Just one from me ..Twinlight 3.40
Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 10:58 AM GMT
Going to have a good bet on Hidden Cyclone. Shark wouldn't train tea out of a pot, and one wonders how good this beast might have been if someone capable had of got him at an early stage. But he definitely looks the most likely winner of this event. Twinlight had his measure at Leop over Xmas, but an 8lb swing today would be more than enough to turn the tables on there form there.

HC chased a pretty fast pace in conditions, and took it up at an early stage. I feel the race kind of fell into Twinlights lap, and considering how inconsistent he is, he is far from certain to reproduce that running. I will be very surprised if HC doesn't win with a clear round.

not a card that appeals to me as a punting proposition im sorry to say,..small e/w bet on wrath of titans...better racing over @Musselburgh..best of luck all
Report workrider February 1, 2015 11:16 AM GMT
My nap is  Aminabad 2.40 ,liked the way this fellow won at Wexford from a good field , won with a lot  in hand and sure to improve , I'd say Ruby would prefer to be riding him today  , Rubys mount looked to be struggling at Tramore till picking up late , not sure there is that much improvement in him ..
Mr Diablo is a decent horse sure to give his all , doubt it will be good enough ..
Bentelimar is on a upward curve and could prove to be the main danger...
Report Santry February 1, 2015 11:18 AM GMT
Really tough card today so I can only see the one bet. Hidden Cyclone may not win many races but will he ever get a better chance than today. 6/4 not normally my type of price but will take it today. Twinlight inconsistent and Bright New Dawn may need further.

Good Luck all.
Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 11:19 AM GMT
Coupe of decent events at Muss alright. Two very interesting runners, Cinders and Ashes in the 2m hcp, and Call me Bubbles in the last. Both coming off long layoffs, but if ready will take a hand in proceedings. At the prices I wont have to pay much to find out.
Report tony57 February 1, 2015 11:27 AM GMT
callit 3.30 is cracker, I saw RACING EUROPE @bangor if the race was run on looks he,d win by a mile, but hes got plenty of stamina..and im on him today the only worry is if the track is too sharp..?..the big ?..is hendersons..this is a morning glory, but if it runs to its home form then he,ll be the one to beat..but I couldn't back him..ive backed another Ellison runner on the card..
Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 11:38 AM GMT
Have backed Racing Europe myself. Might have a saver on Uisge Beatha.
Report tony57 February 1, 2015 11:40 AM GMT
may I ask you why you fancied it callit?
Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 11:46 AM GMT
Had backed it myself that day at Bangor, was crying out for further. Not overly impressive the last day, I think there is plenty more under the bonnet. Better race should see him in much better light than that scrappy event. As you say, he looks like he should be a good 'un.

Done my tonsils there today , poor crowd and very little activity in the ring , knew i was in trouble from the get go , backed the fav in first , not like me to back a odds on shot , this has never happened to me before in 40 yrs of going racing , the bookie called me back and gave me 4/6 instead of 8/13 ..I knew i was sunk in the water right away ..Anyone  else ever had a bookie do that , unheard of I'd say ..Went to my usual spot , lo and behold my racing post from the 10th of Jan was still there and the cup of tea ..Says a lot for the cleaning staff would't you say...
Report workrider February 1, 2015 6:31 PM GMT

Fatty back with another negative as usual , tell me where theres a bin in the main stand ..?...Maybe I should clean up the bird **** at the top of the stand as well eh Fatty ...
Report workrider February 1, 2015 9:55 PM GMT

Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 9:57 PM GMT
To be fair WR....that's 1-0 to Pre Fat!!
Report workrider February 1, 2015 10:11 PM GMT
Well if thats the case Callit ,I dont think there is any need for Punchetown to hire cleaning staff ..Take a walk up the top of the stands , place is littered with bird **** and thats the N/H flagship track ..Its a disgrace if I'm honest and it adds to the image of the dirty Paddy  we are trying so hard to lose...If I was the manager and found a paper still lying in the stand from the last meeting I'd want to know why it still hadn't been cleared..
Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 10:21 PM GMT
I don't disagree with you WR, but have to admit to a chuckle at Pre Fats post!

Hell ova lot of behind the scenes work goes on to have racecourses clean, especially at festivals. I didn't realise just how much until this year at Punch. Yes, in an ideal world everything should be picked up, or put away, but I'm sure Dick O'Sullivan will expect some nooks and crannys to be missed.

Go into any nightclub just before opening. It will be fuc king stinking, feet stuck to floor, but drink covers a lot of problems. Racecourses are pretty damn clean in comparison.

You must have a pretty secluded spot to study in!
Report workrider February 1, 2015 10:28 PM GMT
No Callit , I stand up in the stand ,beside Ted and Noel and a few others ....Not secluded at all ,in fact very much out in the open ,hense the dissapointment today to still see the remains of my last visit , there was also some food a family had left behind from the last meeting as well ..So not up to speck imo , and for a visitor to see that would create a very poor image ...Why should the place only be fully cleaned for the festival ..?
Report easygold February 1, 2015 10:34 PM GMT
Workrider......... you should be more annoyed with your studying........ and napping a horse off the track for 75 days........ only joking Captain
Report callitasucit February 1, 2015 10:37 PM GMT
I didn't say it should WR, just mentioning how tough a job it is during a festival to have it cherry ripe for the following day.
Report Arklearkle February 1, 2015 11:31 PM GMT
Would'nt you think those dirty bastids of birds would have eaten the sandwiches in the first place. Like everyone else in this country all overfed nowadays.
Report Distant View February 2, 2015 11:49 AM GMT
A paper and a what I assume must have been a half empty cup of tea was in the same place in an open stand 3 weeks later?

I used to think there was a micro climate in Leopardstown but how Punchestown managed to escape all this wind for the past few weeks, puts Leopardstown in its place.
Report paulie wallnuts February 2, 2015 12:51 PM GMT
Nothing would surprise me as regards Irish racecourses.....never mind the rubbish on the ground.....what about the third world catering at these tracks.....its a disgrace to the game......no other way of putting it.....its no wonder the birds wouldn't eat the Shiite.....if it was sourced from a racecourse dining hall.....there isn't one racecourse in this country where the catering is within an arses roar of the Grade 1 tracks in Britain....and that simply isn't good enough.....
Take for example Thurles.....people are now not turning up at this shiitehole.....and rightly so....irish people have for too long tolerated third world facilities.....the track should be closed with immediate effect.....
Report workrider February 2, 2015 4:57 PM GMT
From what i can gather Dobbins have fell out with the course , lots of Donegal type accents behind the counter yesterday ..
Report paulie wallnuts February 2, 2015 5:31 PM GMT
Personally id rather eat the leg of a chair than eat at an Irish racecourse.....Big Brian doesn't eat too often where the paying public are forced to dine at id say when he comes racing......well at least ive never noticed him .....maybe im wrong and he does regularly but id be surprised......I am open to correction on this and somebody may well have seen him.....
for anybody who isn't familiar with what he looks like.....he will be the one sitting down with a cheek on each seat......
