When do italy ever play well in friendlies??
They are master of peaking when it matters,Efficent just like the Germans. |
By:
dont under estimate england, they will hold their own that group
you can forget about the recent results in the friendlies as any guide to how england will perform. lot of talented young players around at the moment, will be all done to roy to create a teamthat can perform to a above average level, oxlade chamberlain will be a big miss now, they still have lot of pace in the side ![]() |

England to go out at group stage is the bet of the WC. Useless. At least they wont have to contend with any penalty shoot outs this year!!

Sorry RR, I forgot you a master of all sports. You have taught me so well this past year or so, how could I doubt you! With your inside info that England are actually a good side(contrary to anything they have suggested on the field, be it International or Club), I should probably decide against backing England to bow out at group stage.
Because you should know, shouldn't you?? You are the wise one, who so kindly informed us that if your ante post selection fails to line up, your stake will be refunded(and I thought ante post betting was a mine field....what sort of gobsh*te am I?!!) You didn't stop there. No, your intelligence is exceeded only by your kindness. You explained to us, that we shouldn't be wasting our time going around looking for Best Price. Its not important at all. SP is the way to measure your success or failure. Thank You again. And then, just when I thought you surely couldn't conjure up any more magic from that huge box of pills you survive on, you show me and millions of others the errors of our ways on football betting. Don't back one team in an outright market, where there are only two possible winners. Back em both!! Yes, for every €100 staked, you can rest assured that we will get back €90. Brilliant. No more risking the tonne loss!! I do apologise for expressing an opinion on an event which I patently know f*ck all about. And to make it worse, I have made another cardinal error, and expressed my opinion before the event. It seems you still have much to teach me Old Sage. What would I do without you?? The word Genius is overused, but...... ![]() |

I fear RR may not have been allowed in the ring to start with Huddys. He would surely have failed the pre fight drugs test?? Prescribed or not, I reckon they be on the no go list.

I think England will preform a lot better then people think, a mix of old and new players with nothing to lose may surprise many, Player for player Belgium have a really good side and i see them as the best outsiders, If a gun was held to my head i would make Spain my choice they have a great squad with NO weekness. ..The refs will play a big part ,lets hope they are not afraid to give yellow cards to divers .

By:
R.R. Lets not bring the thread down to a slagging match, and stop laughing at your own posts m8,
By:
Thing is Frank, Belgium aren't outsiders. They are crazily short. Shorter than teams like Italy, France, Portugal, Holland and Uruguay. Yes, they have an easy group, but all I keep reading is how they are 'dark horses'. They are 5th favourites, favourite outside the Big 4. They aint that dark, and have been hugely over bet because of this perception in the media, and among football fans. I for one will be backing Russia to top that group.
By:
England are facking useless lads, seriously, and with woy in charge they're destined for failure,he looks lost on that sideline.
italy 2-2 fluminense at the moment great game |
By:
Very well said re Belgium callit,Couldn't agree more,They lack a top class striker,(please don't say lukaku)he's decent but thats about it,a poor mans Drogba,Chile and Japan my "dark horses" with the Argies to win it
By:
Surprising how low the w/cup first goalscorer etc are on here compered to PADDIES for instance , huge differences in some cases...
By:
Re Belgium Chelt, quite a few of their players are Premiership based. There are plenty of idiots out there that still believe it to be the best league in the world, even though CL results consistently prove otherwise. Hence players from this league are continually over hyped, and over bet. While in truth, they are just good players in a decent league. Nothing more.
And why England have consistency gone off at stupid prices. Hype and idiocy are a dangerous combo where gambling is involved, and the English have it in abundance. |

i love to know who Spain will start up front W/R , Villa could be a great bet if starting he looked very sharp in Spains last game.

