You do realise that going wide on Cape Glory allowed him first run on the winner whose chance was compromised by going down the inside?

You could do with improving your syntax far more then Cooper needs to improve his riding.

easygold you remind me of the oiks you see in betting shops.  Always upset with some jockey or other.

I would have thought the 2 lengths Cooper gained on the winner by getting a clear run outside wouldn't have compensated for the huge amount of ground he lost having a much wider trip during the whole race.....

Roger I generally apply a multiplier effect on lengths lost / saved in the latter part of a race (i.e. when they start properly racing). I would be of the view that any ground conceded early was more than compensated for by the clean run he got. I'd have the winner marked as a decidedly better horse than Cape Glory and he was flattered to be so close.

Easy the thread was obviously started on foot of the Cape Glory ride and I took issue with your post. I consider starting threads criticising jockeys as a complete waste of time given they aren't going to be reading them (and most are too stupid to read in any case). I have a shortlist of go-to jockeys punting wise and Cooper ranks fairly high. He makes mistakes but I don't see any fault in today's ride.

Well I do TTK......... i don`t like a rider racing 4 wide especially on goodish ground.......... he had the same problem at Cheltenham (Thunder Zone, laughable) and I`m O`Leary had a word in his ear. But I say it was on deaf ears because he is back doing it again.
I will watch with interest how he rides in the near future......... because I know for a fact Elliott wasn`t happy win the T.Zone ride.

Easy I don't think its as simple as saying "Don't go wide". Every race has to be taken on its merits.

There are rumours of discontent within the Gigginstown camp but it won't say much for them to give Cooper the road not so long ago.

I'd say the top guys like Cooper and Walsh are happy enough come out of places like Downpatrick with 6 or 700 in riding fees and no injury/fall. Cooper has left a lot of money on the table already with his falls. Do any of the top lads ride the inside at the gaffs? They probably do, maybe only when they're really 'wanted'. Wonder could it be an in-running strategy?

That is a fairly pointed statement to make!

Elliot is a very very chippy character, speaks very urgently/quickly as if he always has something more pressing he could be doing. It's being passive aggressive.

He is saying it got a brass nails ride plain and simple.They should have sent Henry Cooper to ride at the meeting.

He could have grabbed a sambo in the cafe he went that wide....

Still slightly hungover if his ride on Edeymi is anything to go by.

What's happened Brian Cooper is truly remarkable.... Has gone from being looking like an all time great...to what he is right now....which is a liability at the top table..... There are rumours that his employers aren't over the moon with him ....but 2 things have struck me about him which are worrying.... Firstly in that clip from ATR where himself and Robbie Mac are in the one house.... That showed him in a poor light ....both of them actually ....he came across as somebody with very limited intelligence .....and secondly he doesn't appear to be too well liked by other big name jockeys ....was surprised that Barry geraghty referred to him as Cooper in the aftermath of this years triumph .... He wouldn't have referred to any other jockey by using his surname ....

I hate criticising jockeys because their job is so hard but I think Cooper is starting to understandably lose his nerve.
His Cheltenham fall was dreadful,his injuries were severe.
It seemed to me he remembered that fall this year so he eschewed the inside,he overdid this to a ridiculous extent.

His ride on Eydemi looked reluctant,he looked like a man not enjoying it,he is a small horse but hat ride has worried me.

I normally wouldn't be so fickle but Cooper has really regressed in a very short period of time. He had been pretty good for much of the season but having watched him closely yesterday he looked half the jockey he was. No fluency in his riding at all which was the mark of him previously. You wouldn't pick him out if he had ridden in the Hunters Chase.

If the stories are correct then his position is untenable so he either he either has to become the first rider to ever regain their bottle or else come to a severance agreement.

All jockeys go through these kind of spells , BJG a few years back , Davy , and a few more , its a hard life and most of these lads get some dreadful falls which sets them back ..Cooper is a mere child and has his life in front of him ..Young Burke was riding like achampion early on in the year ,everything he sat on seemed to win ,things have slowed down , recently after faller after faller he looked to be struggling ..In recent weeks he has pulled himself together and its starting to show ...Cooper was the best at presenting a horse at a fence early this year by a mile after his come back ..So would't be wtiting him off just yet...
