It will be hard for this weeks contests to live up to the two cracking conclusions to the week just gone, but here's hoping. The climax to the BMW was the most entertaining final round of golf I have seen in quite a while. And the Colonial was far from boring either!

From a personal point of view, the pre tournament outrights didn't pay their way, but a profitable Sunday in the 2 balls, and an in running bet on Scott at 14s made it a profitable week.

Both Sundays winners reappear this week, and have obvious chances in their current form, but don't jump out at the prices. I spent the whole day yesterday trying to find a reason not to include Matt Kuchar this week. I consistently questioned his bottle over the past few months, and I still remain unconvinced. But his slightly fortunate win in the RBC Heritage, could be enough to help him over the line when in the heat of battle again. And there is every reason to expect a very prominent showing this week. He is a top 10 cashpoint lately, and even in years gone past when not so prolific, he has always played superb around here. It really is impossible to leave him out, at 16-1 and 6 places.

Justin Rose was tempting again this week, as he looks very close to his best, and has won here, but I was hoping for slightly bigger on him, so reluctantly leave him out. Instead I go again with Luke Donald. Like Kuchar, when Donald finds his form, he consistently bangs in high finishes. His touch on and around the greens at Wentworth was top notch. It was his relatively poor iron play that cost him the chance to convert more birdie putts, but the swirling and inconsistent wind may have affected his relatively new swing more than most. On a track which consistently rewards good putters, it is not hard to envisage him gaining a deserved victory this week.

Ryan Moore hasn't had a great season, and has rarely troubled the judge. But he has shown glimmers of late, and at 66-1 at a venue where he has plenty of previous, it is worth taking the chance he can putt it altogether this week.

It took an inspired Tiger Woods, and one of the shots of the season to finally defeat Rory Sabbatini here 2 years ago, and given his overall record here it a surprise that he doesn't play every year, and more of a surprise he is such a big price. He is not one of the games elite, and as such his recent form is not bad, 3 top 20s in a row of late confirming as much. An absolute pr*ck, but worth a punt!!

Charles Howell finds more ways to lose than Englands penalty takers, but at 80-1 with 6 places, he will more than justify his selection if finishing as bridesmaid again. He has looked to be approaching form again of late, and though he took time to adapt to this layout, he has got to grips with on his last couple of visits. A third place finish, and a charging Sunday at the Byron Nelson will send him here full of confidence.

Last man in was Brendan Todd. It may be asking too much of the new kid on the block to win 2 weeks out of 3, but it was also asking a lot for him to back up his maiden victory with a top 5 last week. He may very well be here to stay, and though making his first appearance here, he is putting like a man possessed, and like Donald, he may find that huge asset has him in with a winning chance again come Sunday evening.

1.8pts e.w Matt Kuchar 16-1 (6 places)
1.1pt e.w Luke Donald 28-1
.45pt e.w Ryan Moore 66-1
.35pt e.w Charles Howell 80-1
.35pt e.w Brendan Todd 80-1
.3pt e.w Rory Sabbatini 100-1

I haven't really looked at the Nordea Masters. It will be interesting to see how Jonas Blixt performs ahead of the US Open. Personally I hope he misses the cut to boost his price!!

One who I had to back was Paul Lawrie. He hasn't played much golf of late, but having backed him last week he never really got in contention, but produced a cracking 67 to finish on Sunday, and quotes of 66-1 are certainly worth taking.

.5pt e.w Paul Lawrie 66-1

huddys 26 May 14 19:04

After a great week last week with Rory and Lowry playing great we are onto another week of great golf.

Starting of with Jack Nicklaus tournament,
wont be the same without Tiger not been here, he always loved playing great here,
looks a great field with plenty of strength here with both Scott and Rory coming into the event in great form,
but the guy I'm going to give another chance is Matt Kuchar, has been up in the running nearly all the events he's played,
will come into this week as defending champion, so at 16/1 think he's an outstanding e/w bet.

Now onto Europe with the Nordea golf.

Another event with some high class players, I'm going for the fav Stenson I know boring selection,
he's had a slow enough start this year after the height's he showed last year,
he's slowly getting back into the form he showed last year, with a very good showing last week, have to say was surprised with the price,
I taught 5/1 would be the top price, so was very happy getting the 7/1.

Selections,

Memorial Matt Kuchar e/w 16/1 6 places,

Nordea H.Stenson win 7/1,

Also done a e/w double as well, best of luck this week lads.

Kick off those Lucchese boots, forget the Alamo and Waco, and leave all those Honky Tonks in Texas us behind for another year as we fly -
from (Ben) ‘Hogan’s Alley’ up to ‘Jack’s (Nicklaus) Place’ in Dublin – northwest of Columbus, Ohio that is !

The 39th edition of the prestigious invitational - The Memorial Tournament takes place at Muirfield Village Country Club.
http://www.thememorialtournament.com/
http://www.nicklaus.com/

The dream and work of ‘The Golden Bear’, Jack grew up just down the road from here.
Since the course opened in 1974, it has hosted the 1987 Ryder Cup, the 1992 US Amateur Championship, the 1998 Solheim Cup and the 2013 Presidents Cup.

Adam Scott, the World’s No. 1 player, heads a field of 120 players.
Fresh off a playoff victory for the ‘Texax Slam’, he is joined by six other players from the Top 10 in the OWGR:

Matt Kuchar (defending winner)
Bubba Watson (reigning Masters Champion)
Jason Day (No 7. Accenture Match Play Champion)
Justin Rose (2010 Memorial winner and reigning U.S. Open champion)
Jordan Spieth
Rory McIlroy.

