A.P. aboard tomorrow , not sure thats a good thing to be honest ,I love this horse and he is a big improver this year ..Sure to give its all and with the Champ in the saddle I'd say they want to be a part of the good vibes and supply him with a winner...

Ma Filleule finished 5L ahead OF Don at cheltenham did the form no favours today W/R,   Sire De GRUGY    around 8/1 will have my money.

You would want your head examined to back this tomorrow. Had a hard race in Cheltenham and the fella riding it is a complete negative. He would get Arkle to jump like a mule. Think Fever will win. Comes here a fresh horse
Report tony57 April 9, 2015 7:02 PM BST
I was there today and it was roasting ..the ground was good and there watering tonight..i think fever needs it soft bws?..I think don Cossack has won on good ground so I,d rather go with him for that reason.
Report workrider April 9, 2015 7:08 PM BST
Willy factored that in , not sure he suit Don , having said that when Don first became a man Davy made him  ,by giving him a few behind the saddle before the last at Fairyhouse ..So maybe A.P. will suit him and get after him and make his mind up for him..
Report slickster April 9, 2015 7:21 PM BST
A lay of Don it is so. Cheers wonks.

Boychild ,  Will you be getting the bus into town or will you be riding your pony in from Finglas ..?
Report TellTheKing April 9, 2015 10:07 PM BST
Workrider there are donkeys going around Blackpool beach that have a better chance of winning that race than Don Cossack. Big fan of the horse but they couldn't have picked a worse rider for him than McCoy if they threw on one of the tangerine scrotes that will be up in the stands.

It's a horrible punting card there tomorrow with holes in most of those at the head of the markets in nearly all races. Roi Des Francs should go close but it's like an auld handicap that race and 6's is only a respectable price.

The soft money for the day is a place lay of Ruben Cotter in the Topham. He'll get taken off his feet and will be tailed off if he manages to get around.
Report paulie wallnuts April 9, 2015 10:11 PM BST
I agree with tell the king.... A horrible punting card ...,.
Report workrider April 9, 2015 10:14 PM BST
TellTheKing , as I have already pointed out in my o.p. A. P. is not a jockey I would like on him , Noel F would have been my choice if available ,he would sit quitely and get him into a good rythem ,giving him confidence , A.P. will be the opposite ...

Not giving a lot away with the price of Persian Delight in the bumper giving the sharp rise in class and the better conditions tomorrow,it was a deeply impressive run at Taunton that day all the same and really could be anything. I agree with ye all a rotten card to punt.
Report tony57 April 9, 2015 11:26 PM BST
its one tough card is right...after getting my fingers burnt with artic fire im behind as it is..
Report callitasucit April 10, 2015 12:55 AM BST
Definitely a tough card tomorrow, lacking a bit if the usual Friday class too. I will take CF and Cue Card against the field.

The Ryanair suggested DC needs further these days, and 2m 4f around there on rattling ground, I could see his jumping going to pot. He had a bloddy hard race at the festival too.

Would hope CF and CC don't cut each others throats. Though I expect Ruby will be happy enough to sit second. Should be a good spectacle.

Saphir Du Rheu had a fair tough race at Chelt too, but he looks a scrapper and should be fine tomorrow. I would have down as unlucky, rather than a poor jumper. If STD can keep his mind on the job, he should take a lot of beating, and will be my biggest bet of the day.

I agree on Persian Delight Pa, he looked a monster that day. May be my only other bet.
Report TellTheKing April 10, 2015 12:57 AM BST
Pa it did look a right horse that day but you would want to be getting at least 6's to be getting involved and probably nearer 8's for it to represent any kind of value price. The Aintree bumper is always an even bigger minefield than the cheltenham version. The bookies aren't giving anything away on the early shows to even half entice someone to have a look.

Workrider Don Cossack doesn't need confidence. He just needs someone who won't interfere with him. There isn't a horse with more scope in training than him.

As alluded to on another thread, Wexford have served up a card full of tripe tomorrow. Some of the runners would be off the bridle getting run down the chute in an abattoir. However, there is one that caught the eye. Bye Bye O Bye showed consistent form last year on good ground in similar races. He ran very well in cork recently on his return, travelling nicely and emptying late on ground far too soft for him. He has a competent claimer on board in a worse race on good ground. The run may be coming a bit soon after Cork given he was off prior to that. However, if he doesn't go close connections would be as well off leaving him in the racecourse stables.

