Nap material today. First two in the betting maiden hurdle winners albeit impressive ones...Strong traveller, Ground just what this lad wants today, step up in trip likely to be more of a help than a hindrance having won over just short of 2 miles there, grade one winner previously, although a poor one. nearly 4 times the price of the Fav and on a line through Baily Cloud that is just plain silly.

OWNER Graham Wylie may be keen to turn Nichols Canyon into the next Inglis Drever, but Ruby Walsh, who won Sunday's Deloitte Novice Hurdle on the son of Authorized, is not convinced he is ready for three miles.
Wylie enjoyed some fantastic moments with three-time World Hurdler winner Inglis Drever and has long been on the lookout for a replacement for the staying star. Nichols Canyon is entered in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle (2m½f), Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle (2m5f) and the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (3m) at the Cheltenham Festival next month, although Wylie has said he will leave plans to Willie Mullins and - if the trainer listens to Walsh - the options could be reduced to the two shorter races. Walsh said: "Nichols Canyon won the Deloitte Novice Hurdle, which rode a good race. They went a good gallop and he was keen enough, but he jumped super and he quickened up well, and saw out the trip. "Which race he will run in at the festival, I don't know but Graham Wylie also owns Shaneshill and Black Hercules so a discussion has to be had about where they all have the best chance of winning." Nichols Canyon is 10-1 for the Supreme, 7-1 for the Neptune and 14-1 for the Albert Bartlett, and Walsh added: "I think he is likely to be over two miles to two and half - he stayed well on Sunday, but I can't see three miles." |

I would prefer his chances in Supreme, but Ruby will want him in the Neptune, so that is where he will go.

Callit with they options they have would you not think they'll send NC to the supreme, Shaneshill rsa or whatever its called now and BH AB, all in the same ownership and both shaneshill's starts this season have been over 2 1/2, surely they wont drop him back for supreme and likewise surely they wont run 2 in one race

Nicholls would be shorter in Neptune than Shaneshill though. Ruby will want the best possible chance in every race, and he thinks Douvan is past the post in the Supreme. Wont want NC to be in opposition there, and then lose him for Neptune. He will get his way for sure. Again.

Interesting take on it callit although farcical if that is the case re ruby, having said that same time last year we were all having a similar debate re UDS.
Being an ex flat and a very good one at that u'd expect to excel around there Norn i agree. I can genuinely see NC going right to the top over 2 miles in time |
