Did anyone hear him on Liveline last Friday kow-towing to an Imam by uttering the words PRAISE BE ALLAH -Joe got all soft-voiced and emotional because it was 'just after Friday prayers'.

You can hear it just after the 55 min mark on the RTE 1 radio player. I had to check that I hadn't misheard as I nearly fell off my chair upon first hearing.

30 odd years of Political Correctness have brought us to this point of outlandish obsequiousness.

It would be hilarious were it not so horrible to witness.

If he did say that , and surely there was no need ,he should be made withdraw it ...Afraid of their shadows those rte crowd ..Shameful behaviour from the national broadcaster , maybe Joe can ring him and ask him why there are no Christian Churchs in S.Arabia ...Time the Christians started to fight back in their own country ..

Withdraw it?  Why ?  Does he not have Muslim listeners and can he not acknowledge them?

God knows we have had  a century of the Angelus being bombarded into our homes on state sponsored media.

He is forever saying 'Amen'.

And as for your constant analogy of Saudi Arabia do you really think we should mirror that society?  Or stick to our own values of openness and inclusivity?  As far as I now, all relgions are respected in our Constitution.  It seems to me absurd that you should suggest mirroring the behavour of a Society you openly condemn.

Ozy ,I think you are missing the point , maybe by choice ,the fact is we have been very generous with helping to built the mosque in Clonskeagh and many others ,think how we allowed them built one in Ballyhaunis when they brought over a few of their own to work in the meat factory ..Surely they should return the favor and aknowledge that pilgrims or simply holiday makers would like to pop into a church to say a little prayer , not a lot too ask i'm sure you'll agree...

Savages grandad became a Fianna Fáil grandee and fabulously wealthy.
His main claim to fame was closing down the Harcourt Street railway line he compounded this error by ensuring it couldn't reopen by selling the land off for minuscule sums all so he couldn't be proved wrong.

If you think the wealthy Andrews family are anything other than a over fed liberal elite you are blinded by civil war politics.

My family held no high positions during either conflict and none received any of those dubious IRA pensions De Valera doled out for political favour.

Its a standard liberal position to hate their own,its in spades in Ozymandius.

He hates everything Irish, thinks we were a third world country thirty years ago.

He hates Catholicism but loves Islam.

This phenomenon is best exemplified by Mary Robinson when she was president.
Refused to cover her head when entering a church in the Vatican but when entering a mosque became all coy took off her shoes walked two steps behind the men and covered her head.

Ireland’s goal of becoming the best place in the world to do business by 2016 may already be a reality. According to business magazine Forbes, Ireland scores across the board when measuring business friendliness.

In Forbes’ eighth annual ranking of the Best Countries for Business, Ireland grabbed the top spot for the first time.

The country was the only nation that ranked among the top 15pc of countries in every one of the 11 metrics Forbes examined.

Ireland, it reported, ranked near the top for low tax burden, investor protection and personal freedom.

Ireland also ranked high in terms of the Irish Stock Exchange, which delivered a 44pc return in the 12 months to 20 November, ranking first among the top 30 countries.

Ireland’s reputation is being helped by the country’s status as digital capital of Europe – the go-to place for the international headquarters of the top 10 'born on the internet' companies, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Dropbox and many more.

However, the Forbes report noted uncomfortable truths about the Irish economy: nominal wages fell 17pc between 2008 and 2011, and unemployment remains stubbornly high at 12.8pc.

New Zealand ranked No 2 overall, down one spot from last year. Hong Kong ranks third for the second straight year, although economic growth has slowed for international trade and finance.

Ireland is a fabulously wealthy country, we have just squandered it in the most foolish way imaginable. Foe some reason, we have decided to pay for free education for all. This has cost us millions, possibly billions and has led to a massive reduction in the standard of our graduates. Then we ship these graduates all over the world to far flung places like America, Australia and Dubai. Next we import in uneducated, eastern Europeans, many of who are unwilling or unable (supposedly) to work and pay them large amounts of social welfare.

History will judge this debacle to be very foolish.

That's an old story, Wonks, dates back to 2011.

It was the police he was accused of giving the finger to, not the Paki Taxi man.  He was hammered at the time and for a man who had lived there for years, should have known better.  He admits to making a gesture, claims that it was misinterpeted.

I was terrified driving over there, as, as you might imagine, I would be prone to the occasional bout of road rage, but you just have to rein yourself in.
