What's he playing at?   Why did he propose in the first place?  Seems to change his mind on everything every six months.

On the whole, not a bad decision. She ain't all that, very clingy, and no wealthy sportsman should be permitted to marry until they hit 40...better chance of making a good decision, less risk of a costly divorce and more time to take advantage of your success, wealth ad fame in order to play the field.

A bit like the old black and white movies OZY ..the chap is in his 40plus the  wife at least 20years younger and rarely a child to be seen, and if there is the father looks more like the child grandda. As for Rory he could have let her know before the wedding Invitations where sent out, but maybe Silently he just might be pineing for his old flame. Anyway i wont be backing Rory until he hits the 40 mark he should be sound of mind by then.
Report Kelly May 21, 2014 5:10 PM BST
Has changed his mind on this situation more often than he has changed clubs .  Mind you that has not proved too successful  so it remains to be seen what transpires .

I heard relayed what one of Rory's mates said to him a good while ago when he started to hit the big time "unfortunately Rory you wont know whether any females are after you or your money " .  Guess that applies to more than golfers ( and maybe successful forumites --assuming there are some finacially adept ) .

Wozniaki does not fit the money formula though , she seems sorted on money , and the advice to live in Monaco is well founded .

There is something about his face that is difficult to warm to. He is one of those that looks like he is in a mood even when he isn't, only very handsome/charismatic people can pull it off and Rory doesn't.

Kelly, there have been a few instances in her public appearances to suggest that Caroline isn't the sharpest.... the latest I recall is the Serena Williams impersonation with the pillows. Not the kind of thing Rory needs to be associated with given all of his sponsors. Not saying he is that cut-throat or anything but he could have nearly anyone and desire realised is no longer desire after all. The rumour in the papers was that she was going to give up tennis to stay at home and raise kids, the prospect probably frightened the **** out of him as it would any rational young man in his position.

I find it hard to warm to Rory. But some cant stand Tiger, I love the man! As for the relationship with Woz, I don't understand why any young worldwide superstar would want to restrict himself to one piece of pie. He should be shag*ing all around him for the next 10 years, and then settle down if that is what he wants. Unlike Tiger, who settled down, and then shagged all around him!!

Woz does have a cracking body, but so do most Eastern European women, and to be brutally honest, she has a face like a bee keepers apprentice.

Woz would be a perfectly acceptable wife for most , and she comes with a dowry , of independent means . Whether she and Rory would last as a high profile man and wife is the question which Rory seems to have answered as no .

Always a contentious issue when 2 high profiles connect , and it seldom works  for long .  Marriage these days aint what it used to be , guess the lawyers love the current scenario .

Surprised its not on there somewhere . Basically David said he was proud to have worn all jersies including the Irish , and he felt Irish when in the company of those from the south , and northern Irish when at home . There is a facility for that , anyone I meet abroad immediately classifies me as Irish . I have a British passport , my daughter has an Irish passport  , and her children have British passports ( the southerners refused them  Irish passports ) .

Its never simple given the artificial set up we have had since 1922 . There is a simple way to resolve it all , but it wouldn't suit everybody and it would take another 100 years before everyone assimilated a  new set up .

David was a cracking player too , (Irwin as was Hewitt ) work rider . .  Watched a bit of an old Pathe news match last night , Ireland vs Scotland , 1958 . The Irish back line had Pedlow , Henderson , Hewitt , O'Reilly in it , not sure who was playing as well , but Pedlow at wing seemed strange , and I think he scored 2 tries . Used to be my dentist too once upon a time .

Tony 57 ( any connection with a stellar Irish and Lions winger ? ) ,the anomaly that is Northern Ireland defies logic .  Six counties out of 32 , geographically located on a small island yet not connected jurisdictionally with the other 26 is daft .  Were it not for the history and the "tribes" involved and in situ .  Shades of Middle East , Pakistan .  Mountbatten and co were allocated 37 days to disengage from Indian scene , having been "operating" there for centuries , drug running et al via East India company .

How anyone thought they could "control " a unit like NI which had 357 miles of border with cheek by jowl neighbours ( some unfriendly) leaves the logical among us scratching our heads . But I dont think anyone thought it could last for 90 plus years . The money and effort wasted over these 90 years is mind boggling , and properly managed ( keeping the greedy and needy bankers and *ankers away from it with their grubby and vulgar hands ) could have ensured a decent country for all 32 . Lessons of history .

