Sky will broadcast the Open Championship from 2017 after winning exclusive live TV rights.
The broadcaster has signed a five-year deal to show the oldest of golf's major championships, the R&A announced.
The BBC, which has previously broadcast the tournament live, will now show a two-hour daily highlights package between 20:00 and 22:00.
The BBC will show this year's Open at St Andrews and the 2016 tournament at Royal Troon live on television.
From 2017, the BBC will continue to provide live radio coverage of the tournament on BBC Radio 5 live, and to cover the tournament online.
Director of BBC Sport Barbara Slater said: "We're obviously disappointed that we were unable to retain live TV coverage of The Open Championship.

Veteran BBC commentator Peter Alliss, whose voice has become synonymous with the tournament, led the chorus of disapproval.
"It saddens me because I have been working since 1961 but it really saddens me because all golfers throughout Britain and Europe will miss the BBC," he told BBC Radio 5. "I don't think there will be a golfer that won't be bitterly disappointed at the news today."

I don't have the nostalgia for BBC as I grew up with Bog 1 and Bog 2.

Sky do a better job of covering golf.

BBC sport would have Rishi Persad, Gary Liniker & ****g Craig Doyle out on the course talking ****.

Boycott did what openers should do stayed around.
He probably wouldn't count in today's game.

I was watching a test match many years ago between Australia and England when my youngest daughter came down unable to sleep.
When a player was out for a duck a cartoon duck used to come on dressed like a cricketer, smoke would come out of his ears and he would slump off with a large tear dropping from his eye.
My little girl was getting bored when she piped up " when's that duck coming on again " I was able to reply " shouldn't be long England are batting "

Ronnie Irani the English cricketer was practicing in the nets when Boycott offered to take a look at his batting. Boycott came over in his beige suit and Panama hat and said "Get down there Irani and let's see what you've got" The bowler took out a new ball ran up and whipped one down which he got nowhere near. He missed the second and the third knocked over his middle stump. Boycott stood at the other end, impassive. He got an edge on the next ball and it hit the stumps. Boycott strolled down and asked Irani "are you taking the pi$$." Irani mumbled something about the wicket and the fact that the bowler had a new ball. Boycott was not impressed "new fcuking ball? My granny can bowl better than him" By now a few people had gathered around to see what the great man had to say. A couple of balls later he yelled down the pitch "Lad, you've got some sh1t on the end of your bat" Irani picked up the bat and looked at the end of it but could see nothing. As he was looking at the bat Boycott called out "No, Irani, the other end!!"