would put any one off backing spain as winners, unless you have a view to trade them later in the competition, dont see them able
to carry on winning, this would be their 4th trophy in last 6 years. other teams have improved past them now IMO |
By:
Frank , not sure he's the player of old , with that cutting edge , still capable no doubt , be worried if Spains main strikers hit form , not sure he'd get a run ..Don't the Spanish manager is keen on him either..
By:
its for the last reason you outlined W/R. that puts me off backing him .
By:
No one has improved past Spain, they clearly came back to the pack. FWIW they are the team to beat and whoever beats them will win it. An exceptional team still tactically, mentally and technically. Peak Spain 08-11' would likely piss this as the only other really top-class sides in it are Germany and Argentina who are both flawed and unbalanced, but are still massively threatening.
Brazil are ordinary as hell in certain areas, Fred: not good enough for Lyon 5 years ago, Jo their other recognised striker couldn't hold down a place at city when they were ordinary or at an Everton team not much better. Guardiola jettisoned Luis Gustavo to Wolvsburg when he was only 5 minutes in the door at Bayern. The number one keeper Julio Cesar has played about 7 or 8 games in the last 15 months. All these guys are likely to get significant game time. I could see France going well as they have a lot of physical power. |
By:
The classiest central midfielder in Brazil is David Luiz, he'll be playing at centre-back, says it all really. They aren't producing the players they were.
Neymar is a fine player, but has more in common with Robinho & Denilson than the great Brazilian players that were around 10-15-20 years ago. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Romario, Rivaldo, Kaka.... |
By:
Neill, it says it all. How is that then.
By:
Such is the lack of quality central midfielders in Brazil that a guy who is basically a centre back is probably their best option in there too. Can't see Paulinho, Luis Gustavo or Ramires getting on the ball and dictating the game like Schweinsteiger, Xavi, Pirlo or even Gerard. That is what I mean, they are all athletes/hard runners, Brazil may struggle creatively, Luiz is as likely as any of them to get his head up and spot a pass. He'll be centre back any way, I was just using him to illustrate their lack of options in the centre of the pitch.... a lot is going to fall on Oscar to drop deep and get on the ball and that shouldn't be his job.
By:
Fair enough Neill.
I do agree for the most part. Luiz at centre back does however suit their style of play, rotating positions and players with apparent ease. The creativity died some time ago but big Phil did not. I like Luiz but he can be slapdash also, so he needs managing.......... |
By:
Agree Pecker,
Just reading back there, I'm coming over as that horrible Barca/Spain fanboy type, don't mean to piss on anyone's chips re Brazil but I'm just not crazy about their squad. Big Luiz fan myself, needs to be kept in check but he's one of those lads I like watching playing football so I was sorry he left Chelsea. This probably isn't a tournament for dogmatic opinion but I'll be having a little go on Spain anyhow!! |
By:
neill u have some very valid points re the brazillians, they just don't do it for me,
the ironic thing about todays brazil is their defense is there strongest part of the team! Who'd have ever thought that about a brazillian team??They lack the flair and spark in offence that we've become accustomed to with brazillian teams over the years, The first WC is can remember as a kid was the USA 94 one, with the likes of Romario and Bebeto on show ![]() and a 17 year old Ronaldo on the bench,Since then we've had the likes of Rivaldo,Ronaldinho,The aforementioned Ronaldo and Romario, Now a days the names don't roll of the tongue quite as easy as they once did,i also think scolari is quite a negative manager from a brazillian point of view,he like players with good work rate rather than the usual brazillian flair we're so used to seeing, hence why he always picks the likes of Ramires,Fred,Jo etc. |
By:
I wouldn't like a team I've backed to draw them all the same Roar, and yeah the defence looks pretty exceptional, but I wouldn't be backing em as I say. Scolari might see that he has a lot of what he needs to win as you mention.
One thing I've noticed, it isn't every time but most of the time, most of the successful teams in European club football and International football have a top-class deep lying midfield playmaker. Brazil and Argentina don't have one of these unless you consider Banega top-class, carries a bit too much pudding for me and that is why he is back playing in Argentina. |
By:
Brazil lack world class forwards , home advantage is huge as we all know , unlikely to set the world alight either ..Therefore I'll be looking elsewhere , Spain are world champions and will fight to the death to keep it that way , the most interesting team for me is Argentina ..Always strong at the back , this time they seem to have a abundance of firepower as well ...Messi looked tired at the end of the season and why wouldn't he , since he has tied his future to Barca I think we will see a more lively player , huge expectations on his shoulders but he is well able to carry them ..Argentina have an all round look about them this world cup , sure to be there or thereabouts and worth an interest ..Germany would be my pick of the Europeans , always well drilled while not always good to watch , they nevertheless will be trained to peak after the qualifiers..
By:
In recent years I've thought the German national team have looked a little soft workrider, played some dazzling football but a little wanting when it comes to the crunch. A bit like Bayern Munich, they'll look back at the last 5 or 6 years and feel they might have won more.
Reuss is injured now as well and they've gone without any recognised striker in their squad bar Klose. Mario Goetze needs a big tournament, can't nail down a Bayern spot, he will play now with Reuss out. kid needs to man up as they say. |
By:
I think Messi was minding himself in the latter stages of the campaign with Barca. He ha gone on record as saying that Argentina is his family, that he would give all the awards, trophies and records he has won back in return for winning the WC. I expect him to perform, and maybe lift them to the trophy.
By:
Neill , agree with most of what you say , but they have ALWAYS played above themselves in these tournaments ...
