Never! They control the industry through the SP and a couple of "the lads" have a stake since 2008 so their domination of the industry shall continue perpetually.

Don't know why but PP's seem way more attractive to youngsters....anyone know the reason for this?

If PP, Boyles and Lads were beside each other in your average Irish town, I'd say the split would be something like 60%-30%-10%.....that's my experience and I've fully understood the attraction to PP over the rest.

Wonder whether their shops are leased or owned ?  If leased presumably it is purely a trading decision , but if owned what about the residual value of the property  , because there are no buyers for bookies shops , particularly among the chains .

There are a few up here ready for closure I suspect , but the Eastwood deal for the 46 shops probably came with a mixed bag of owning and leasing .

Laddies not the only one with the problem , anyone who bought at the height when turnover was good is going to have to take a hit .

I agree with you PF. I also think there's something very ordinary looking inside a Laddies shop whereas a PP one has something a bit more glamorous about it, also seems to be more of a buzz in there probably due to the larger crowds. Lad brokes need a makeover in my opinion even their betting slips look a lot more ordinary compared to the others, something small like that might seem irrelevant but I think it contributes to the overall feeling of unattractiveness compared to the others.

Speaking as an infrequent visitor to the betting shops mentioned above, powers is by far the best. Clean we'll laid out shops with nice big screens and all matches shown live on sky sports bt etc. also have chairs to sit down unlike most ladbrokes shops. They are awful places. Look like something from the 70's. Urgent re design needed. As for Boyles, nice and comfortable but couldn't stick it for more than 5 mins with the cartoon racing on the speakers all day long.

Not that I frequent shops much , but recently I recognise accents and languages with which I am unfamiliar . Think the shops will become the haven for those with no jobs , putting in their day before their next benefit transaction .

Us and Britain are very generous hosts , hence the new accents , laze around all day and we'll still fill your shopping trolley and give you money into the bargain , huge queues in most African airports as we speak...
