KINGMAN could carry a lot more than just connections' hopes and dreams in next week's Qipco 2,000 Guineas, for which he is hot favourite, with Scoop6 organisers hinting the race could form the final leg of Saturday's predicted £5 million bet.

That is the early estimate of what a single winner of the Scoop6 will collect should they land next weekend's win fund - which yet again went begging on Saturday - and empty the bonus kitty the following Saturday. Scoop6 pools have never before hit £5m, the bet having been launched in July 1999.

The win fund rolls over with £2,096,863 in the pot, while the bonus, incredibly not won since August 31, stands at £1,777,220, making the combined pools the biggest in Scoop6 history.



Angel Gabrial's success at Ripon in leg five on Saturday blew out the remaining 16 tickets, and attention now turns to next weekend when Kingman will bid for Guineas glory.
Totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: "We've spoken about that and I certainly wouldn't rule the Guineas out of being in the bet. I cannot give too much of an indication as we don't know how the race will cut up at the declaration stage, but even with Kingman being fairly short there's a possibility it will go in.

"We endeavour to get the last leg on Channel 4 so it's very possible that could be it, with loads of tickets on Kingman and we'll have a few winners, or they'll get blown out."

NIGHT OF THUNDER'S shock victory in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas downed the one remaining ticket in Saturday's Scoop6, meaning the £5,587,940 pool will roll over for a tenth week.

Only one ticket survived the first five legs, with the unlucky punter's hopes and dreams riding on Spanish raider Noozhoh Canarias, but the 22-1 shot could finish no better than sixth.


With £3,296,563 in the win fund and £2,291,377 in the bonus pot, the pool, which was already the largest combined rollover in Scoop6 history, defied odds of 4-9 by not being won again.
Yet after two legs victory looked almost certain - with victory in leg one for Pricewise pick Niceofyoutotellme carrying through 119,999 units, before favourite Sole Power won leg two to carry forward 40,459 tickets.

A runaway victory for the James Tate-trained Ruwaiyan in leg three began to put the bet in jeopardy as the field was reduced to 1,318 with three legs still remaining. Pandar's success at 40-1 did further damage in leg four and left six of the 13 runners covered in leg five, with victory for Ruth Carr's Fort Bastion leaving just one ticket remaining.

WITH exactly two hours to go until the start of this afternoon's mammoth Scoop6, the win fund is closing in on £5 million as punters chase what could be a life-changing amount of money.





The bet has rolled over for 11 weeks, and as a consequence has swelled to new unprecedented levels, with the win fund forecast to reach £6.5m and the bonus fund £3.5m.
At 11.45am, two hours before the first leg gets the Saturday action underway, the net win fund pool stands at £4,874,284, while the bonus fund is £2,967,544, and Betfred expect the bet to finally fall, offering odds of 1-3 it is won, with a 12th consecutive rollover a 9-4 shot.

The bet is being pushed in betting shops, with staff in the Canary Wharf branches of Coral and Paddy Power reporting plenty of interest.