Thank goodness the rugby and the golf people stayed intact island wide , and if there is a lesson in that in propserity terms , so be it .  Soccer just one of the sports which has foundered partly because there is little logic applied in having seperate teams .

Ireland has won more medals in the Olympics for boxing then any other sport; many of these medals have been won by n/ireland fighters, As a lover of boxing i have to confess i would cheer as loudly for them as i would for a boxer from the south, if Rory opts for the union/jack so be it i wont think any less of him but giving his state of mind he may not take part in the Olympics at all. Time will tell.

The lad lapped up all the sympathy last week and everyone was delighted with his win. The way he treated that lass was scandalous and typical of the arrogant sod. She was prepared to give up everything for him and he gave her 3 minutes. Well today the truth coming out hurt him on the golf course. Was there something in Caroline clad in the Irish colours the other day? was this to have a go at her X.
Report Vubiant May 31, 2014 12:50 AM BST
But Kelly -What law says that one block of territory or island must contain only one state ?
There are many places  around the world where you find one island with more than country e.g. Hispaniola ,Papua  New Guinea and countries/states  composed of many islands e.g.Indonesia , Japan ...
The Iberian peninsula has Spain and Portugal -and sizeable minority groups argue and press for even more countries there e.g. Basques and Catalans.

Incidentally the same applies to languages . The idea of 'one country/state -one language' is not a necessity.
Many countries use the same language and single countries use multiple languages.

People should try to rid themselves of these simplisms that get trotted out by those who have not grasped the complexity that characterises human political and social arrangements which can be quite arbitrary and do not conform to any neat formulae.
Report Kelly May 31, 2014 2:23 AM BST
No "Law" vubiant .  Mere common sense applied to a relatively small self contained island with no need for 2 different legislatures up to that .  Ireland was a "unit" until 1922 . Question is , what happened in 1922 for it to be split into 2 different jurisdictions .  And who did it suit ?

The plantation was an attempt to replace the native population with mainly lowland Scots who were notionally at first glance "friendly and loyal to the Crown " . However history shows us that lots of independent thought evolved from those sources , and dissent resulted in a lot of them  having to go west where they helped fashion a new country more to their liking than their "old country"- viz an Ireland run by the English .

One of the salient facts about Northern Ireland is that the unionist population have more in common with their fellow islanders than they have with the citizens of the rest of the UK . Increasingly so , UKIP voters are not the only ones to recognise this .

Mistakes have been made continually by British and Irish governments which had allowed a drift into the "ungovernable" six counties we lived through for 30 years plus from 1966 ( yes thats when it actually started , not 1968 ) . Ireland's ( south ) biggest mistake was in not joining in the second world war effort formally and doing a deal to rectify the anomaly when the war was over ( or in the course of the war ) .  You dont get opportunities like that on a plate every day  , and the effect of that on unionist perceptions was a big factor in sustaining the desire to remain "British" .

We citizens of Northern Ireland are not blameless in the events leading up to present  , some of us have exhibited the worst forms of getting on with our neighbours . There are 4 players in the mix , Britain , Ireland , unionists and non-unionists . Satisfying everyone has so far been a bridge or two too far !
Report Ozymandius May 31, 2014 8:18 AM BST
It's quite obvious who it suited in 1922...the majority of people living up there.  It still does.  And the British government have always offered NI a referendum should that change.  You really can't say fairer than that.

Why some people in, say, Kerry, think they should have a democratic right to vote in a referendum on Northern Ireland is a nonsensical notion to me.

Do you hear the people of Cornwall thinking they should vote in the Scottish Independece Referendum?  Of course not.  It's the people who live there that count.

The fact is a minority posturing as a majority forced partition.

If Tipperary wanted to secede from Ireland would they be allowed hold a referendum in Tipperary alone.

Scotland has always had its own borders, was a country before so it is only right they alone vote on their independence.
Report Ozymandius May 31, 2014 12:57 PM BST
It's the people who live there who have the right to determine their preferred status. No one else.

Why should the good people of Northern Irlenad have their lives determined by, for example, the votes of some romantic old fool in Keery...someone who knows nobody in Northern Ireland, has never been there, will never go...no way is such a person entitled to vote to determine the lives of these people.

If the majority of people in Tipperary wants to cede and thinks its practical and feasible to do so, then let them on.  Perhaps you could lead them?
