to them.
Fine card there as well today some nicely framed races.

WD Borneo,I am sure you recouped some of your losses on Jacobean with a hefty lay at Tipp also.
Now here was a case of extreme early pricing ricks, Cairde Aris was priced up at 11/2,11/2 and 5/1 by the 3 "books" that did overnight prices, surprising given the context of the Mallow run in a weak race.
The "Kid" has always been a streaky trainer and duly landed the double in the Bumper with the Brian Gleeson bred and running in his father's colours pride of the braid.(massive drifter but won nicely). I believe Brian Gleeson still holds the record for a public sale of a NH horse in Ireland.
Kiely at 78/79 years old has a much reduced string of around 14 horses these days. It is perhaps a little ironic that his biggest supporter is now JP considering there fallout over Take Five in 2003. JP didn't have a horse with him for a few yeas after that, it's a credit to JP that Take Five 12 years ago was his last horse to be done for using the racecourse as a training ground.

Mark Walsh got done on Good Company in Thurles about 7 or 8 years ago. It was far worse than Cairde Aris in my book. I think Christy got off by hanging him at the appeal.
Jonjo got done a few times in quick succession in the early 2000's. Top of the Left was definitely one of the horses. I assume he decided to just lock them up in their stables afterwards until it it came for the time to win. Can be the only reason most of their maiden runners don't lie up on the way down to the start.

No harm for the owner, have a bit of sympathy for jockey and trainer,he seemed to ride him a good bit out and am inclined to believe their explanation. I know Thats Nice is very limited,i didn't think he tried an ounce in the bumper though.

Newcomer High Tail It really caught the eye when flying home to take the runner-up spot, with King Willie a further length and three quarters back in third.
The uneasy 8/13 favourite Unic De Bersy was driven along before the straight and could only manage fourth.
The stewards took a dim view of the performance of the runner-up, and took action under Rule 212.
The Milan gelding was suspended for 42 days, rider Mark Bolger was given a seven days ban and ordered to forfeit his riding fee, while trainer Jessica Harrington was fined 1,000 euro.

The stewards are getting like the handicapper, lazy.
High Tail It is just getting an introduction, the usual start out wide and out the back not unlike Cairde Aris in Mallow. Is loafing round the back but as others start to drop back he starts to get closer but not near as close as Cairde Aris did. Andrew MCNamara deliberately brought him wide in the hope One Cool Princess would skip clear, which he did but Cairde Aris without the jockey moving a muscle started to close the gap,he made a half hearted attempt after the last. Cairde Aris was blatant yet nothing.
Mark Bolger asked High Tail It for an effort the response was slow but he did pick up,Bolger persisted and he picked up,he then flew by horses that were stopping,it was eye catching but that horse was not stopped,it ran on its merits.
I think Jessica Harrington and Mark Bolger should appeal as a look at the race in full will get them cleared.

In fairness Mark Bolger deserves a week alone for not being able to hide the horse. He missed the 3rd last and he got after the horse instead of leaving it to the straight at which point the front pack would have been well clear.
Admittedly it sounds contradictory but I have no problem with horses getting handicap / experience spins as long as its not too blatant. However, when the connections make mess of it as happened today they should feel the full force of the rule book.

The last time I was there it was a khazi....and it never will be anything but a soulless kip....rubbish track....rubbish jockeys....rubbish horses....rubbish facilities.....rubbish bookies...now saying all that going left handed hasn't disimproved the place.....but neither would building a couple of hundred houses on it....

I went there today,it was a tough journey down a hell of a lot longer than I thought.
I was probably lucky as the weather was lovely and sunny, The last two fences and last two hurdles are straight in front of the stand and provide spectacular viewing, the winning post is up at what used to be the final bend but for me it worked.
The crowd was surprisingly small to me but there was a great atmosphere. This is a beautiful small country meeting that reminded me of my beloved Fakenham.
Mitch Leary is correct a beautiful restaurant overlooking the parade ring.

The course certainly looks easier on the eye from the TV pictures. I think it's only the second track in the country where you can stand right by a fence (Gowran being the other).
Never been in Wexford but i know it's one of the least favourite haunts for stable staff due to the food provided.

Thought it looked like a hybrid between Bellewstown and Tralee.
Seems like a better track though the easy fix fences make it look like a p2p course. It's still in the bottom five courses in terms of quality racing though and nothing will change that.

It really is a delightful country course. Its not its function to cater for good horses.
Gordon Lord Byron got beaten in a Bellewstown maiden.
At least two Gold Cup winners and a Irish Derby winner won in Tralee.

Roscommon, Ballinrobe and, to a lesser extent, Sligo are nice country courses. I don't get the vibe from others that Wexford is particularly appetising. Certainly not the first course you'd go to without a particular reason.
I liked Tralee and Bellewstown is fine. The comparison was on the layout of the track rather than anything else.

i have to say i admire the people who tend these country courses, there was a nice programme about them on Setanta tv a while back, a great deal of work goes on behind the scenes , they all have there own personal charm about them.

Racing LEFT-HANDED must have done the trick and a STIFF finish to boot.