TONY57 have to disagree think CF best form is a sound surface as in BUMPER SUP NOV AND ARKLE at CHELT and as others have said didn't race at the festival so no W.O.A as others may have had.
DANEKING must have a shout in the h'cap on this nearly summer ground, won well at F/H round this time last year and the track here possibly suiting him better than chelt(only my opinion)and relatively fresh after only 4 runs since, probably nothing in hand from the FAIRYHOUSE win but done it well that day and as WPM has improved others,he may this 1 also, but the main thing is the ground drying all the time(all right love cut the grass the mara)and it could make all the difference.
Report Santry April 10, 2015 7:31 AM BST
Don Cossack one of my favourite horses but will leave him alone today for 3 reasons.
1.I could not pick a worse jockey for this horse than McCoy.
2.I think hes a better horse right handed.
3.On the quicker ground my need a longer trip.

If Paul Carberry had ridden Ned Buntline yesterday I have little doubt he would have won.
Report pa lapsy April 10, 2015 9:42 AM BST
Think we might have mentioned Persian Delight on a thread the day he won Callit,he left us a bit gobsmacked, you aren't wrong regarding his price Telltheking,i,m still tempted though.
A bad card indeed at Wexford,Cairde Aris is by far the most standout horse to me running there for it,s Mallow effort last time, certainly will be trying this evening though will only be a watch as it,s a competitive enough race.

I stand corrected decalec...your right..but I still fancy cossack
Report callitasucit April 10, 2015 10:48 AM BST
I don't agree with that left handed worry about DC Santry.

His best run last year was at Aintree, and if he hadn't of made two race changing blunders at Chelt, he would prob have won there too. Which would have been, and still nearly was a career best. Options in Ireland for 2m4f chasers are very limited left handed.

That said, I too think his jumping may suffer again today, with a fast pace assured. The King George looks an ideal target for him. He would have every chance of beating the rest bar the Freak.
Report snorlax April 10, 2015 12:48 PM BST
Disagree with the Mc Coy being a negative for DC because he'll get too involved with the horse assumption. One thing i've noticed about Don in his last few runs is that when left to his own devices is when he's awkward or makes mistakes but when he's asked for a big one he usually sails over, Mc Coy will do exactly that ask him up everytime and take lengths out of the field,i expect him to front run and embarass the rest of the field,i've had a proper punt by my standards on this boy win and place Cool

Have bit the bullet and backed him myself , amazingly have backed 3 of Giggis today ....
Don Cossack ...
Rathlin ...Always thought this lad would end up jumping those Aintree fences....
Alpha De ..A horse I loved the moment I saw him at Punchestown
Jurby....Unusual for one of Trevors to win fto , so must be something ....
A little £1 yankee and a few win bets to see me through the day ...
Good luck all punters...

Very good performance there from a horse who has really bloomed this year. Had the race sown up a fair way out and AP was able to enjoy it up the straight.

Interesting to see where he lines up next year with the owners also having Don Poli.

Kudos Workrider.

Saw a McCoy comment him being 'better with the bit higher in his mouth.' Wonder if it might explain a bit along with the obvious physical development. That rare thing, Grade 1 horse that improved for the roughhousing of McCoy!

Thanks Neill , as I said , Davy made this fella that day in the Drinmore  , a few slaps behind the saddle and he left Carlingford for dead ..Iknew then he was a proper horse , physically he has filled his frame ,when I first saw him this year he had the look of a horse that had matured over time ,and this year he has been a revalation ...Much more to come from this lad ...Great thing about him is , he has the speed for  2.4 . but can stay 3m..

" you would want your head examined to back Don Cossack "

" there are donkeys going round Blackpool beach with a better chance of winning that race than Don Cossack "

So Workrider having examined his head and checked there was no runners from Blackpool went with what he saw and backed Don Cossack,I'm delighted.
Now some of the naysayers might see the value of paddock inspection.

Poor Slickster gets done again.
His should concentrate on his feud with Peter OHehir because it costs less.

With all due respect Wildman the concerns harboured on this thread centered on the AP booking rather than the horse. Turns out Don was on fire and nothing or nobody could get him beat.
Report wildmanfromborneo April 11, 2015 9:58 AM BST
I deliberately didnt identify the quotes as its more a paen to Workrider.

All comments to me are welcome and alerting people to danger is to be commended.
Report TellTheKing April 11, 2015 10:04 AM BST
Fair play he called it correctly wildman. Personally though I would have considered dinglemick's recommendation of Theinval more worthy of such adulation. That was very tricky race to work out.

Another Elliot / Gigginstown  axis horse has a serious chance today. I backed The Game Changer last night @ 12's. Price has contracted somewhat now but he's still a bet. He reminds me of a better class Far Away So Close who won this race for the owners a few years ago.
Report wildmanfromborneo April 11, 2015 10:21 AM BST
Dinglemick is an excellent poster but the thread was entitled Don Cossack

I always thought The Game Changer kept something for himself but have no idea of the quality of opposition.
