If you have a soul,if you have ere a gra for racing you will be there.

This looks to me the best flat card ever run in Ireland.

dont post on this forum much , but defo going both days ,as said above if u like flat racing and betting on it ,and live in ireland u should be going ,this event must be supported ,and i don't want to curse it ,but we've got great bloody weather at the moment ,am putting sunscreen on in sep for the first time ever ,i've stood in leopardstown in dec ,and u know it cold then

Nope, would have gone if it was on earlier but of course the twats have it as an late afternoon / evening meeting making it impossible to get to Shelbourne in time for the first race

So you will be there Wildman? You could meet up with wonky....
Report wildmanfromborneo • September 12, 2014 12:00 PM BST
I won't be there.

Nearly 3000 posts in 12 years, all short all about Workrider, that's some obsession.

Individuals tend to obsess about interesting people,Workrider is some interesting character, there are a number on here obsessing about him.

I have a few obsessors myself,Ozymandius has created over twenty threads about me,he monitors along with a few others my light here.

The latest obsession is for me to say Dr Livingstone I presume,I intend to let it simmer, whip our fans into a frenzy,it will become like one of their beloved soap operas a will I won't I scenario.
Report slickster • September 12, 2014 1:35 PM BST
Your post of last night is somewhat hypocritical Wildman wouldn't you say? Somebody needs to keep an eye on wonks. Let's face it, he's not the sharpest is he? Great for a laugh though, for that I applaud him.

Fantastic card but on a separate note  the Tote's (Fred's) greed by including the 4.40 at Leopardstown in the Scoop 6 should surely backfire with the potential of reserves and the spirit of the decision. The deserving favourite will probably be John Kiely's  mare who is undoubtedly well handicapped and Fran Berry didn't cover himself in glory at Killarney over a shorter trip.
Report punchestown • September 12, 2014 6:44 PM BST
Really like Mustajeeb in the 6.15.

I got a couple of tickets from the tote so i be heading there and leaveing before the last race[heading for shelbourne] I was offered 2 free tickets in paddy powers today so if you friendly with the staff there should be a few tickets around tomorrow morning...Wildman could well be right about tomorrows card a big sports day for racing fans, p.s Wildman i suggested that you should have a e/way  bet[1st 4] at 33/1 a few weeks ago on a dog named Borneo who is running in the final of the irishgreyhound derby tomorrow night, still a good price at 8/1 .good luck with your bets lads
Report somemuppet • September 12, 2014 11:41 PM BST
Cant wait for it, I never miss the champion stakes and Hennessy meetings. The atmospheres contrast sharply but still  great card.

JFK , eagle rock and Australia treble will return you close to 400 for 100 stake. Its hard to find challengers to these 3 very good horses.

I like Blue hussar ew t 10/1 in race 3 , the distance will give him a great chance and I like captain joy ew at 25/1 in last, will like ground , distnce and jockey in good form lately.

Other races hard to deal with .

What do you think ?
Report mitch leary • September 12, 2014 11:46 PM BST
I wouldn't be mad on JFK the form hasn't exactly been franked. Hyped up. I'll have a small bet on tombelaine.
I've already backed rise a 5-2.
Report mitch leary • September 12, 2014 11:47 PM BST
Rizeena that is.

Heading up for both days with the wife. Did both days of the Guineas meeting which we really enjoyed but would have been superb if the weather was better....with the beautiful weather we're having, today and tomorrow look set to have the makings of a memorable weekend. Also going on the Thoroughbred Trail.

Looking at today's card:

3.35 I like the Galway form lines of Chinese Light and Tamadhor tying in with Legatissimo. Bocca Baciata obviously looks a danger too.

4.05 At the prices, I prefer the form of Tombelaine over John F Kennedy

4.40 Ultra competitive as you would expect and I have a bunch of fancies which I will try and narrow down near the off. I like Wexford Town, Bayan, Digenta, Toe The Line, Spacious Sky, Winter Lion and Pyromanic.

5.15 Really like Hall of Mirrors here against Free Eagle. Was at the Curragh on his first and second runs this season after a huge absence and was amazed they brought him back and he seems to be improving all the time.

5.45 Looks on paper to be between Tapestry and Rizeena. I prefer the latter since I think that she has the edge over the trip.

6.15 Finding it very hard to settle on a selection. Haven't totally discounted Darwin on his last run, but was he flattered by the way the race was run? Dropping Parish Hall back in trip looks very interesting. Bow Creek looks progressive and of course so does Mustajeeb

7.20 Like a kid in a candy shop on this one too!! For me, I have to narrow it down from Piri Wango, Captain Joy Almargo, Burn The Boats, Dalkova & Baraweez

Help needed!!!

Enjoy the weekend and good luck with your bets.
Report pa lapsy • September 13, 2014 11:00 AM BST
Lovely card but a very hard punting one and tomorrow looks better to me.
Might be more of a hinderance than a help WWW but knocked out Piri Wango on ground, prefer Burn the Boats to Captain Joy on the Curragh run as thought BTB would be a little bit closer as was slightly hampered, Dalkova has improved markedly last few runs, couldn't put you off him.Did a small ew myself on Baraweez, raced wide on his two runs at Galway and did very well in both despite a poor draw with his 3rd, seems to need a strong pace which he will get here. Loads with chances though.GL all with your picks.

