In an incredible twist to the story of Seamus Graham’s sudden death came the news that the trainer’s favourite greyhound also passed away this morning. The sensational tracker and sire, who was twelve years of age on April 2nd, had been sick recently and it was obvious that his days were nearing an end. Seamus Graham’s son Diarmuid today said that “Premier Fantasy has been sick for ten days and he hasn’t eaten for four days. It is amazing that he died on the same morning as dad”. During a short but quite fantastic career, Premier Fantasy won the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake at Shelbourne in December 2003 and then returned the following April to win the Easter Cup in a then track record time of 28.08sec. He then moved to Wimbledon and took the place by storm in the William Hill English Derby where he won his first four rounds and then smashed a hock in the semi-final when clear entering the opening bend. He was never to race again. He was a son of Premier County and Nifty Niamh. |

Desperately sad and very poignant that the dog he had such admiration for passed on the same morning.
