Tonight's the night we choose which song to send to Eurovision.
I have had a small interest on Molly Sterling's "Playing With Numbers" at 6/1, can never be overly confident how the voting goes in these.
Still reckon the Nikki Kavanagh favourite song is way too shouty, and the lyrics "I don't want to hear it" are very apt...
Molly, on the other hand, the first time I heard the song, I was amazed by the beauty of her voice, and her talent on the piano.
When I heard she is just 16 years old, I was staggered. It's a beautiful, mature piece, and she is out of her depth competing against these other efforts.
Unfortunately, as Noel Gallagher once said "kids don't know s--t from clay", and the kids may vote for the garbage songs tonight.
Nevertheless, it will be nice to see Molly perform tonight, and hope Ireland makes the right choice. ESC fans enjoy the night!

She might be talented, but if she is, anyone with a shred of a chance of a career should distance themselves from this competition. Blows any credibility 'an artist' might have out of the water. Think Rita Ora turned down the chance to represent the UK as she knew while she would get short-term exposure, no one worth knowing would want to work with her after.

Haven't heard this Molly girl, but if she has ability, she has been poorly advised. Only hope is that they put the entry down to youthful exuberance. Worst thing she could do is win this tonight.

Don't think he is entered up and he is English, but a guy who could go well at Eurovision is Nathan Carter. Old hand at performing and he ain't likely to want to be working with Jay-Z in the near future.

KEEN leader ..if you want an easy pick up to help the Cheltenham warchest...........the irish Eurovision final is on Friday night...all 5 entries are poor......my reliable contact says that rte will be pimping song 4, nikki Kavanagh...8/11 to 1/1 depending where you shop.....should be 1/100......I have had a punt

the second fav, you might be interested to know Wildman, is what an rte insider described to me as a "west brit, left footer, private school educated, 16 year old from puckane"...........that's gives you  sense of the undertones in the background, just punt Kavanagh.

Rodger i had a punt on K.L.say so, just less then Evens for  nikki Kavanagh  g/luck

Guess there is a first time for everything!

Ridiculous that the background of the artists matters.

I'd laugh my ass off if RTE didn't get the one THEY wanted sent over.

That "Memories" song is truly awful, the lyrics are horrific, and the shouting chorus makes my ears bleed.CryGrin

Our last few entries have fell way short of the mark Rodger, i think we still hold the record with Eurovisions wins;but i cant help feeling the Father Ted Episode might be nearer the mark then we think.  There is a young girl named Claudia Rose[ 17YEARS OLD] from Cork who is on the UK VOICE wonderful future ahead of her , have a look... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=clauda+ros

16 years old, Molly, outrageous.

Report newapproach February 27, 2015 11:22 PM GMT
Rte love diversity as mentioned earlier by olddesperado. 2 of the singers aren't even Irish. You'd think it would be enough to have 1 non-Irish candidate but 2 is tearing the arse off it. They should have held the auditions over in warsaw or somewhere.
Report frank60 February 27, 2015 11:26 PM GMT
there's been a bit of controversy about Erika Selin's inclusion in the contest; the 23-year-old Swede has no connection to Ireland, and is singing a song written by Swedish songwriters. RTE have defended her inclusion, however,, saying "This is not a new rule – in the past we’ve had acts from Slovenia and Latvia take part in our Eurosong final, just as other countries have allowed Irish singers and songwriters enter their national finals. Indeed, Irish national Fionnuala Sherry won the competition for Norway a number of years ago."

No such thing as I got that wrong.... Like in this Eurovision garbage ....and like the rubbish he was telling people about prince de beauchenne ....and the nonsense about last years Eurovision semi final.... KL dismissed Road to Riches as a 999/1 shot in the Lexus, lot of guys would have laid him on the basis of his say so the recent stuff has not been good.

I'm aware that I myself have put up more losers on this thing than most. I'd have a regard for the man's opinion but as Ger Lyons would say, the form of late 'is what it is'.
