RUBY WALSH, out of action since the Cheltenham Festival, is likely to return to race-riding on Saturday when he partners the unbeaten Un De Sceaux in a rematch with French ace Gemix at Auteuil.
The jockey, who is coming back from a fractured humerus and dislocated shoulder, has been riding out this week with a view to being fit for the start of the Punchestown festival next Tuesday and is set to take in the Un De Sceaux ride on the way.
Trainer Willie Mullins said: "Un De Sceaux has gone to France and is set to run on Saturday. I hope that Ruby Walsh will be able to ride him."
Un De Sceaux has a perfect record of eight wins from eight starts, four of them this season. He was considered a lively contender for the Champion Hurdle before connections ruled him out the race and instead sent him to France for the Group 3 Prix Hypothese at the end of last month.
The six-year-old beat French star hurdler Gemix by a short neck on that occasion and the pair will cross swords for a second time on Saturday when they meet in the Group 2 Prix Leon Rambaud, a 2m4f hurdle race.
The outing makes Un De Sceaux an unlikely starter against Jezki and stablemate Hurricane Fly in the Racing Post Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on Friday week.
He had been no bigger than 6-1 for the event but has been removed from the betting by Paddy Power, who have now cut favourite Jezki to 8-11.
mullins probably had this race in mind when not going to chelts?..lovely horse..and imo mullins did right not going for the champion this year..he is the horse for this season..

Don't want crab him as it was impressive, but a bit of a strange race in that they were all looking for the best ground and everyone had a different idea where it was, very high cruising speed all the same, nearly always looks as if he will have to run from the front, that might be a negative in the cham hur but would be a very exciting spectacle and given he stays 2 1/2 mile would be worth a go.Still hasn,t really beating anything of note. Thought Tara Point during the week was a hell of a good bumper winner Tony.