Weld:- FREE EAGLE.

"Provided I am satisfied with the ground, he will run and he will run a very big race," Weld says of the classy son of High Chaparral. "He is going to put in a big performance, but equally I am being realistic. He is a lovely big, gross horse that has developed powerfully and he hasn't run for a year. If he is beaten, it will be on account of fitness. -

Smullen rode it like he thought he could pick them up whenever he pleased but the winner got a dream run throughout the race and it wasn't helped by Smullen taking a pull shortly after leaving the stalls and ended up 3rd last turning in and about 5 wide,he had to expend some energy to get to a challenging position and flattened out in the final 50 yds.Thought he was over confident but that's racing.

No idea why Joseph rode so wide and hard around the bend .  Surely when you are on ( allegedly) the best horse by far in the race , you can pick your position and pounce when it suits you .

Ryan Moore the best around these isles at present , guess that why he is riding for Coolmore betimes .
Report dj876 • September 13, 2014 9:15 PM BST
WD Pa,nice priced winner in the last with Mr.Ellison, the wheels are firmly back on the wagon for you.

The lack of pictures cost me a few pound with the mare as had some bigger prices up as well knowing waiting tactics would be applied but the betting activity was non existent but can't complain about the day.

The Grey Gatsby probably still isn't getting the credit he deserves(despite acknowledging variance in the standard of the respective rides),Ted Walsh gave a brain dead interview with Ryan Moore asking him did you think they went too quick,if it was Emma Spencer he would have snarled back Nah I held way off it with him for the crack.

I don't normally bet ante-post but the 4/1 on Free Eagle for the English champion looks fair value if you could trust the cautious DK Weld,BF sportsbook went 4/1 Free Eagle and 8/1 the grey gatsby (9/4 dutched) up until a couple of hours ago but couldn't avail unfortunately.
Report The Gotchee • September 13, 2014 10:13 PM BST
Some people got carried away and  were suggesting that Australia after his win in the Juddmonte at York and I quote " if he improves from that he certainly can rate 133 and above." The love affair continued with this beaut "In the end he has been driven out to beat the 119 rated The Grey Gatsby by 2 lengths, but we know he is some way superior to that".
Another well known idiot then came out with this heap of manure, "....."hes a 100/1 on in the irish champion stakes"...
As I said before and I will say it again, imho he is a 124 rated animal and he is a 1m 4f + horse who should have run in the English St.Leger today.
However, I still think he is above average and to fulfill his potential they must run him in the Arc. This is his best chance of redeeming his reputation.
John F Kennedy has a similar profile to Australia but there is more speed in the family, he could be the real deal.
Report The Gotchee • September 13, 2014 10:17 PM BST
Furthermore, Colm O'Donoghue is the best jockey in Ballydoyle. I can't understand why he hasn't been snapped up by some of the big yards. His ride on Baraweez was out of the top drawer.
Report pa lapsy • September 13, 2014 10:28 PM BST
Thanks Dj,whether coincidental or not the head is a better place from changing tack.
Not documented on post race reports in the media by Mr Weld as far as i can see(logical race is the English Champion is the quote)his interview on tv suggested he wasn't dismissing the Arc at all, know he would have to be supplemented and at the time i thought what an audacious plan, maybe it isn't though,Treve and Tagrooda are beatable. Could be well off the mark there but think he said it for a reason.
With Agnes Stewart,Brian Ellison, Sue Harty,M.Johnston cross channel raiders are doing well on both sides lately, will the trend continue tomorrow with Discussiontofollow????
His run at the Curragh two runs ago is well worth a look, you won't see many travelling better,9lb higher, still would think he would have to be thereabouts at an ew price?

Fantastic crowd there today , really enjoyed it. NearlY missed the first though thanks to collison on M50.

Pa, he said he "can't understand why he hasn't been snapped up by one of the big yards"

Firstly, he is already in a big yard.

Secondly, not aware of any vacancies at any other big yards.

Plenty would love to be in the position both Colm and Seamie are in.
Report pa lapsy • September 13, 2014 11:41 PM BST
Plenty would indeed, still the argument is their career stifled to an extent? Agree with The Gotchee in that, fair enough the opportunity may not be there due to the strength of jockeys in Ireland as a whole, still your comment ridiculing his statement is wrong,Colm is a fine rider,Shamie i look at differently, anyway whether you wanted to just have a dig at the Gotchee is your business, tis a pity you can't keep it to the many points of racing today.
Report The Gotchee • September 13, 2014 11:49 PM BST
snot crackheat and pot, I don't know what type of hallucinogenics you are on these days but the guy deserves a better role than he has a Ballydoyle. He is better than  a lot who have comfortable retainers in big yards both here and in the UK. If you can't see that you should give up the game. As a matter of interest, has your "bet of the month" finished yet? Go to bed ya clown, you are a laughing stock around here with your silly posts.
