Spot on Rocketfingers, Hurling is up there with Barcelona, Real, Bayern and the All Blacks of this world.
Football needs to get the finger out as Rugby and Cricket( 2.5 million investment for an academy)will catch it up in years to come. Soccer will be down for a long time and could get passed by Ladies Football and Camogie. |
By:
I apologise to the Ladies GAA as it has now gone ahead of League of Ireland Soccer.

tbf, parkinson was not a bad footballer.abit of pace and close ball control, the problem with him was, he couldn't mix it,he didn't like the auld physical stuff.his hair style was asking for it!

By:
But why have a go at hurling, Gant comes on here and defends him to the last. Gant hates hurling, Parkinson is bitter guessing he was not good enough to play hurling or any other sport with skill in it, so he got stuck with gaelic then he was considered too small and kicked the ball too much and was told he was not the inter county type, sad but seems to be taking his anger out on hurling.
By:
Gant hates hurling so i would take what he says with a pinch of salt and through gritted teeth !!!
By:
Rocketfingers........True GAA people love their games, be it Hurling or Football. To be honest they don't slag off other sports and regularly give them a dig out.
Your hatred of the GAA will drive you mad. |
By:
Gant how can i hate the GAA if i am a hurling fanatic?
![]() Gant we know you and kavvie are bitter with how the hurling was received in the UK compared to the gaelic football. But please don't take it out on the game of hurling or us hurling fans. Hurling is the premium sport of the GAA and it does not sit well with your kind ![]() |
By:
gant dont go down to his level!!
By:
Kavvie........Only ripping the piss out of him. We all know his game but sure it takes the gloss off some of the things going on in his own sport.
By:
Kavvie......Sure Colm Parkinson's family don't even give a damn what he thinks.
By:
I can't believe you lads are having a pop at me, you gaelic football lads are looking on with green eyes at us hurlers. You and Parky need to leave the game of hurling alone and get back as to how to 'fix' gaelic football and try and make a sport where people may find it good to watch, i think the sky viewing figures prompted Parkies outburst as much as anything.
![]() |
By:
rocket even thought you would know it gaelic games are followed by gaelic games fans..theres no green eyes looking anywhere..hows all the dubs playing with sligo getting on?in and out quick.play.get paid.get back to the capital!!
By:
I wouldn't worry too much about the GAA, it's in a good place and getting stronger.
The real success story is Ladies GAA but you have no fear of them robbing soccer players in Sligo. (not that you lads have any of note). |
By:
Lads there is clear you both agree with Parky or else you would not be defending him and attacking the messenger who is me. You are both very jealous of how popular hurling has become and it is now seen as the premier sport in the GAA, it must be some kick in the stones for lads like you 2 and Parky when they see Joey Barton tweeting about hurling, as i said above does not sit well with diehards from areas who have never lifted a Sliotar and now areas such as WestMeath and Meath and the local yokels are up in arms over it.
Now let me ask you how do you intened to fix the sport of gaelic football? |
By:
Hurling will always be the jewel in the crown. We try hard in weaker Hurling counties and have competitive championships.
The easiest game on earth is soccer and we only have a 5 county premier division and these lads get paid. |
By:
Rocketfingers......A senior Hurling club match in Meath would get a similar crowd to a few of the League of Ireland teams........NOT GREAT BUT IT IS IMPROVING.
By:
fix the sport of gaelic football?!? hmm is that the sport that attracted 80000 plus to semi finals and fial this year?is that the game that the semi final draw and replay were reckoned to be two of the finest games ever played? maybe ill start goin to to kentucky fried chicken league games?nil all draws usually with more guards than spectators?!!?
By:
Kavvie the game is broken compared to hurling and soccer. Look at the Hurling championships amazing, look at soccer the world cup was amazing, look at Rugby they have the all blacks, gaelic football has Donegal, so let me ask you this gaain and gant how will you fix it so that it has some sort of skill involved in it? The 15 men behind the ball is boring that is why it has not taken off like hurling on sky.
By:
Exactly how can you lads comapare Tipp or cats to Donegal? You can't, how long woult it take 15 rugby guys to play hurling that never played before and get them to intercounty level years and years and years, Soccer how many years would it take take 15 rugby players to play in the Champions league? You can't it would never happen, Pat Spillane says give him 15 rugby lads and he'll give you an inter county team in 6 months. And you lads are defening Parky while having pop at hurling !!
So let me ask you how owuld you fic the sport and how would you get the sport as many viewers as hurling attracts on sky? |
By:
great one on you tube of lester ryan at 10 yrs old doing an acceptance speech of liam mccarthy in his kk jersey..amazing really ..
By:
Rocketfingers.......Some of us are not obsessed with our British friends watching SKY sports.
Sure you hate British soccer and all the hard working Irish people who travel over to matches......barstoolers, plastic supporters etc. What would our British SKY sports viewers think of our domestic soccer league?. |
By:
Some of the stuff on twitter, youtube today regarding one of the smaller sports in this country.......Rocketfingers, your boys are not funny anymore.
By:
Gant running down hurling again, could not make it up can't see how gaelic football is now such dross and the final summed it up, it's meant to be the pinnacle of the sport.
![]() |
By:
Haha......Hurling aint a small sport.
By:
What are you talking about? Are you talking about Soccer? Is Soccer a small sport? Probably is in Meath as people play one sport just
![]() |
By:
Still probably more Meathmen than Sligomen playing pro soccer in the UK or LOI.
In Ireland the local soccer scene is alive and well (only started a few weeks in Meath)but not much appetite for the LOI.....Crowds are getting worse. |
By:
So Soccer is a small sport?
Ah Gant is so bitter and twisted now it is eating him inside, great to watch this. |
By:
Soccer is a huge global sport but well down the pecking order in this country. The top league here struggle to get Camogie size crowds at some matches. Cork City on the other hand are trying hard and making a good fist of it to get the punters in.
By:
Soccer is the most played sport in Ireland, if you don't believe ask the Irish govt. And it is still the most watched club sport in Ireland. Your attacks on hurling and soccer are funny although desperate at the same time which it so enjoyable
![]() |
By:
I would not doubt that, most houses have Sky Sports and the main reason is for the soccer.
By:
Sure a 40000 crowd at a GAA match is about what the LOI gets in a month.
By:
What Gaelic football club gets 40k?
![]() The comebacks are getting weaker Gant. |
By:
Oh I forgot.....You lads rate county teams on a par with the National Soccer team and Parish teams on a par with professional LOI soccer teams.
What Soccer Club gets 40000?. Liverpool doesn't count. |
