The World snooker championship starts tomorrow.
The favourite is the mercurial Ronnie OSullivan,he is going for a hat trick of championships.
OSullivan is probably the second best snooker player of all time but is temperamental,suffers from depression and liable to do anything.
The best time to take him on is early in the championship,he has been beaten in the first round many times before,David Gray,Darren Morgan,Alan McManus and Marco Fu none really household names.
If things go against him his head drops,he memorably threw away a world championship by not trying against Graeme Dott,there is always the possibility he won't turn up.
The extraordinary thing about today's snooker is the lack of young players.
The sixteen qualifiers this year feature a lot of old players but lurking among them was a real dangerous sleeper Robin Hull.
Hull is Finnish and a streak player,played far and away the best in the qualifiers,spared us the agony of having to watch Peter Ebdon,he's not young but has suffered ill health for some years he is well again.
He makes a lot of big breaks and if he catches OSullivan cold could surprise.
One thing is certain he is the one player they all wanted to avoid.
I am going for the value here but others might like to back him on the spread of frames.

I think Ronnie is an absolute certainty to lift his 6th World Championship. Backed him at 2.62 and 11-8.
It seems skimpy,.....its not!!
When on form(which he has been for the last 2 years when it has counted), he is simply different gravy. His draw couldn't have been any easier if he drew it up himself, and he could sleep his way to the semi finals.
Ronnie hasn't been beaten in a match longer than best of 11 since 2011. It wont happen this week.
Only Ding or Robbo could have any semblance of a chance of taking him out, and neither have the self belief at the moment that they are able to.
I will have a good few match bets, indeed will back Ron in his opener at 4-6 minus 5.5 frames. But the main bet is a very large wager on the best player we have ever seen, and he wont disappoint.
Empty your wallets, rob the mistress, sell the wife, pawn the children, skip the mortgage,.......its a lump job!!
Its better than bank rates, and a hell of a lot safer, and definitely more enjoyable!

You are underestimating Robin Hull,all wanted to avoid him.
He is capable of stringing a couple of century breaks together,that 4/6 is dreadful value.
OSullivan is moody and his head can drop,Hull is a great break builder and nerveless,if he can win the first session anything can happen.

Ken Docherty got an easy draw but sadly is gone at the game,pity because probably had the best bottle of them all.

I suspect Joe Davis, although Willie Thorne was probably the most talented off camera.

betting him to win each match and playing it up would most likely work out better than 11/8
I don't know NGU. I tied that on players a few years and it worked out a good bit worse. And the draw rarely works out the way one would expect. If Ding goes by the wayside, the biggest

Considering Ronnies final opponents in his winning years, it might not end up above evens, and unless he playing poorly and meets the highest seed he can each match, there isn't much scope to get too far above 11-8.

Ronnie's head is exactly where it needs to be at the moment.
I think he has a number of coaches include the Steve Peters who is making a huge difference to him.
Measuring him in terms of his tournament wins still leaves him behind Hendry (assume you look at World Champ, UK titles and Masters) but his haul is certainly now more in line with his talent. The fact that he is as good as ever at this age is incredible, as everyone else has dropped off significantly post 35 and earlier.
It would be great to see him win it and he could well do so, by trouncing every opponent along the way.

His interviews of late, suggest he is loving every minute of life, including snooker at the moment. And its been like this for quite awhile, long enough that its reasonable to expect him to stay happy.
As he says, he used to be just wanting to get out of the arena, get it over with it, but now he is relishing every moment. Not what vastly inferior opponents need to be hearing.
Hopefully he can rattle off the next 3 in quick succession, and put any lingering doubts certain people had to bed.

Ken has played a series of loose shots in this frame, very edgy. Should have been 4-4 a long time ago. Bing doing his best to hand it to him. Massive frame.

Remember it well Frank, was in my first year in college. Shared a house with 4 lads. I was the only one that went in that day.....felt deprived!!
