I find myself choked up when I see these poor people and the children on this mountain..the frustration at our lack of action makes me sick, we invaded this country for nothing/..wasted our lives and turned the place upside down..we then did the same in Libya never learned our lesson and unleashed more jihadis, now we want to get rid of assad..and put these animals in?is it not beholding on us to at least drop 2000 marines in to help these people to save them..or if not..at least arm the KURDS? they ask for help they will do the fighting..and wipe up our mess?..i find this situation has really got to me..i think its seeing the children..for fuccks sake the time we should do something we do do nothing..i know going back in will not be popular..and getting back out will be easier said than done..but WE broke it...I don't believe in god..this just hardens my atheism..if we don't put an end to this..it will bite us big time in the future....

When Tony says 'we' he clearly means the encompassing 'Western 'we'' ...of which Ireland is a component part at so many levels.  I know what he means and it doesn't bother or confuse me at all.
On the other hand the idea that anything Irish politicians say about e.g. the Middle East impasse makes the slightest impact is faintly ridiculous. They just utter the usual, trite, emotional verbiage that everyone else does. At least it gave the Senate a chance to get away from the subject of over-aggressive seagulls in the Dublin region.
Irish politicians want no children to be killed in war ?- yeah , that makes them pretty special .
So, if no one said anything it would be assumed they were ok with it?  Pope prays for peace. Laugh

The coverage in Irish media about the Gaza issue is hugely biased -but nothing really surprising there unfortunately.

Tobywong and Irish Guy two gentlemen whose contributions are usually inane trite and foul mouthed object to certain topics being discussed here yet they aren't compulsory.

The Israeli situation is best explained by

If the Arabs were to lay down their arms there would be peace.

If the Israelis were to lay down their arms every Israeli man woman and child would be killed, that's the harsh reality.

As we watch the horror in the comfort of our living rooms i cant help recalling a chat i had with an R.T.E editing man a few years ago when he said 70% of the film they get from these war zones makes its way into the bin,; we could never show most of the film on tv he told me.

Israel are blowing the **** out of Gaza and people seem to think its ok ..150,000 marched in London today against The butchers of Israel ...
By:

As London is almost an Arab city hardly surprising.

Hardly wildman just they don't believe your Israeli buddies should be allowed murder women children etc without a care in the world ... Be very interesting to see how many women and children they have killed over the last 6-7 years ...

A new line in diplomacy; lets just 'agree to differ' on the subject of genocide Plain.

Its that misuse of the English language, that exaggeration that has all but made rational conversation impossible.

I suppose if Maggie Thatcher had decided to level West Belfast back in the day you would have been cheerleading her too.
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 10 Aug 14 23:35
No cheer leading here, just think the Israelis are allowed to defend themselves.
If you think that constitutes genocide its proof of your propensity for hyperbole and exaggeration.

How you have squeezed Maggie Thatcher into this discussion is a mystery but I'm sure you will find some way of saying its all her fault.
By:
Ozymandius
When: 10 Aug 14 23:40
I suppose attack is the best form of defence.  Should Maggie have nuked West Belfast or blanket bombed South Armagh?
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 11 Aug 14 00:04
Of course she shouldn't.

Is your hatred of Israel so deep now that you think they nuked someone, they didnt even blanket bomb anyone.

More misuse of the English language, more exaggeration more propaganda and emotionalism.

How much compensation do you think these poor Muslims in Gaza are entitled to iyo?
By:
wildmanfromborneo
When: 11 Aug 14 00:12
I don't believe in compensation and were compensation to be given the lads in Hamas would scoff it,buy some more rockets.
By:
Ozymandius
When: 11 Aug 14 00:14
They might be able to afford some decent rockets, though make a fair fight of it.
