thus spake the judge in finding against Pat Hughes in the case of possession of illegal substances.

Today's Irish Field carry a piece on page 3 (always the preserve of Costello and Powell) by a freelancer Conor Kane merely outlining the details of the case.

I searched in vain for as single piece of editorial on the matter. Thank goodness PH is a "has been" and hasn't tainted the sport at all, at all.

Pretty gutless, shambolic reaction from Ireland's industry mag.

The industry mag is a "yesterday" publication. I stopped buying it about 5 years ago. It hasn't come into the 20th century never mind the 21st. The editor has no backbone, afraid to tell the truth.

All the journalists who write for them industry papers are all on the gravy train. They will not publish anything that is damaging against any part of the industry or the bodies that run it.The Bookmakers long running high court case with Dundalk is  another prime example of been gagged, only snippets here and there about what was going on in the high court. The National press will have field day when that finishes from what i am led to believe,The COSTS are in the region of 2 million, and what ever damages is awarded on top of that to 30 plus bookmakers.

Have to disagree to some extent. Kevin Blake's column each week in The Irish Field not afraid to be critical and incisive.

Pat Keane who is a very knowledgable journalist slated Shane Foley in his column this week in yesterday's examiner.....

Yeah.....he really slated him. Probably asked Shane Foley could he print it.

If you backed Drifting Mist, and she had an each way shout at 14-1 in an eight-horse affair, in a Listed race at the Curragh last Sunday, then you were entitled to tear the old hair out.

Drifting Mist was partnered by Shane Foley, in this two-mile stamina test, and the way she tore off in front was mind-boggling.

She had run a nice sort of race, admittedly also from the front, but with far more restraint exercised, when third in a Listed event at Listowel previously.

Anyway, most of the jockeys in behind just ignored her at the Curragh, fully aware that it was impossible to maintain such a gallop, over such a trip.

In the end it was a miracle that Drifting Mist didn’t collapse, as she trailed home stone last, beaten 77 lengths. Oh dear!

Gant.....hes more or less saying that Foley has ridden a disgraceful race.....he said it was a miracle that the mare didn't collapse.....he could hardly have been more scathing of Foley......its a fairly damning indictment of a rider who is riding for one of the top stables in this country.....

I suppose Shane aint that high profile. I look forward to him slating the next jockey who blazes a trail on a 14/1 shot, falls in a heap and eases a beaten horse 3 furlongs out.

Sure maybe you might find something interesting in the papers, twitter or facebook for me to comment on.
Bookmakers having a barney at Listowel or a top 10 jockey cocking up a 14/1 shot, as Pat Keane would say "oh dear".