The tournament also boasts 7 of the current Top 10 on the FedEx Cup and 7 of the current Top 10 on the PGA TOUR money list.
In addition to Kuchar and Rose, six past winners of the Memorial  are in the field:
K.J. Choi, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Carl Pettersson, Vijay Singh and Steve Stricker.

C’mon Aussie - 26-year-old Jason Day (was value at 45/1, 6 places SJ - paired with Scott & Rory), finished in a tie for 41st in the 2013 Memorial and has since competed in last year’s Presidents Cup, now lives in Columbus. He circled in this event  when he elected to rest an injured left thumb over a start at The Players.

Day is 31st in FedEx Cup points, but has made only four starts this season.
He's played only once (T20, Masters) since winning the Accenture Match Play three months ago.
Jason is making his 6th Memorial Tournament start and since 2010 he has posted six top-10 finishes in major championships, with three runner-up outings at the Masters (2011) and U.S. Open (2011 and 2013). Call it as you see it will no doubt be looking forward to his wife, Ellie, running on the green on Sunday.

Roger Maltbie, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour and a key member of NBC Sports’ golf coverage team since 1992, won the first edition of this invitational in 1976 beating Hale Irwin in a four-hole playoff.  Maltbie is one of only two players (host Jack Nicklaus is the other) to have played in every Memorial since its inception in 1976. As the network’s lead course reporter, Maltbie usually draws the assignment of walking with the leaders. Can’t wait for his interview with Day on Sunday evening !

'Turn on, tune in, drop out'...more to follow...must watch Quintana win the Giro.

5 bets for me in the states as usual:

Justin Rose 16/1
Former winner @ this venue who invariably shows his best here. 3 top 10's last 3 weeks also.

Luke Donald 25/1
Callitasucit sums up luke's chance very well above and he is my most confident selection this week.

Ryan Moore 50/1
Another one whose chances are put forwards above little I can add. Accuracy should be very important this week which suits moore.

Bo Van Pelt 80/1
3 top 20 finishes since 2010 and good form in last 2 events puts him in great nick for this week.

Matt Jones 80/1
Very impressive when winning in Houston and equally good showing @ Sawgrass should mean confidence is sky high.

Good luck all this week.

The 5-4 on Luke Donald for top 20 is a massive price. In my opinion he, along with Kuchar, is the most likely of the whole field to produce their running, and contend on Sunday. I would make him a 4-7 shot, and confidently expect him to collect.

Another bet worth having is the 10-3(or 3s in a few places) on KJ Choi for Top Asian. Only really has Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Ishikawa to beat. Ishikawa comes here off the back of two missed cuts, and Matsuyama can be expected to take a couple of tries around here before coming to grips with the tricky layout. Choi has very solid form around here, his game is built on the accuracy which this venue demands, is in consistent form of late, and would certainly be fav in my book, and rates a solid bet.

8pts Luke Donald Top 20 5-4
4pts KJ Choi Top Asian 10-3

Paul Lawrie is well worth a wager at 12-5 in tomorrow mornings 3 ball. He had a blistering start today, but a horror mid round spell took him to 2 over. Consecutive birdies late on, will have given him confidence and hope for tomorrow.

The main danger Cabrera Bello beat him by 4 shots today, and lies close to the lead. But he nearly always lies close to the lead after day one. What he does for the rest of the week is usually vastly different. Lawrie is after every Ryder Cup point he can get. Making the cut tomorrow will matter to him, and he will give full effort.

Tommy Fleetwood arrives off the back of two missed cuts, and after today he looks set to bag the hat trick. Unless he starts very well, he could very well give up early.

Lawrie should be a lot shorter.

Ryan Moore takes the biscuit for poor putting this week. Missed from  4ft, 5ft twice, 6ft, 8ft and 9ft, that's just today, and that was good compared to yesterday!!

Charl missed 4 inside 10 feet, but his miss from a foot does beggar belief!!

Every week I tell myself not to be backing dodgy putters, as it annoys the bol*ix out of me, especially on payday. But each week, I seem to have at least one in the team who has allergy to the hole!!

Toyed with backing Bubba this morning at 7-2, left it. Will probably back Scott now. He was superb in winning from similar position last week. He is going to be very hard to beat in the US Open, and if his price is to tumble more, I want to be compensated first!

Stevie Gallagher is 2.08 to beat Alvaro Quiros in 2 ball tomorrow. Cracking bet. I am trying to talk myself out of it, as ended up backing Stevie G at 33s before tournament, along with Lawrie, so shouldn't really be overloading on him. But he should be more like 1.6 in my opinion.

Quite a few attractive prices on the 2 balls this evening. The 11-8 that Coral have chalked up on Charles Howell to beat Gary Woodland is superb. I would make him a shade of odds on.

But have decided to combine the 6 that stand out.

KJ Choi 1/1
Charles Howell 6-5(PP best on rest of prices, and Co*al wouldn't take the bet anyway!!)
Matt Kuchar 4-6
Keegan Bradley 5-6
Ryan Moore 8-11
Adam Scott 8-11

Well, **** that bogey on 17 for Stevie G. Little luck with the putter today. Looks like 4 man playoff unless Stenson can eagle the last to leapfrog them. Possibility after the drive.
