It's that time of year again folks :

The Rules :

1. Every entrant picks 2 teams from each province.

If your selection wins the provincial championship you are awarded 10 points whilst runners up receive 5 points.

2. In addition every entrant nominates the 4 counties who'll make the All-Ireland semi-finals.

There will be 5 points awarded to the 4 counties who reach this stage.

3. Finally each entrant nominates their 2014 All Ireland champion and runner up.

20 points will be awarded to the winner and 10 to the runner up.

4. The winner will be the person with the most points.

In the event of a tie then a tie-breaker will be used to determine the winner.

The championship proper begins with Westmeath v Louth on Saturday 17 May 2014 with a 7pm throw-in.

Closing date for entries is 5 pm on Saturday 17 May 2014.

Betfair have again kindly put up prizes for the top three as follows :

2nd € 50
3rd € 25

2013 Winner kavvie is the man to beat this year.

One question re the scoring which needs clarification I think

Everyone picks 2 teams for the final, one winner and one loser. How many points do you get if the team you picked as winner actually loses the final and vice versa.

You could have a situation where someone could get both teams for the final correct but get no points if the correct team doesn't actually win it for them.

In your case if Dublin beat Mayo you would still get the 20 points for the dubs and 10 for Mayo.

Sorry for any confusion caused.

Perhaps I should have stated that everyone names their 2 teams for the final with the winner getting 20 and the runner up 10.

No entrant can get all 4 semi-finalists correct while about half can only get 2 of the 4 semi-finalists at this stage, mainly due to Mayo/Cork set to meet in a quarterfinal

you have to add something to make it harder next next year ? , maybe instead of just naming the 2 provincal teams you have to nominate the correct order in the final i.e mayo to beat galway and an bonus for those who get it right

Amazed at this . If you had asked me for odds about my selections I would have been quoting big ones . Surprised no one else had Kerry in their final selection given their pedigree .

But it feels more like Foinavons National than L'Escargot's !

Well done to Monte Christo , not his fault that a lot of us ignored Donegal and bought into the metropolitan hype ( although they have too many good athletes not to rise again ) .

As posted I am with Kerry , but Donegal are favs , arguably on merit . Might just be a very good final , both the semis were great theatre .

Just sorry the final was not Kerry vs the Dubs . I still think the Dubs have the best set of players ( collectively , not necessarily individually ), failed dismally against Donegal for whatever reason , but the final was not pretty viewing , too many errors from forwards under pressure .

And Kerry won with the best player in the land sitting in the dugout , feel for him , would have been captain . And the photos last forever!
