GER McKENNA, 84, lost his battle for life late on Wednesday night. The greatest trainer of our time passed away in Tullamore Hospital after being rushed there last Saturday evening.
For many years known simply as the Maestro, Ger rewrote the pages of greyhound history since he first took out a training licence back in 1956.
He will be very sadly missed by his wife Josie, sons Ger, John and Owen and extended family. More in Friday's Racing Post.
Funeral details:
Reposing in Bushy Park Nursing Home in Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary on Friday between 4 and 8pm. Requiem Mass in St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Borrisokane on Saturday at 12 noon and burial afterwards.
