MAN OF STEEL AND LEGEND LETS JUST PRAY HE RETIRES SAFE IN SUCH DANGEROUS SPORT FOR GREAT FAMILY MAN AND TOP BLOKE
By:
Hardly a big surprise.Has declined as a rider over the last couple of years.Geraghty to take over a possible or maybe Paul Townend.
By:
There will never be another AP McCoy .

GREAT JOCKEY,

By:
SAYS he go till the end of the season ("PRAY HE RETIRES SAFE").
By:
Tony57 I guess he read your post and acted on your advice.
By:
lol..mr combustible, I never said for him to quit I just said hes not the jockey he was ?and his mrs said on tv she asked him to retire!!!
By:
Who do you guys think is in the pipeline to replace AP as JPs retained rider in England? Ive noticed Towned taking a few mid week trips over there to ride the last cpl of weeks......
By:
Paul would be a great choice alright , doubt he'd leave Willie though ..Ruby will be having thoughts of retirement and Paul would be thinking he'd be the man to step in...Maguire might be tempted to leave McCain for a big job like this ...
By:
NOEL FEHILY CERT
By:
Maguire has a better chance of driving the chopper mattress head.
By:
Would be a tough decision for Townend allright, leave the job where hes treated like a doormat or go and ride for the biggest owner in the history of NH racing.Wonky when they were giving out brains you must have been in having a crap.
By:
No bigger job than stable jock to Mullins at the moment. Look at the class of animal available. If PT feels that Ruby might be stepping aside sometime soon, and that he will get the nid to take over, then he would be dead right to stay put.
Depends what timescale he puts on the rest of Rubys career. He is probably in a better position than most to correctly estimate that. |
By:
JP WILL HAVE 3 CHOICES ONLY 1 NOEL FEHILY CLASS 2 BARRY GERAGHTY SUPERB OR STICK WITH VERY MUCH UNDER RATED MARK WALSH
By:
Townend is only a fall away from the best job in racing.
By:
WMFB AGREED PAUL NO DOUBT IS TAKING OVER WHEN RUBY RETIRES SO WHO IS YOUR PICK FOR JPS NEXT JOCKEY ?
By:
Doubt if its Geraghty as he is getting on,same could apply to Fehily.
I think they will go for a young jockey and one based in England. |
By:
Do u really expect Townend to wait around for Ruby to decide when he will retire and turn down a job a FIRST jockey to the wealthiest and biggest owner in racing. He may not be offered it but to turn it down would be folly.
By:
Purpose , try and get real ffs ...Paul is in his early 20s Ruby is near the end of a cracking life at the top ,sure to pull up stumps soon ..So Paul should give up what will be the TOP job in N.H. racing to go over to England and ride in every gaff track there ..Mark would appear to have gone up in JPs estimation , riding out of his skin atm , whos to say he wont be called up ..If the deal hasen't done already for all we know...
By:
If I was JP I would call on Venetia Williams and sign up Coleman.
By:
Grand jockey Wildman,.. Paul will stay put , he has nothing to worry about from the Mullins sons, as it is he gets some nice rides.

BARRY GERAGHTY, who profited when Tony McCoy overlooked Jezki and More Of That at last year's Cheltenham Festival, could be in line to replace the retiring champion jockey as leading owner JP McManus's retained rider if Paddy Power's oddsmakers have it right.
The firm go 1-6 Geraghty joins forces with McManus next term, although **** made that link-up evens in the wake of McCoy's sensational retirement announcement at Newbury on Saturday. Betfair's sportsbook offers 1-3. Geraghty, who boasts a formidable track record at the highest level, enjoyed big-race success in McManus's famous green and gold colours at Cheltenham last year when landing the Champion Hurdle on Jezki and the World Hurdle on More Of That, with McCoy choosing to ride My Tent Or Yours and At Fishers Cross. He also deputised for the suspended McCoy on Shutthefrontdoor in last season's Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse. Paul Townend, number two to Ruby Walsh at Willie Mullins', is next best in Paddy Power's betting to replace McCoy at 8-1, while Richie McLernon, understudy to the 19-time champion at Jonjo O'Neill's, is 12-1. Mark Walsh, McManus's main rider in Ireland, can be backed at 20-1 with the firm to assume the full-time role, but is Betfair's 2-1 second favourite. JP McManus's next retained rider Paddy Power: 1-6 Barry Geraghty, 8 Paul Townend, 12 Richie McLernon, 20 Richard Johnson, Noel Fehily, Aidan Coleman, Mark Walsh, Bryan Cooper, 33 Ruby Walsh, Tom OBrien, 66 Joseph |

The top job in the game by a million miles is the retained rider for JP McManus...
Barry Geraghty is an absolute certainty to be offered it and he will take it too...... If Paul Townend was lucky enough to be offered it he wouldn't have to think for a second before accepting....By purpose is right he has been treated like a doormat for years by Mullins....on top of that there will be 50 horses he cant ride belong to Gigginstown in Mullins yard....plus a few from McManus.....Danny Mullins is getting rides....plus David Mullins is coming on stream also.....so wonky please shut up ya imbecile when you are dismissing people about the likelihood of Townend leaving.....because as usual you haven't got a notion..... The real betting is 1/20 Geraghty 20/1 Townend and 1000000/1 any other.... |
By:
Imminently sensible to go with Geraghty really. Could have a good 2 or 3 years and McManus has improved his quality of horse in the last few years for sure.
Mark Walsh is a nice rider but does he have the strength, decisiveness and bloody mindedness of the big guys? No. Townend looks a future McManus jockey at some stage and the fact that that David Mullins is after coming along must surely be a massive headache to him for his future Mullins prospects. Ruby is gone choosy with rides and with the lighter schedule could go on another 5 years barring falls. Rightly f u cks Townend. |
By:
paulie, how manny good grade 1 horses has jp got ?..he may have the most horses in training and could help you be champion jockey but winning the big races on a regular basis?surely ricci and wylie would make townend think before he left mullins?
By:
Barry Geraghty is 35 and enjoying riding good horses.
He won't want to move to England,he won't want to travel to all those country tracks. He might not be offered the job first of all and secondly he might turn it down. Should be odds against in that market. Paulie you don't price no retained jockey,I think that's a huge possibility. |
By:
I think the walsh kid will get the job in Ireland and use best available in uk?..I think your right about geraghty Wildman, although money changes everything?lol
By:
Tony, Walsh has the job in Ireland already!
By:
Real lack of top quality riders around. McManus record in big races should improve no matter who he hires

yes big willy, but I mean he,ll keep it..when ap comes over he makes way..lol..sorry I should of explained..

JP McManus's next retained UK rider Betfair Sportsbook.

I'd go
4/5 No Retained Jock 5/4 Geraghty 5/1 Townend 16/1 N Fehily 20/1 R Mclernon 100/1 M Walsh 1000000000/1 Bar I'll probably do my brains in but so goes. Part of me would be shocked to see Geraghty going with McManus.....family in Ireland, can't see him driving the highways of England for some yack at Cartmel. Its less of the McManus role as it is Jonjos stable jockey......which brings the likes of Fehily, McLernon less so into the equation... My money would be on Townend or fehily |
By:
Mice retainer for Barry though with him nearly finished. He'll ride most of them in the big races, anyway if nobody is appointed. Might just be happy with that.
